nigrahasthānalakṣaṇam
1. nyāyavādinamapi vādeṣu asadvyavasthopanyāsaiḥ śaṭhā nigṛhṇanti, tanniṣedhārthamidamārabhyate |
asādhanāṅga gavacanamadoṣodbhāvanaṁ dvayoḥ |
nigrahasthānam, anyatu na yuktamiti neṣyate ||
iṣṭasyārthasya siddhiḥ sādhanam. tasya nirvartakam aṅgam. tasya avacanaṁ tasyāṅgasyānuccāraṇaṁ vādino nigrahādhikaraṇam: tadabhyupagamya apratibhayā tūṣṇīmbhāvāt | sādhanāṅgasyāsamarthanād vā ||
2. [svabhāvahetau sādhanāṅgasamarthanam]
trividhameva hi liṅgamapratyakṣasya siddheraṅgam - svabhāvaḥ, kāryam, anupalambhaśca |
tasya samarthanaṁ sādhyena vyāptiṁ prasādhya dharmiṇi bhāvasādhanam | yathā 'yat sat kṛtakaṁ vā, tat sarvamanityam, yathā ghaṭādiḥ, san kṛtako vā śavdaḥ' iti |
3. atrāpi na kaścit kramaniyamaḥ, iṣṭārthasiddherubhayatrāviśeṣāt | |
yasmād dharmiṇi prāk sattvaṁ prasādhya paścādapi vyāptiḥ prasādhyata eva | yathā - ''san śabdaḥ kṛtako vā, yaścaivaṁ sa sarvo'nityaḥ, yathā - ghaṭādiḥ' iti |
4. atra vyāptisādhanaṁ viparyaye bādhakapramāṇopadarśanam |
yadi na sarvaṁ sat kṛtakaṁ vā pratikṣaṇavināśi syād, akṣaṇikasya kramayaugapadyābhyāmarthakriyā'yogād arthakriyāsāmarthyalakṣaṇamato vyāvṛttam - ityasadeva syāt |
sarvasāmarthyopākhyāvirahalakṣaṇaṁ hi nirupākhyamiti |
evaṁ sādhanasya sādhyaviparyaye bādhakapramāṇānupadarśane virodhābhāvādasya viparyayavṛtteradarśane san kṛtako vā syāt, nityaśca ityanivṛttireva śaṅkāyāḥ |
5. na ca sarvānupalabdhirbhāvasya bādhikā, tatra sāmarthyaṁ kramākramayogena vyāptaṁ siddham; prakārāntarābhāvāt |
tena vyāpakadharmānupalabdhirakṣaṇike sāmarthyaṁ bādhate |
kramayaugapadyāyogasya sāmarthyābhāvena vyāptisiddhernānavasthāprasaṅgaḥ |
6. atrāpyadarśanamapramāṇam, yataḥkramayaugapdyāyogasyaivāsāmarthyena vyāptyasiddheḥ pūrvakasyāpi hetoravyāptiḥ | ihāpi punaḥ sādhanopagame'navasthāprasaṅga iti cet | na; abhāvasādhanasyādarśanasyāpratiṣedhāt |
yadadarśanaṁ viparyayaṁ sādhayati hetoḥ sādhyaviparyaye, tadasya viruddhapratyupasthānād bādhakaṁ pramāṇamucyate |
evaṁ hi sa hetuḥ sādhyābhāve'san sidhyet, yadi tatra pramāṇavatā svaviruddhena bādhyeta | anyathā tatrāsya bādhakāsiddhau saṁśayo durnivāraḥ |
tato vyatirekasya sandehādanaikāntikaḥ syāddhetvābhāsaḥ |
nāpyadarśanamātrād vyāvṛttiḥ; viprakṛṣṭeṣvasarvadarśino'darśanasyābhāvāsādhanād, arvāgdarśanena satāmapi keṣāñcidarthānāmadarśanāt |
7. bādhakaṁ punaḥ pramāṇam | yatra kramayaugapadyāyogo na tasya kvacit sāmarthyam | asti cākṣaṇike sa iti pravartamānamasāmarthyamasallakṣaṇamākarṣati | teha 'yat sat kṛtakaṁ vā tadanityameva' iti sidhyati |
tāvatā sādhanadharmamātrānvayaḥ sādhyadharmasya svabhāvahetulakṣaṇaṁ ca siddhaṁ bhavati |
evaṁ svabhāvahetuprayogeṣu samarthitaṁ sādhanāṅgaṁ bhavati | tasyāsamarthanaṁ sādhanāṅgāvacanam | tad vādinaḥ parājayasthānam; prārabdhārthāsādhanāt | vastutaḥ samarthasya hetorupādāne'pi sāmarthyāpratipādanāt |
8. [kāryahetau sādhanāṅgasamarthanam]
kāryahetāvapi sādhanāṅgasya samarthanam | yat kāryaṁ liṅgaṁ kāraṇasya sādhanāyopādīyate, tasya tena saha kāryakāraṇabhāvaprasādhanaṁ bhāvābhāvaprasādhanapramāṇābhyām | yathā - 'idamasmin sati bhavati', 'satsvapi tadanyeṣu samartheṣu taddhetuṣu tadabhāve na bhavati' iti |
evaṁ hyasyāsandigdhaṁ tatkāryatvaṁ samarthitaṁ bhavati | anyathā kevalaṁ 'tadabhāve na bhavati' ityupadarśane anyasyāpi tatrābhāve sandigdhamasya sāmarthyam | anyat | tatra samarthaṁ, tadabhāvāt tanna bhūtam |
etannivṛttau punarnivṛttiryadṛcchāsaṁvādaḥ | mātṛvivāho hi tddeśajanmanaḥ piṇḍakharjūrasya deśāntareṣu mātṛvivāhābhāve'bhāvavat | evaṁ hi samarthitaṁ tat kāryaṁ sidhyati |
siddhiṁ tat svasambhavena tatsambhavaṁ sādhyati, kāryasya kāraṇāvyabhicārāt |
avyabhicāre ca svakāraṇaiḥ sarvakāryāṇāṁ sadṛśo nyāyaḥ |
evamasamarthanaṁ kāryahetāvapi sādhanāṅgāvacanaṁ tad vādinaḥ parājayasthānam | asamarthite tasmin kāryatvāsiddherarthāntarasya tadbhāvāpratibaddhasvabhāvasya bhāve tadbhāvaniyamābhāvāt, ārabdhārthāsiddhesarvastutaḥ kāryasyāpyupādāne tadapradipādanāt |
9. [anupalabdhāvapi sādhanāṅgasamarthanam]
anupalabdhāvapi pratipatturupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptasyānupalabdhisādhanaṁ samarthanam; tādṛśyā evānupalabdhe rasadvyavahārasiddheḥ | anupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptasya pratipattṛpratyakṣopalabdhinivṛttāvapyabhāvāsiddheḥ |
tatropalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptiḥ svabhāvaviśeṣaḥ kāraṇāntarasākalyaṁ ca | svabhāvaviśeṣo yanna tribidhena viprakarṣeṇa viprakṛṣṭam | yadanātmarūpapritibhāsavivekena pratipattṛpratyakṣapratibhāsarūpam | tādṛśaḥ satsvanyeṣūpalambhapratyayeṣu tathā'nupalabdho'sadvyavahāraviṣayaḥ, anyathā sati liṅge saṁśayaḥ |
10. atrāpi sarvamevaṁvidhamasadvyavahāraviṣaya iti vyāptiḥ, kasyacidasato'bhyupagame tallakṣaṇāviśeṣāt |
na hyevaṁvidhasyāsattvānabhyupagame'nyatra tasya yogaḥ | na hyevaṁvidhasya sataḥ satsvanyeṣūpalambhakāraṇeṣvanupalabdhiḥ | anupalabhyamānaṁ tvīdṛśaṁ nāstītyetā - vanmātranimitto'yamasadvyavahāraḥ, anyasya tannimittasyābhāvāt |
11. sarvasāmarthyaviveko nimittamiti cet | evametat, tasyaiva sarvasāmarthyavivekina evaṁ pratītiḥ, anyasya tatpratipattyupāyasyābhāvāt | tatpratipattau ca satyāmasadvyavahāra itīdaṁ tannimittamucyate |
12. buddhivyapadeśārthakriyābhyaḥ sadvyavahāro viparyaye cāsadvyavahāra iti cet | bhavati buddheryathoktapratibhāsāyāḥ sadvyavahāraḥ, viparyaye'sadvyavahāraḥ |
pratyakṣāviṣaye tu syālliṅgajāyā api kutaścit sadvyavahāraḥ |
asadvyavahārastu tadviparyaye'naikāntikaḥ, viprakṛṣṭe'rthe pratipattṛpratyakṣasya anyasya vā pramāṇasya nivṛttāvapi saṁśayāt |
13. na ca sarve buddhivyapadeśāstadbhedābhedau vā vastusattāṁ vastubhedābhedasattāṁ vā sādhayanti, astsvapi kathañcidatītānāgatādiṣu nānaikārthakriyākāriṣu vā'rtheṣu tadbhāvakhyāpanāya nānaikātmatā'bhāve'pinānaikarūpāṇāṁ vṛtteḥ - rājā mahāsammataḥ prabhavo rājavaṁśasya, saṅkhaścakravartī mahāsammatanirmitasya yūpasyotthāpayitā, śaśaviṣāṇaṁ, rūpaṁ sanidarśanaṁ sapratighaṁ ghaṭaśceti |
14. nahi sanidarśanādiśabdā nānāvastuviṣayāḥ, ekatropasaṁhārāt |
nānāviṣayatve'pyekatropasaṁhārastannimittānāṁ tattatsamavāyāditi cet | āyāse batāyaṁ tapasvī padārthe [padarthaḥ?] patito'nekasambandhinamupakṛtyānekaṁśabdamātmani tebhyaḥ samāśaṁsan ! sa yaiḥ śaktibhedairanekasambandhina mupakaroti tairevānekaṁ śabdaṁ kiṁ notthāpayati ! evaṁ hyanena pramparānusārapariśramaḥ parihṛto bhabati |
nānāśabdotthāpanāsāmarthye nānāsambandhyupakāro'pi mā bhūt, anupakāre hi teṣāṁ tatsambandhitā'pi na sidhyati | ghaṭa ityapi ca rūpādaya eva bahava ekārthakriyākāriṇa ekaśabdavācyā bhavantu, kimarthāntarakalpanayā ?
bahavo'pi hi ekārthakāriṇo bhaveyuḥ, cakṣurādivat | tatsāmarthyakhyāpanāya tatraikaśabdaniyogo'pi syāditi yuktaṁ paśyāmaḥ |
15. na ca niṣprayojanā lokasyārtheṣu śabdayojanā | tatra ye'rthāḥ saha pṛthagvā ekaprayojanāḥ teṣāṁ tadbhāvakhyāpanāya hi ekśabdo niyujyeta yadi, kiṁ syāt ? tadarthakriyāśaktikhyāpanāya niyuktasya samudāyaśabdasyaikavacanavirodho'pi nāstyeva; sahitānāṁ sā śaktirekā, na pratyekamiti |
samudāyaśabda ekasmin samudāye vācye ekavacanaṁ ghaṭa iti |
jātiśabdeṣvarthānāṁ pratyekaṁ sahitānāṁ ca śaktirnānaikā ca śaktiriti, nānaikaśaktivivakṣāyāṁ bahuvacanamekavacanaṁ cecchātaḥ, vṛkṣā vṛkṣamiti [? vṛkṣa iti] syāt |
yadyeṣa niyamo bahuṣveva bahuvacanam ekasminnekavacanamiti |
asmākaṁ tu sāṅketikeṣvartheṣu saṅketavaśāt tāvitya bhiniveśa eva |
16. nāneko rūpādirekaśabdotthāpane samartha iti cet | kiṁ vai puruṣavṛtteranapekṣāḥ śabdānarthaḥ svayamutthyāpayanti, āhosvit puruṣaiḥ śabdā vyavahārārthamartheṣu niyujyante? svayamutthāpane hi bhāvaśaktiḥ, āśaktirvā cintyeta | na ca tadyuktam, puruṣaisteṣāṁ niyoge yatheṣṭaṁ niyuñjīranniti kastatropānambhaḥ ?
nimittaṁ ca niyogasyoktameva |
api ca - yadi na rūpādīnāmekena śabdena sambandhaḥ, kathamekenaiṣā - māśrayābhimatena dravyeṇa sambandha iti kevalamayamasadbhūtābhiniveśa eva |
na vayamekasambandhavirodhādekaṁ śabdaṁ necchāmaḥ, api tvabhinnānāṁ rūpādīnāṁ ghaṭakambalādiṣu nānārthakriyāśabdavirodhāt te ekarūpāḥ samudāyāntarā - sambhāvinīmarthakriyāmeva na kuryuḥ, tena tatprakāśanāyaikenāpi śabdenocyeran |
bhavatu nāma kasyacidiyaṁ vāñchā - bhaveyurekarūpā rūpādayaḥ sarvasamudāyeṣu iti | kimidaṁ parasparaviviktarūpapratibhāsādhyakṣadarśanamenāmupekṣate ?
aniṣṭaṁ cedaṁ rūpādīnā| pratisamudāyaṁ svabhāvabhedopagamāt |
17. yadyanya eva rūpādibhyo ghaṭaḥ syāt kiṁ syāt ?
astu, tasya pratyakṣasya sato'rūpādirūpasya tadvivekena buddhau svarūpeṇa pratibhāsane kimāvaraṇam ?
pratibhāsamānāśca vivekena pratyakṣārthā dṛśyante'pṛthagdeśatve'pigandharasādayaḥ. vātātapasparśādayaścaikendriyagrāhyatve'pi |
idameva ca pratyakṣasya pratyakṣatvaṁ yadanātmarūpādivivekena svarūpasya buddhau samarpaṇam | ayaṁ punarghaṭādiramūlyadānakrayī yaḥ svarūpaṁ ca nopadarśayati, pratyakṣatāṁ ca svīkartumicchati |
18. etena buddhiśabdādayo'pi vyākhyātāḥ, yadi taistatsādhanamiṣyate |
na ca pratyakṣasyānabhibhave rūpānupalakṣaṇam; yena tatsādhanāya liṅgamucyate | apratyakṣatve'pyapramāṇasya sattopagamo na yuktaḥ | tanna rūpādibhyo'nyo ghaṭaḥ evaṁ tāvanna buddhivyapadeśābhyāṁ sattāvyavahāraḥ, sattābhedābhedavyavahāro vā | ata eva na tadviparyayād viparyayaḥ |
19. arthakriyātastu sattāvyavahāraḥ syāt, na sattābhedābhedavyavahāraḥ, ekasyāpyanekārthakriyādarśanāt | yathā pradīpasya vijñānavartivikārajvālāntarotpādanāni | anekasyāpi cakṣurāderekavijñānakriyādarśanāt |
na brūmaḥ - arthakriyābhedamātreṇa sattābheda iti | kiṁ tarhi ? adṛṣṭārthakriyābhedena | yā arthakriyā yasminnadṛṣṭā punardṛśyate sā sattābhedaṁ sādhayati | yathā mṛdyadṛṣṭā satyudakadhāraṇādyarthakriyā ghaṭe dṛśyamānā | adṛṣṭā ca tantuṣu prāvaraṇādyarthakriyā paṭe dṛsyate iti sattābhedaḥ |
sidhyatyevamarthāntaraṁ, tathā'pyavayavī na sidhyati | yathāpratyayaṁ saṁskārasantatau svabhāvabhedo tpatterarthakriyābhedaḥ | araṇinirmathanāvasthādāvivāgneḥ sthūlakarīṣatṛṇakāṣṭhadahanaśaktibhedaḥ, tathā yathāpratyayaṁ svabhāvabhedotpattestantvādiṣvarthakriyābhedaḥ |
etena buddhivyapadeśabhedābhedau vyākhyātau |
20. tatrayaduktam - 'arthakriyātaḥ sattāvyavahārasiddhiḥ, viparyayād viparyayaḥ' iti; satyametat | sa eva tu viparyayo'nupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāpteṣu na sidhyati |
tatra punaridamanicchato'pyāyātam - 'yasyedaṁ sāmarthyamupalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptaṁ sannopalabhyate, so'sadvyavahāraviṣayaḥ, sāmarthyalakṣaṇatvāt sattvasya' iti |
tathāpi ko'tiśayaḥ pūrvakādasya ? na hi svabhāvādarthāntaraṁ sāmarthyam | tasyopalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptasya yo'nupalambhaḥ sa svabhāvasyaiveti pūrvakaiveyamanupalabdhiḥ |
tasmādanena kvacit keṣāñcidasadvyavahāramabhyupagacchatā ato'nupalambhādabhyupagantavyaḥ |
so'nyatrāpi tathāvidhe'viśiṣṭa iti so'pi tathāstu iti | na vā kvacid, viśeṣābhāvāt | vyāptiḥ - sarva evaṁvidho'nupalabdho'sadvyavahāraviṣaya iti |
21. naiva kaścit kvacit kathañcidanupalabdho'pyasadvyavahāraviṣaya iti cet | sarvasya sarvarūpāṇāṁ sarvadā'nivṛtteḥ sarvaṁ sarvatra sarvadā samupayujyeta |
idaṁ ca na syāt - 'idamataḥ', 'nāta idam', 'ihedam', 'iha nedam', 'idānīmidam', 'idānīṁ nedam', 'idamevam' 'idaṁ naivam' iti; kasyacidapi rūpasya kathañcit kvacit kadācid viviktahetorabhāvāt | ananvayavyatirekaṁ viśvaṁ syāt, bhedābhāvāt |
avasthānivṛttipravṛttibhedebhyo vyavastheti cet | nanvata eva sarvaviṣayasyāsadvyavahārasyābhāvānna te sambhavanti, yatastebhyo vyavasthā syāt |
kvacid viṣaye'sadvyavahāropagame sa kuta iti vaktavyam | na hyanupalambhādanyo vyavacchedaheturasti; vidhipratiṣedhābhyaṁ vyavacchede sarvadā'nupalambhasyaiva sādhanatvāt |
anupalambhādeva tadabhyupagame, sa yatraivāsti sarvo'sadvyavahāraviṣaya iti vaktavyam, viśeṣābhāvāt |
22. sarvapramāṇanivṛttiranupalabdhiḥ | sā yatra so'sadviṣaya [ ? so'sadvyavahāra-viṣaya] iṣṭa iti cet | sukumāraprajño devānāmpriyo na sahate pramāṇacintā - parikleśaṁ, yena nātrādaraṁ kṛtavān !
na hyanumānādinivṛttirabhāvaṁ gamayati, vyabhicārāt | na sarvapratyakṣanivṛttiḥ, asiddheḥ |
nātmapratyakṣāviśeṣanivṛttirapi viprakṛṣṭeṣu |
tasmāt svabhāvaviśeṣo yataḥ pramāṇānniyamen sadvyavahāraṁ pratipadyate, tannivṛttistasyāsadvyavahāraṁ sādhayati, tatsvabhāvasattāyāḥ tatpramāṇāsattayā iṣṭeḥ |
na copalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptasyārthasyāpraptyakṣādanyopalabdhiḥ, yenānumānādasyopalabdhiḥ syāt | na ca tadrūpānyathābhāvamantareṇāpratyakṣatā, anyathābhāve ca tadeva na syāt |
api ca - kuta idamamantrauṣadhamindrajānaṁ bhāvena śikṣitam, yadayamajātānaṣṭarūpātiśayo'vyavadhānadūrasthānastasyaiva tadavasthendriyādereva puruṣasya kadācit pratyakṣaḥ, apratyakṣaśca; yena kadācidasyānumānamupalabdhiḥ, kadācit pratyakṣaṁ, kadācidāgamaḥ ! ekasminnevānatiśaye amīṣāṁ prakārāṇāṁ virodhāt |
23. nānatiśayanivṛttyā, [naikātiśayanivṛtyā ?] aparātiśayotpattyā ca tairvyavahārabhedopagamāt |
so'tiśayastasyātmabhūto'nanvaye [ ... nanvayaḥ ?] nivartamānaḥ pravartamānaśca kathaṁ na svabhāvanānātvamākarṣayati, sukhaduḥkhavat | sānvayatve ca kā kasya pravṛttirnivṛttirvā iti yatkiñcidetat |
athavā yadi ca kasyacitsvabhāvasya pravṛttirnivṛttirveti svayamapyabhyanujñāyate, tadetadeva paro bruvāṇāḥ kimiti nānumanyate ?
tasya niranvayopajananavināśopagamāditi cet |
ko'yamanvayo nāma ? bhāvasya janmavināśayoḥ śaktiḥ; sā'styeva prāgapi janmano nirodhādapyūrdhvam | tenāyaṁ nāpūrvaḥ sarvathā jāyate, na pūrvo vinaśyatīti |
yadi sā sarvadā'natiśayā, kimidānīmatiśayavad yatkṛto'yaṁ vyavahāravibhāgaḥ ?
tā avasthā atiśayavatya iti cet, tā avasthāḥ sā ca śaktiḥ kimeko bhavaḥ ? āhosvit nānā ? ?
ekaścet kathamidānīmidamekatrāvibhaktātmani niṣparyāyaṁ parasparavyāhataṁ yokṣyate - janmājanma, nivṛttiranivṛttiḥ, ekatvaṁ nānātvaṁ, pratyakṣatā'pratyakṣatā, arthakriyopayogaḥ anupayogaścetyādi |
24. asti paryāyo'vasthā śaktiriti, tenāvirodha iti cet | vismaraṇaśīlo devānāmpriyaḥ prakaraṇaṁ na lakṣayati | śaktiravasthetyeko bhāvo'vibhāga iti yat ko'yaṁ virodha uktaḥ ?
athāpyanayorvibhāgaḥ, nakaścid virodhaḥ, kevalaṁ sānvayau bhāvasya janmavināśau iti na syāt |
tasmād yasyānvayo na tasya janmavināsau, yasya ca tau na tasyānvayaḥ |
tayorabhedādadoṣa iti ced, anuttaraṁ bata doṣasaṅkaṭamatrabhavān dṛṣṭirāgeṇa pravesyamāno'pi nātmānaṁ| cetayati | abhedo hi nāmaikyam, 'tau' ityayaṁ ca bhedādhiṣṭhāno bhāviko vyavahāraḥ | nivṛttiprādurbhāvayoḥ anivṛttiprādurbhāvau, sthitāvasthitiḥ ityādikaṁ nānātvalakṣaṇaṁ ca kathaṁ yotsyate ?
atha hi bhāvānāṁ bheda etadvirahaścābhedaḥ, yathā - sukhādiṣu śaktyavasthayoccaikātmani | anyathā bhedābhedalakṣaṇābhāvād bhedābhedayoravyavasthā syātsarvatra |
tadātmani prādurbhāvo'bhedaḥ, viparyaye bhedaḥ, yathā - mṛdātmani prādurbhavato ghaṭasya tasmādabhedaḥ, bhedaśca viparyaye sukhaduḥkhayoriti idaṁ bhedābhedalakṣaṇaṁ, tenāvirodha iti cet |
na vai mṛdātmani ghaṭasya prādurbhāvaḥ | kiṁ tarhi ? mṛdātmaiva kaścid ghaṭaḥ, na hyekastrailokye mṛdātmā | prativijñaptipratibhāsabhedaśca dravyasvabhāvabhedāt | evaṁ hyasyāpi sukhādiṣu caitanyeṣu bhedāvagamaḥ samartho bhavati |

satyapyetasmin kasyacidātmano'nvayā devamiti cet | sukhādiṣvapyayaṁ prasaṅgaḥ caitanyeṣu ca |
na ca ghaṭādiṣvapi sarvātmanā'nvayaḥ, avaiśvarūpyasahotpattyādiprasaṅgāt |
na ca ghaṭaṁ mṛdātmānaṁ ca kaścid vivekenopalakṣayati, yenaivaṁ syādidamiha prādurbhūtamiti |
na hyadhiṣṭhānādhiṣṭhāninorvivekenānupalakṣaṇe evaṁ bhavati | na ca śakteḥ śaktyātmani prādurbhāvaḥ iti tasyāḥ svātmano'bhedo na syāt !
25. etenaiva pariṇāmaḥ pratyuktaḥ | yo'pi hi kalpayed - 'yo yasya pariṇāmaḥ sa tasmādabhinnaḥ' iti | na hi śaktirātmanaḥ pariṇāma iti |
kiñcedamuktaṁ bhavati - pariṇāma ityavasthitasya dravyasya dharmāntaranivṛttiḥ, dharmāntaraprādurbhavaśca pariṇāmaḥ |
yattaddharmāntaraṁ nivartate prādurbhavati ca, kiṁ tat tadevāvasthitaṁ dravyaṁ syāt, tato'rthāntaraṁ vā, anyavikalpābhāvat ?
yadi tattadeva, tasyāvasthānānna nivṛttiprādurbhāvāviti kasya tāviti vaktavyam |
avasthitasya dharmāntaramiti ca na sidhyati | na hi tadeva tasyānapāśritavyapekṣābhedaṁ dharmāntaraṁ bhavati |
atha dravyādarthāntaraṁ dharmaḥ, tadā tasya nivṛttiprādurbhāvābhyaṁ na dravyasya pariṇatiḥ | na hyarthāntaragatābhyāṁ syāt nivṛttiprādurbhāvābhyāmarthāntarasya pariṇatiḥ, caitanye'pi prasaṅgāt |
dravyasya dharma iti ca vyapadeśo na sidhyati, sambandhābhāvāt | na hi kāryakāraṇabhāvādanyo vastusambandho'sti |
na cānayoḥ kāryakāraṇabhāvaḥ, svayamatadātmano'tatkāraṇatvāt, dharmasya dravyādarthāntarabhūtatvāt |
arthāntaratve'pi dharmakāraṇatve, arthāntarasya kāryasyotpādanāt dravyasya pariṇāmaḥ itīṣṭaṁ syāt | tadviruddhasyāpi hetuphalasantāne mṛddravyākhye, pūrvakānmṛtpiṇḍadravyāt kāraṇāduttarasya ghaṭadravyasya kāryasyotpattau 'mṛd dravyaṁ pariṇatam' iti vyavahārasyopagamāt |
na ca dharmasya dravyāt tattvānyatvābhyāmanyo vikalpaḥ sambhavati, ubhayathā yena pariṇāmaḥ |
26. na nirvivekandravyameva dharmaḥ, nāpi dravyādarthāntaram, kiṁ tarhi ? dravyasya sanniveśo'vasthāntaram, yathā aṅgulīnāṁ muṣṭiḥ | na hyaṅulya eva nirvivekā muṣṭiḥ, prasāritānāmamuṣṭitvāt |
nāpyarthāntaraṁ, pṛthaksvabhāvānnopalabdhiriti cet | na, muṣṭeraṅguliviśeṣatvāt | aṅgulya eva hi kāścana muṣṭiḥ, na tu sarvāḥ | na hi prasāritā aṅgulyo nirvivekasvabhāvāḥ muṣṭyaṅgulyaḥ, avasthādvaye'pi ubhayapratipattiprasaṅgāt |
yatra cahi khalu vivekaḥ svabhābhūtaḥ, sa eava vastubhedalakṣaṇaṁ sukhuduḥkhavat |
parabhūte ca vivekotpāde'ṅgulyaḥ prasāritā evopalabhyeran | na hi svayaṁ svabhāvādapracyutasyārthāntarotpāde'nyathopalabdhi ratiprasaṅgāt |
nanūktaṁ, 'dravyameva nirvivekamavasthā, nāpi dravyādarthāntaram' iti |
uktamidaṁ, na punaryuktam | na hi sato vastunastattvānyatve muktvā anyaḥ prakāraḥ sambhavati, tayorvastuni paraspara parihāra-sthitilakṣaṇatvenaikatyāgasyāparopādānanāntarīyakatvāt |
aṅgulīṣu punaḥ pratikṣaṇavināśinīṣvanyā eva prasaritaḥ anyā muṣṭiḥ |
tatra muṣṭyādiśabdā viśeṣaviṣayāḥ, aṅgulīśabdaḥ sāmānyaviṣayaḥ, bījāṅkurādiśabdavat, vrīhyādiśabdavacca | tenāṅgulyaḥ prasāritā na muṣṭiḥ |
27. tadyadi prāgasadeva kāraṇe kāryaṁ bhavet, kiṁ na sarvaḥ sarvasmāt bhabvati, na hyasattve kaścid viśeṣa iti ?
nanu sarvatra sattve'pyayaṁ tulyo doṣaḥ - na hi sattve kaścid viśeṣaḥ, viśeṣe vā sa viśeṣa straigunyād bhinnaḥ syāt, tadbhāve viśeṣasyānanvayāt |
sataśca sarvātmanā niḥsvabhāvāvasthāyāmiva kiṁ jāyate ? sādhanavaiphalyaṁ ca, sādhyasya kasyacidabhāvāt |
yasya kasyacidatiśayasya tatra kathañcidasata utpattau so'tiśayastatra asan kathaṁ jāyeta ? jāto vā sarvaḥ sarvasmājjāyeta iti tulyaḥ paryanuyogaḥ |
nātiśayastatra sarvathā nāsti, kathañcitsata eva bhāvāditi cet | yathā nāsti sa prakāraḥ, tatra asan kathaṁ jāyeta ?
28. na ca sarvathā sataḥ kaścijjanmārtha ityuktam | asato'pi kāryasya kāraṇādutpāde yo yajjananasvabhāvastata eava tasya janma, nānyasmāditi niyamaḥ |
tasyāpi sa svabhāvaniyamaḥ svahetorityanādisvabhāvaniyamaḥ |
api ca - yadi mṛtpiṇḍe ghaṭo'sti, kathaṁ tadavasthāyāṁ na paścādvadupalabdhiḥ, tadarthakriyā vā ?
vyakteraprādurbhāvāditi cet | tasyā eva tadarthakriyādibhāve ghatvāt tadrūpasya ca prāgasattvāt kathaṁ ghaṭo'sti ? na hi rūpāntarasya sattve rūpāntaramasti |
na ca rūpapratibhāsavede vastvabhedo yuktaḥ, atiprasaṅgāt |
29. tasmād yaḥ upalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptasvabhāvānupalabdhiḥ sa nāstyeva | na hi tasyatatsvabhāvasthitāvanupalabdhitaḥ, asthitiścātattvam, parasparaṁtathāsthitayoreva [tathāsthitayoriva? ] sukhaduḥkhayoriti vyāptiḥ, asadvyavahāraniścayena anupalabdhiviśeṣasya | tenānupalabdhyā kasyacid vyavacchedaṁ prasādhayatā tasya yathoktopalabdhilakṣaṇaprāptirūpatā darśanīyā |
upadarśyānupalabdhinirdeśāsamarthanaṁ svabhāvānupalabdhau, vyāpakānupalabdhāvapi dharmayorvyāpyavyāpakabhāvaṁ prasādhya vyāpakasya nivṛttiprasādhanaṁ samarthanam |
kāraṇānupalabdhāvapi kāryakāraṇabhāvaṁ prasādhya kāraṇasya nivṛtti prasādhanaṁ samarthanam |
tadviruddhopalabdhiṣvapi dvayorviruddhayorekasya viruddhasyopararśanaṁ samarthanam |
evamanupalabdhau sādhanāṅgasyāsamarthanaṁ sādhanāṅgāvacanam | tad vādino nigrahasthānasamarthane [ ? nigrahasthānam, asamarthane] tasmin vyāpyāsiddheḥ |
30. athavā - sādhyate yena pareṣāmapratīto'rtha iti sādhanaṁ, trirūpahetu-vacanasamudāyaḥ | tasyāṅgaṁ pakṣadharmādivacanam | tasyaika-syāpyavacanamasādhanāṅga-vacanaṁ, tadapi vādino nigrahasthānam | tadavacane heturūpasyaivāvacanam, avacane siddherabhāvāt |
31. [pratijñādīnāmasādhanāṅgatvam]
athavā - tasyaiva sādhanasya yannāṅgaṁ pratijñopanayanigamanādi tasyāsādhanāṅgasya sādhanavākye upādānaṁ vādino nigrahasthānaṁ, vyarthāmidhānāt |
anvayavyatirekavacanayorvā sādharmyavati vaidharmyavati ca sādhanaprayoga ekasyaivābhidhānena siddherbhāvād dvitīyasyāsāmarthyamiti tasyāpyasādhanāṅgasyābhidhānaṁ nigrahasthānaṁ, vyarthābhidhānādeva |
nanu ca viṣayopadarśanāya pratijñāvacanamasādhanāṅgamapyupādeyameva | na, vaiyarthyāt | asatyapi pratijñāvacane yathoktāt sādhanavākyād bhavatyeveṣṭārthasiddhirityapārthakaṁ tasyopādānam |
yadi ca viṣayopadarśanamantareṇa pratīterutpattiḥ, kathaṁ na pratijñā sādhanādayaḥ [sadhanāvayavaḥ? ] ? na hi pakṣadharmavacanasyāpi pratītihetubhāvādanyaḥ sādhanārthaḥ, sa pratijñāvacane'pi tulya iti kathaṁ na sādhanam ?
kevalasyāsāmarthyādasādhanatvamiti cet | tattulyaṁ pakṣadharmavacanasyāpīti tadapi na sādhanāvayavaḥ syāt |
na hi pakṣadharmavacanāt kevalā [kevalāt?] pratipatterutpattiḥ |
etena saṁśayotpattiḥ pratyuktā, pakṣadharmavacanādapi kevalādapradarśite sambandhe saṁśayotpatteḥ |
tasmād vyarthameva sādhanavākye pratijñāvacanopādānaṁ vādino nigrasthānam |
32. athavā sādhanasya siddheryannāṅgam - asiddhaḥ, viruddhaḥ anaikāntiko vā hetvābhāsaḥ tasyāpi vacanaṁ vādino nigrahasthānam, asamarthopādānāt |
tathā sādhyādivikalasya anvayāpradarśitānvayā tairapi [? ananvayāpradarśitānvayāderapi] dṛṣṭāntābhāsasya sādhanāṅgasya [?asādhanāṅgasya] vacanamapi vādino nigrahasthānam asamarthopādānādeva | na hi tairhetoḥ sambandhaḥ śakyate pradarśayitum | apradarśanādasāmarthyam |
33. athavā - siddhiḥ sādhanaṁ, tadaṅgaṁ dharmo yasyārthasya vivādāśrayasya vādaprastāvahetoḥ sa sādhanāṅgaḥ | tadvayatirekeṇāparasyāpyajijñāsitasya viśeṣasyāśāstrāśrayavyājādibhiḥ prakṣepo moṣaṇaṁ [ghoṣaṇaṁ?] ca paravyāmohanānubhāṣaṇa-śaktivighātādihetoḥ, tadapyasādhanāṅgavacanaṁ vādino nigrahasthānam, aprastutābhidhānāt |
ebhiḥ kathāviccheda eva; tathā viśeṣasahitasyārthasya prativādino'jijñāsitatvāt | jijñāsāyāmadoṣḥ | jijñāsitaṁ punararthasyānyasya prasaṅgaparaṁparayā ye ṣa pannādinā (?) bahiḥ prativādinaḥ, prāśnikānāṁ ca nyāyadarśināmiti |
ebhiḥ kathāviccheda eva karaṇīyaḥ | na hi kaścidarthaḥ kvacit kriyamāṇaprasaṅge na prayujyate, nairātmyavādinastu tatsādhane nṛtyagītyāderapi tatra prasaṅgāt |
yathā - pratijñābhidhānapūrvakaṁ kaścit kuryāt - 'nāstyātmā' iti vayaṁ bauddhā brūmaḥ | ke bauddhāḥ ? ye buddhasya bhagavataḥ śāsanamabhyupagatāḥ | ko buddho bhagavān ? yasya śāsane bhadantāśvaghoṣaḥ pravrajitaḥ | ka ḥ punarbhadantāśvaghoṣaḥ ? yasya rāṣṭrapālaṁ nāma nāṭakam | kīdṛśaṁ rāṣṭrapālaṁ nāma nāṭakam ? iti prasaṅgaṁ kṛtvā 'nāndyante tataḥ praviśati sūtradhāraḥ' iti paṭhet, nṛtyed, gāyecca | prativādī taṁ ca sarvaprasaṅgaṁ nānukartuṁ samartha iti parājitaḥ syāt | iti sabhyaḥ sādhusammatānāṁ viduṣāṁ tattvacintāprakāraḥ !
34. na caivaṁ prastutasya paryavasānaṁ sa bhavati [? sambhavati], 'aniścaya phalatvādanārambha eva vādasya |
kathaṁ caiva jayaparājayau ? prativādino'pyananubhāṣaṇasyaivamprakārasya prasaṅgasya vistareṇānubhāṣaṇavyājena sambhavād, aniscitatvācca |
tasmāt pratijñāvacanameva tāvanna nyāyyam | kutaḥ punastatrājijñāsitaviśeṣaprasaṅgopanyāsaḥ, tadvyākhyāprasaṅgavitathapralāpaśca ?
sarvaścāyaṁprakāro durmatibhiḥ śaṭhairnyāyasāmarthyenārthapratipādane'samarthaiḥ pravartitaḥ |
yathā - 'puruṣātiśayapūrvakāṇi tanubhuvanakaraṇādīni' iti pratijñāya tanukaraṇabhuvanavyākhyāvyājena sakalavaiśeṣikaśāstrārthaghoṣaṇam |
'nityaḥ śabdo'nityo vā' iti vāde dvādaśalakṣaṇaprapañcaprakāśanaśāstra praṇetṛ-jaiminipratijñātatattvanityatādhikaraṇaśabdaghaṭānyatarasadvitīyo ghaḥṭa iti pratijñāmuparacayya dvādaśalakṣaṇādivyākhyānam |
sarvo'yaṁ durmatīnāmasāmarthyapracchādanopāyaḥ, na tu satyairastyupetaḥ, tattvaparīkṣāyāṁ phalādipratisaraṇadaṇḍaprayogādīnāmayuktatvāt |
35. bhavatyeva nāṭakādighoṣaṇe'rthāntaragamanāt parājaya iti cet, anyasyāpyajijñāsitasya kiṁ na bhavati ? na hi tasyāpi kācid vivakṣitasādhyadharmasiddhau nāntarīyakatā | yathā hetupratyayapāratantryalakṣaṇasaṁskāraduḥkhatādisiddhimantareṇa nānityatāsiddhiḥ |
tathāvidhastu dharmaḥ pṛthaganukto'pi sādhyadharme'ntarbhāvāt pakṣīkṛta eveti na pṛthagasyopanyāsaḥ, vyākhyānaṁ vā | tasmādevaṁvidhasyāpi tadānīṁ prativādino jijñāsitasyārthasya pratijñāyāmanyatraivopanyāso vyākhyānaṁ vā arthāntaragamanānnigrahasthānameva |
tena jijñāsitadharmamātrameva sādhanāṅgaṁ vācyaṁ, na prasaṅga upakṣeptavyaḥ, tadupakṣepe'tiprasaṅgāt |
evamasādhanāṅgavacanaṁ vādino nigrahasthānaṁ prativādinā tathābhāve pratipādite, anyathā dvayorekasyāpi na jayaparājayāviti |
36. [adoṣodbhāvanaṁ nigrahasthānam]
adoṣodbhāvanaṁ prativādino nigrahasthānam | vādinā sādhane pratyukte'bhyupagatottarapakṣo yatra viṣaye prativādī yadā na doṣamudbhāvayati, tadā parājito vaktavyaḥ |
sādhanadoṣāḥ punaḥ - nyūnatvam, asiddhiḥ, anaikāntikatā, vādinaḥ sādhayitumiṣṭasyārthasya viparyayasādhanam, aṣṭādaśa dṛṣṭāntābhāsāśca | teṣāmanudbhāvanamapratipādanaṁ prativādinaḥ parājayādhikaraṇam |
tat punaḥ sādhanasya nirdoṣatvāt, sadoṣatve'pi prativādino'jñānāt, pratipādanāsāmarthyād vā |
na hi duṣṭa sādhanābhidhāne'pi vādinaḥ prativādino'pratipādite doṣe parājayavyavasthāpanā yuktā, tayoreva parasparasāmarthyopaghātāpekṣayā jayaparājayavyavasthāpanāt |
kevalaṁ hetvābhāsād bhūtapratipatterabhāvāda pratipādakasya jayo'pi nāstyeva | na hi tattvacintāyāṁ kaścicchalavyavahāraḥ |
yadyevaṁ, kiṁnu parājayaḥ, tattvasiddhibhraṁśāt ? na anirākaraṇāt | nirākaraṇaṁ hi tasyānyena parājayaḥ, na siddhyabhāvaḥ, pratiyogyapekṣaṇāt | siddhyabhāvasya sādhanābhāve'satyapi pratiyogini bhāvāt | pratiyoginaśca tannirākaraṇe'sāmarthyāt parājayasyānutpatteraparājayaḥ |
tasmādayamasamarthasādhanābhidhāyyapi pareṇa tathābhāve'pratipādite'parājito vaktavyaḥ |
37. [vāde chalavyavahāraniṣedhaḥ]
chalavyavahāro'pi vijigīṣuṇaṁ vāda iti cet | na, durjanavipratipattyadhikāre satāṁ śāstrāpravṛtteḥ | na hi parānugrahapravṛttā mithyāpralāpārambhāt sotkarṣaparapaṁsanādīn [svotkarṣaparapaṁsanādīn ?] asadvyavahārān upadiśanti | na ca paravipaṁsanena lābhasatkāraślokopārjanaṁ satāmācāraḥ |
nāpi tathāpravṛttebhyaḥ svahastadānena prāṇināmupatāpanaṁ satsammatānāṁ śāstrakāra sabhāsadāṁ yuktam | na ca nyāyaśāstrāṇi sadbhirlābhādyupārjanāya praṇīyante |
tasmānna yogavihitaḥ kaścid vijigīṣuvādo nāma | parānugrahapravṛttāstu santo vipratipannaṁ pratipādayanto nyāyamanusareyuḥ satsādhanābhidhānena, bhūtadoṣodbhāvanena vā |
sākṣipratyakṣaṁ tasyaivānuprabodhāya | tadeva nyāyānusaraṇaṁ satāṁ| vādaḥ - uktanyāye tattvārthī cet pratipadyeta, tadapratipattāvapyanyo na vipratipadyeteti |
tattvarakṣaṇārthaṁ sadbhirupahartavyameva chalādi vijigīṣubhiriti cet | nakhacapeṭaśastraprahārādīpanādibhirapīti vaktavyam ! tasmānna jyāyānayaṁ tattvarakṣaṇopāyaḥ |
sādhanaprakhyāpanaṁ satāṁ tattvarakṣaṇopāyaḥ, sādhanābhāsadūṣaṇaṁ ca | tadabhāve mithyāpralāpādatra paropatāpavidhāne'pi tattvāpratiṣṭāpanāt | anyathāpi nyāyopavarṇane vidvatpratiṣṭhānāt |
tasmāt parānugrahāya tattvakhyāpanaṁ vādino vijayaḥ, bhūtadoṣadarśanena mithyāpratipattinivartanaṁ prativādinaḥ |
38. athavā - yo na doṣaḥ sādhanasya, tadbhāve'pi vādinā tadasādhayitum [tadā sādhayitum ?] iṣṭasyārthasya siddhervighātābhāvāt, tasyodbhāvanaṁ prativādino nigrahādhikaraṇaṁ, mithyottarābhidhānāt | yathā sādhyatayā'niṣṭo'pi vādino dharmaḥ śāstropagamāt sādhya iti tadviparyāsena na virodhodbhāvanam |
'nāstyātmā' iti tava pratijñāpadayorvirodha iti pratijñādoṣodbhāvanaṁ, 'prayatnāntarīyakaḥ śabdo'nityaḥ, prayatnāntarīyakatvād' iti hetordharmaviśeṣatvāt pratijñārthaikadeśa ityasiddhodbhāvanaṁ, sarvāṇi sādharmyavaidharmyasamādīni jātyuttarāṇi ityevamāderdoṣasyodbhāvanamadoṣodbhāvanam | tasya vādinā doṣābhāsatve prakhyāpite prativādī parājito vaktavyaḥ, pūrvapakṣe sādhanasya nirdoṣatvāt |
doṣavati punaḥ sādhane na dvayorekasyāpi jayaparājayau, tattvāprakhyāpanāt, adoṣodbhāvanaṁ ca | apratipakṣāyāṁ ca pakṣasiddhau kṛtāyāṁ jetā bhavati |
tasmājjigīṣatā svapakṣaśca sthāpanīyaḥ, parapakṣaśca nirākartavyaḥ |
nirdoṣe sādhanābhidhāne'pi vādinaḥ prativādinā doṣābhāsa udbhāvite dūṣaṇābhāvatvakhyāpane eva jayaparājayau, nānyathā, bhāvatastattvābhidhāne'pi pratipakṣanirākaraṇena tattvasya prakhyāpanāsāmarthyāt, na prativādinno'pyatra, bhāvato mithyāpratipatteriti |
idaṁ nyāyyaṁ nigrahasthānalakṣaṇamuktamasmābhiḥ |

39. anyatu na yuktamiti neṣyate | yatredaṁ yathoktaṁ nigrahasthānalakṣaṇaṁ nāsti, tasya nigrahasthānatvamayuktamiti noktamasmābhiḥ |

tatra dṛṣṭaścāsāvante ca vyavasthita iti dṛṣṭāntaḥ | svadṛṣṭāntaḥsvapakṣaḥ | pratidṛṣṭāntaḥ pratipakṣaḥ | pratipakṣasya dharmaṁ svapakṣe'bhyanujānan parājitaḥ | yathā 'anityaḥ śabda aindriyakatvād' iti bruvan pratipakṣavādini sāmānyena pratyavasthite āha - 'yadi sāmānyamaindriyakaṁ nityaṁ śabdo'pyevamastu' ityeṣā pratijñāhāniḥ, prākpratijñātasya śabdānityatvasya tyāgāditi |
40. atropagatapratijñātyāgāt pratijñāhānau viśeṣapratiniyamaḥ kiṁkṛto'nena prakāreṇa pratijñāṁ tyajataḥ pratijñāhāniriti |
sambhavati hyanenāpi prakāreṇa hetudoṣodbhāvanādinā pratipakṣasādhanābhidhānena ca svapakṣaparityāgaḥ, parapakṣopagamaśca |
idameva ca pratijñāhāneḥ pradhānaṁ nimittam | evaṁ pratipāditena pratijñā hātavyā, hānau ca parājaya iti |
41. idaṁ punarasambhaddhameva - 'sāmānyaṁ nityamaindriyakam' ityukte 'śabdo'pyevamastu; iti kaḥ svasthātmāsvayamaindriyakatvādanityaḥ śabdo ghatavaditi bruvan sāmānyenopadarśanamātreṇa nityaṁ śabdaṁ pratipadyeta ?
sāmānyasyāpi nityasyaindriyakatve tasyānitye ghaṭe darśanāt saṁśayitaḥ syāt | jātyā pratipadyetāpīti cet | tathapi kiṁ sāmānyopadarśanena ?
evameva nityaḥ śabdaḥ iti vaktavyam, jaḍasya pratipattau vicārābhāvāt |

[2] 'pratijñātārthapratiṣedhe dharmavikalpāt tadarthanirdeśaḥ pratijñāntaram |' [nyā. sū. 5.2.3] pratijñāto'rtho'nityaḥ śabda aindriyakatvādityeva, tasya hetuvyabhicāropadarśanena pratiṣedhe kṛte dharmabhedavikalpāt sāmānyaghaṭayo sarvagatatvāsarvagatatvadharmavikalpena pratijñāntaraṁ karoti - yathā ghaṭo'sarvagato'nityaḥ evaṁ śabdo'pyasarvagato'nitya iti | etatpratijñāntaraṁ nāma nigrahasthānaṁ sādhanasāmarthye'pyaparijñānāt | sa hi pūrvasyāḥ 'anityaḥ śabda' iti pratijñāyāḥ sādhanāttadā yām 'asarvagataḥ śabda' iti pratijñāmāha, taddarśanāya taddarthanirdeśa ityāha | tadarthaḥ pūrvoktasādhyasiddhyarthaḥ | uttarapratijñānirdeśastadarthanirdeśaḥ | na ca pratijñā pratijñāntarasādhane samarthā, iti nigrahasthānam
43. atrāpi naivaṁ bruvatā pratijñāntaraṁ pūrvapratijñāsādhanāyoktaṁ bhavati | kiṁ tarhi ? viśeṣaṇam | aindriyakatvasya hetoḥ sāmānye vṛttyā vyabhicāra udbhāvite'sarvagatatve satyaindriyakatvasyahetorviśeṣaṇopādāne vyābhicāraṁ pariharati, na punaḥ pratijñāntaramāha; asarvagatatvasya śabde siddhatvāt, pratijñāyāśca sādhyanirdeśalakṣaṇatvāt |
yadapyuktaṁ - 'pūrva pratijñāsādhanāyottarāṁ pratijñāmāha' iti, tadapyuktam | na hi pratijñā pratijñāsādhanāyocyamānā pratijñāntaraṁ bhavati | kiṁ tarhi ? hetvāderanyatamaḥ sādhyasādhanāyopādānāt | sādhananirdeśaḥ sa syāt, na sādhyanirdeśaḥ |
udāharaṇasādharmyādeśca hetulakṣaṇasyāsarvagatatve bhāvāt, pratijñālakṣṇasya cābhāvāt | hetutvamasarvagatatve prayuktaṁ na pratijñāntaram |
44. atyantāsambaddhaṁ cedaṁ - pratijñāṁ pratijñāsādhanāyāheti | yo hi prāk pratijñāmuktvā hetūdāharaṇādikaṁ vaktuṁ jānāti, sa kiñcidanukramaṁ [kañcidanukramaṁ ?] sādhanasya jānātyeva hi | jānan kathamavikalāntaḥkaraṇaḥ pratijñāmeva pratijñāsādhanāyopādadīta ?
upādadatā cānena pratijñāmātreṇa siddhiriṣṭā bhavati | tataśca na prāgapi hetuṁ brūyāt |
evaṁprakārāṇāmasambaddhānāṁ parisaṁkhyātumaśakyatvāt lakṣaṇaniyamo'pyasambadaddha eva - pratijñāntarābhidhāne pratijñāntaraṁ nāma nigrahasthānamiti | evamprakārāṇāmekameva lakṣaṇaṁ vācyaṁ syāt |
na caivaṁvidhaḥ kaścid vivādeṣu dṛṣṭapūrvo vyavahāro yena tadarthaṁ yatnaḥ kriyate | na ca bālapralāpānuddiśya śāstraṁ pravartate | pravṛttau ca kā niṣṭā, teṣāmaniṣṭhānāt ?
45. dṛśyate ca viduṣāmapi nātinirūpaṇādasiddhābhidhānamiti vyavahāradarśanāt tādṛśaṁ parājayādhikaraṇaṁ vyavasthāpyate | tasmādihāpi yadi nivṛttākaṁkṣe vādini paro'naikāntikatāmudbhāvayed, asādhanāṅgasyānaikāntikasyābhidhānānnigrahasthānaṁ vādinaḥ |
evaṁ yadi prativādī satsāmānyamaindriyakaṁ nityaṁ ca pramāṇena pratipādayituṁ śaknuyāt anuddiśyāpramāṇakaṁ śāstropagamaṁ, pramāṇenaiṣāmarthānāmapratipādanena bhūtadoṣodbhāvanametat | na kaścitparājayaḥ, abhyupagamamātreṇa vastusiddherabhāvāt, prativādinā doṣasyāpratipāditatvāt |
pramāṇairasamarthitasādhanābhidhānāt tu jetā'pi na bhavatīti |
anityākāṁkṣe [? anivṛttākāṁkṣe] punarvādini na kaścad doṣoḥ, viśeṣaṇābhidhānena hetoḥ samarthanopakramāt |

svapakṣānapekṣaṁ ca | yaṁ ca svapakṣānapekṣaṁ hetuṁ prayuṅkte - 'anityaḥ śabdaḥ aindriyakatvād' iti, tasya svasiddhasya gotvāderanityavirodhād viruddhaḥ | iti parapakṣeṣvasiddhena gotvādinā'naikāntikacodanāviruddhaḥ |

yadi pratijñānapekṣoḥ virodhaḥ syāt, syāt parājayāśrayaḥ | pratijñādhikaraṇatve punastatprayogakṛta eva parājayaḥ, asya prastāvopasaṁhārāvasānatvād vyarthaṁ virodhodbhāvanam, parājitaparājayābhāvād bhasmīkṛtānalavat |
ye tu kecid vicāraprasaṅgeṣu ekatra sādhye bahavo hetava ucyante, teṣa| vikalpena tatsādhyasādhanāya vṛtteḥ sāmarthyam, anyathā dvitīyasya vaiyarthyāt |
yadi hi tatrāpyekaprayogamantareṇāparasya prayogo na sambhavet, na tadā dvitīyasya kaścit sādhanārthaḥ, pratītapratipādanābhāvāt |

yathā kvacid arthe vipratipattau prasiddhamanekārthasāmānye śabdaprayogamupadarśya pratipāditavipratipattisthānaḥ sāmānyenopasaṁharati - sarvaṁ pṛthagiti |
yadi dṛṣṭāntaprayogaḥ, kimṛjunaivatatprayogakrameṇa na prayuktaḥ, vipratipattiviṣayaśca kiṁ na darśita iti cet |
na, samāsanirdeśāt | evamapi prayogadarśanād, asādhanavākyatvācca |

api ca - sarvatrāyaṁ pratijñāhetvorvirodhaḥ sambhavan dvayīṁ doṣajātimabhipatati viruddhatāmasiddhatāṁ ceti |
viruddhatā siddhe hetordharmiṇi bhāve sādhyadharmaviparyaya eva, bhāva pratijñāvirodhāt |
asiddhatāpunardharrmiṇi pratijñātārthasiddhau, viruddhayoḥ svabhāvayoḥ ekatrāsambhavāt, na cānyathā virodhaḥ |

sādhāraṇāyāmaprasādhite vā tadvṛttiniyame'naikāntikaḥ | avṛttau vā'sādhāraṇaḥ |
viruddhadṛṣṭāntāvṛttau viparyayavṛttau ca na kaścid hetudoṣaḥ, dṛṣṭāntavirodhaśca pratijñāyā iti cet |

pratijñāyā pramāṇavirodhaḥ svavacanavirodhena vyākhyātaḥ iti sarve evaite sādhanavirodhe hetvābhāseṣvantarbhavantīti hetvābhāsavacanenaivoktāḥ |
57. yattu viruddhamuttaraṁ parapakṣe svasiddhena gotvādinānaikāntikacodaneti, tadasambaddhameva | yadi hi svasiddhena gotvādinā parasya vyabhicārasiddhimākāṅkṣeta, tasya tatsvapakṣaviruddhaṁ nābhimatamiti virodho yujyeta | sa hi svayaṁ pratipanne gotve hetuvṛtteḥ saṁśayāno'pratipattimātmanastathā khyāpayati |
sa ca hetuḥ satyasati gotve'prasādhitasādhanasāmarthyaḥ saṁśaye hetutvādanaikāntika eva |
prasādhite tu sāmarthye gotve'vṛttyā hetau na saṁśaya eva, sarvasaṁśayaprakārāṇāṁ parihāreṇa samarthanāt |
etena svapakṣānapekṣahetuprayogasyānaikāntikatā vyākhyātā | so'pi svābhimatanityagotvavṛttihetumanityatve bruvāṇo'samarthatayā'sādhanāṅgatayā saṁśayahetumevāheti |
yatpunaruktam - ubhayapakṣasampratipannena vastunā'naikāntikacodaneti, tatrāpyavaśyaṁ saṁśayahetutvamukhenaivānaikāntiko vaktavyaḥ | tadasamarthite'nyatrāpi tulyamiti nobhayasiddhetarayoranaikāntikatvaviśeṣaḥ |
58. yadapyuktaṁ - 'dṛṣṭāntābhāsā hetvābhāsapūrvakatvāt tadabhidhānenaivoktā iti na pṛthag nigrahasthāneṣūktāḥ' iti tadapyavayavāntaravādino'yuktam | yo'vayavāntaraṁ dṛṣṭāntahetoḥ [dṛṣṭāntaṁ hetoḥ? ] āha tasya na hetvābhāsoktyā dṛṣṭāntābhāsoktirvyāpyā, tadvacanena gamyamānsya tasmāt sādhanāntarābhāvaprasaṅgāt |
dṛṣṭāntābhāsānāṁ hetvābhāse'pyantarbhāvād dṛṣṭāntasyāpi hetāvantarbhāva iṣṭo bhavati | tathā ca na dṛṣṭāntaḥ pṛthaksādhanāvayavaḥ syād, apṛthagvṛtteḥ |
yo dṛṣṭāntasādhyo'rthastasya hetāvantarbhāvāddhetunaiva sādhita iti na dṛṣṭāntasya pṛthak kiñcitsāmarthyam |
api ca - na kiñcit pūrvapakṣavādino hetvābhāsāsaṁsparśe nyāyyaṁ nigrahasthānamastīti tatsambhandhīni sarvāṇyeva hetvābhāsatāvacanenaiva uktānīti na pṛthagvācyāni syuḥ |
arthāntaragamanāderapi hetoraśāmarthye eva sambhavāt | na hi samarthe hetau sādhye ca siddhe'rthāntaragamanaṁ kañcidārabhate, asamarthasya mithyāpravṛtteriti
59. [4] "pakṣapratiṣedhe pratijñātārthāpanayanaṁ pratijñāsaṁnyāsaḥ |" [nyā. sū.5.2.5] yaṁ pratijñātamartham ' anityaḥ śabdaḥ eindriyakatvād' iti sāmānyavṛttyā hetorvyabhicārapradarśanena saḥ pratiṣedhe kṛte, 'ka evamāha-anityaḥ śabdaḥ' iti parityajati, tasya pratijñāsaṁnyāso nāma nigrahasthānamiti |

syāt | pakṣapratiṣedhe tūṣṇīmbhavatastūṣṇīmbhāvo nāma nigrahasthānam, prapalāyamānasya prapalāyitaṁ nāmeti evamādyapi vācyaṁ syāt | tasmādetadapi asambaddhamiti |
60. [5.] 'aviśeṣokte hetau pratiṣiddhe viśeṣamicchato hetvantaram |" [nya.sū.5.2.6.] nidarśanam - 'ekaprakṛtīdaṁ vyaktaṁ, parimāṇāt, mṛtpūrvakāṇāṁ śarāvaprabhṛtīnaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ parimāṇam' iti |
asya vyabhicāreṇa pratyavasthānam - nānāprakṛtīnāmekaprakṛtīnāṁ ca dṛṣṭaṁ parimāṇamiti |
evaṁ pratyavasthita āha - ekaprakṛtisamanvayaprakārāṇāṁ pariṇāmadarśanāt [parimāṇadarśanāt?] sukhaḥduḥkhamohasamanvitaṁ hīdaṁ sarvaṁ vyaktaṁ parigṛhyate [parimitaṁ gṛhyate?] | tasya prakṛtyantararūpasamanvayābhāvo'sati [? prakṛtyantararūpasamanvayābhāve sati] ekaprakṛtikatvamiti tadaviśeṣokte hetau pratiṣedhaṁ bruvato hetvantaraṁ bhavati | sati hetvantarabhāve pūrvasya hetorasādhakatvānnigrahasthānam |
atrāpi pūrvasyaiva hetoranaikāntikasyābhidhānānnigṛhīte hetvantaracintā kvopayujyate ? yadi prāksādhanavādī hetumanaikāntikamuktvā dattottarāvasaraḥ tenaiva nigṛhyate | adattottarāvasaro hetvantarābhidhāne'pi na nigrahamarhati, avirāmāt |

[6.] "prakṛtādarthādapratibaddhārthamarthāntaram" [nyā.sū. 5.2.7.] yathoktalakṣaṇe pakṣapratipakṣaparigrahe hetutaḥ sādhyasiddhau prakṛtāyāṁ kuryāt-nityaḥ śabdo'sparśatvāditi hetuḥ | hetuśca nāma hinoterdhātostuśabde pratyaye kṛdantaṁ padam | padaṁ ca nāmākhyhātopasarganipātā iti prastutya nāmādīni vyācaṣṭe | | idamarthānantaraṁ nāma nigrahasthānam, abhyupagatārthāsaṅgatatvāditi |
nyāyyametannigrahasthānaṁ, pūrvottarapakṣavādinoḥ pratipādite doṣa prakṛtaṁ parityajyāsādhanāṅgavacanamadoṣodbhāvanaṁ ca | sādhanavādinā hyupanyastasādhanasya samarthane
kartavye tadakṛtvā parasya prasaṅgenāprasaṅgena vā'tannāntarīyakasyābhidhānamuttaravādino'pi doṣodbhāvanamātrādaparasyopakṣepa iti |
62. [7.] "varṇakramanirdeśavannirarthakam |" [nyā. sū.5.2.8] yathā 'nityaḥśabdo jabagaḍatvāt jhabhaghaḍhavad' iti | sādhanānupādānāt nigṛhyate iti |
idamapyasambaddham | na hi varṇakramanirdeśasiddhāvānarthakyaṁ yadeva kiñcidasādhanāṅgasya vacanaṁ tadevānarthakaṁ; sādhyasiddhyupayogino'bhidheyasyābhāvāt, niṣprayojanatvācveti | prakāraviśeṣopādānamasambaddham |
vaterupādānādadoṣa iti cet | syādetat varṇakramanirdeśavaditi vatiratropāttaḥ so'nyadāpi [so'nyadapi?] ananurūpaṁ gṛṇhāti ityadoṣaḥ iti |

āyātamiha - yo nirarthakaṁ bravīti, tasya tenaiva nigraha iti | tattunyaṁ sarvasyāsādhanāṅgavādina iti | sa sarvo nirarthakābhidhāno'pyanenaiva nigrahasthānena nigrahārhaḥ |
na ca varṇakramanirdeśaḥ sarvatra nirarthakaḥ; kvacitprakaraṇe tasyāpyarthavattvāt | tasmādatraivāsyānarthakyāt nigrahasthānatvam | api cānyadidamucyate - 'varṇakramanirdeśo nigrahasthānam' iti; kapolavāditakaṁkṣyaghaṭṭitakamityevamādīnāmapi vācyatvāt |
63. [8.] "parṣatprativādibhyāṁ trirabhihitamapyavijñātārtham |" [nya. sū. 5.2.9] yadvākyaṁ parṣadā prativādinā ca trirabhihitaṁ na vijñāyate kliṣṭaśabdamapratīta - prayogamatidrutoccāritamityevamādinā kāraṇena tadavijñātārthamasāmarthyasaṁvaraṇāya prayuktaṁ nigrahasthānamiti |
nedaṁ nirarthakād bhidyate; sapadiprakṛtārthasambaddhaṁ gamakamevakuryāt, nāsyāsāmarthyaṁ, na ca jāḍyāt parṣadādayo na pratipadyante iti na vidvānnigrahamarhati |
parṣatpratibhāsaparikalpyārhavacanāt nigrahārha eveti cet | nyāyavādino jāḍyāduktamajānan kiṁ na prativādī nigṛhyate ? jāḍyāt parṣadādeḥ avijñātapratipādanasāmarthya iti vijetā na syānna nigrahārhaḥ | asambaddhābhidhāne nirarthakameveti na pṛthak vivakṣitārthaṁ [vivakṣitam avijñātārthaṁ ?] nāma nigrahasthānamiti |
64. [9.] " paurvāparyāyogādapratibaddhārthamapārthakam |" [nyā. sū. 5.2.10] yatrānekasya padasya vākyasya vā paurvāparyeṇa yogo nāstītyasambaddhārthatā gṛhyate, tatsamudāyārthāpāyād apārthakaṁ daśadāḍimādivākyavat | idaṁ kila padānām asambaddhāt [asambandhāt ?] asambaddhavarṇāt nirarthakāt pṛthaguktam |
nanvevamasambaddhavākyamapi pṛthag vācyam; nobhayasaṅgrahādapārthakaṁ yuktam; nirarthakasya saṁgrahaprasaṅgāt |
evaṁvidhācca viśeṣasamāśrayāt pṛthag nigrahasthānalakṣaṇapralapane'tiprasaṅgo'pyuktaḥ | na ca saṅgrahanirdeśe kañciddoṣaṁ paśyāmaḥ | prabhede vā guṇāntaramiti yatkiñcidetat |
65. [10] "avayavaviparyāsavacanamaprāptakālam |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.11] pratijñādīnāṁ yathālakṣaṇamarthavaśāt kramaḥ, tatrāvayavānāṁ viparyayeṇābhidhānaṁ nigrahasthānam |
na; evamapi siddheriti cet | na; prayogāpetaśabdatulyatvāt | yathā- gaurityasya padasyārthe goṇīti prayujyamānaṁ padaṁ kakudādimantamarthaṁ pratipādayatīti na śabdārthākhyānaṁ vyartham | anena ca padena gośabdameva pratipadyate, gośabdat kakudādimantamartham, tathā pratijñādyavayavaviparyayeṇānupūrvīṁ pratipadyate, ānupūrvyā cārthamiti | tathā hi pūrvaṁ karmopādīyate mṛtpiṇḍādikaṁ loke, tataḥ karaṇam iti |
66. tadetadunmattakasyonmattakasaṁvarṇanamiva prayogāpetaśabdavadetaditi | yadi goṇīśabdāt kakudādimatyarthe pratītiśabdānvākhyānaprayatnena [? pratītiḥ, śabdānvākhyānaprayatne na] arthaṁ paśyāmaḥ |
goṇīśabdasyārthapratipādane'sāmarthyāt | satyaṁ dṛṣṭā, na tu sākṣādityuktam
nanu goṇīśabdādapi loke pratītirdṛṣṭā | satyaṁ dṛṣṭā, na tu sakṣādityuktam |
uktametanna punaryuktaṁ; strīśūdrāṇāmubhayapratīterabhāvāt | yaḥ khalu ubhayaṁ vetti, śabdamapaśabdaṁ ca, sa eva pratipadyate | yastu nakkaśabdaṁ mukkaśabdameva vā vetti, na nāsāśabdaṁ, sa kathamapaśabdācchabdaṁ pratipadetat, tato'rthaṁ pratipadyeta ?

na paramparayā pratītiḥ, arthe'samarthasya śabdo'pi pratītijananāsāmarthyācca |

na hyayamapaśabdaḥ śabde'pi svabhāvataḥ pratītiṁ janayati, adarśanāt samaya eva tu janayet | samayavaśāt pravartate |
evaṁ hi pratipattiparamparāpariśramaḥ parihṛto bhavati |
67. viparyayadarśanācca | śabdādarthamapratipadyamānā apaśabdaireva jñānaṁ vyutpadyamānā loke dṛsyante iti vyarthaṁ śabdānuśāsanam |
na vyarthaṁ, saṁskṛtaśabdavyutpattyarthamiti cet | ko'yaṁ śabdānāṁ saṁskāraḥ ? na hyeṣāṁ prajñābāhuśrutyādikaṁ saṁskāraṁ pasyāmaḥ |
nāpyeṣāmekāntena śravyatā | nāpyarthapratyāyane kaścidatiśayaḥ |
na dharmasādhanatā, mithyāvṛtticodanebhyaḥ saṁskṛtebhyo'pyadharmotpatteḥ |
anyebhyo'pi viparyayeṇa dharmotpatteḥ | śabddsya suprayogādeva svargamodanaghoṣaṇā vacanamātram | na caivaṁvidhānāgamānādriyante yuktijñāḥ |
na ca dānādidharmasādhanacodanāśūnyakevalaśabdasuprayogāt nagapātam iti bruvāṇasya kasyacinmukhaṁ vakrī bhavati | tasmānna saṁskṛto nāma kaścicchabdaḥ |
śiṣṭaprayogaḥ saṁskāra iti cet | ke śiṣṭāḥ ? ye viditavedyādiguṇayuktāḥ | kaḥ punareṣāṁ guṇotkarṣānapekṣo'līkanirbandho yatte'mūneva śabdān prayuñjate nāparān ? na cātra kaścicchabde 'parokṣaḥ sākṣī, yata idameva prayuñjate nāparān śiṣṭā iti niścinumaḥ |
nanvevaṁ [na tvevaṁ ?] vayaṁ guṇātiśayamapasyantaḥ saṁskāraṁ keṣāñcicchabdānāmanumanyāmahe, tadanvākhyānaṁ [tadanvākhyāne ?] yatnaṁ vā; guṇātiśayābhāvāt | vedarakṣādikaṁ cāprayojanameva atatsamayasthāyinaḥ | satyapi guṇātiśaye na karaṇīya evānvākhyāne yatnaḥ, tatsvabhāvasyānyato'pi siddheḥ | prākṛtāpabhraṁśadramiḍāndhrādibhāṣāvat | na hi pratideśaṁ bhāṣāṇāṁ kiñcillakṣaṇamasti | atha ca sampradāyasāmyāllokastathaiva pratipadyate, tāsāṁ ca prayogabhraṁśaṁ, tathā saṁskṛtānāṁ śabdānāṁ pratītirbhaviṣyati | iti jaḍapratipattirevaiṣā, yā śabdānāṁ lakṣaṇe pravṛttiḥ |
68. avayavaviparyaye'pi yadi teṣāṁ vacanānāṁ sambandhapratītiḥ, na viparyayaḥ nāpi arthāpratītiḥ; sāmarthyāt | na hyatra kaścit samayaḥ pratyāyānāviśeṣe'pi evameva avayavāḥ prayoktavyā iti |
sa eva teṣāṁ kramo yathā'vastitebhyo'rthapratītirbhavati | iti na viparyayāt pratītiḥ, tata ānupūrvīpratipattyā pratītiriti cet | nāpratīyamānasambandhebhyaḥ ānupūrvīpratipattiḥ |
yeṣāṁ śabdānāṁ kaścit sambandho jāyate [jñāyate ?] 'idamiha sambadhyate' iti, teṣu viditasambandheṣu kaḥ kasya pūrvo'paro vā kramaḥ, yo yathāvasthitānāṁ sambandhaḥ pratīyate | na hi vākyeṣu padānāṁ kramaniyamaḥ kaścit, yathā rājñaḥ puruṣaḥ, puruṣo rajña iti |
yāvadbhiḥ padairarthaparisamāptistadekaṁ vākyaṁ, yathā- 'devadatta gāmānaya kṛṣṇām' iti | atra padānāṁ yathākāmaṁ prayoge'pi nārthapratītau viśeṣa iti kaścit kramābhiniveśaḥ |
pratipāditaṁ ca pratijñāvacanāntareṇāpi yathā pratītirbhaviṣyatīti | pratīyamānārthasya śabdasya prayoge'tiprasaṅgaḥ | pariśiṣṭeṣu ca sambandhaṁ pradarśya dharmiṇi bhāvaḥ pradarśyeta, dharmiṇi bhāvaṁ pradarśya sambandhaḥ pradarśyeta iti na niyamaḥ kaścid; ubhayathā'pi pratītyutpatteḥ ityuktam | apratīyamānasambandheṣu ca padeṣu na tebhya ānupūrvyā api pratīteriti nedamapārthakād bhidyate iti nāprāptakālaṁ pṛthag vācyaṁ syāditi |
69. [11.] "hīnamanyatamenāpyavayavena nyūnam |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.12.] yasmin vākye pratijñādīnāmanyatamo'vayavo na bhavati, tadvākyaṁ hīnaṁ; sādhanābhāve sādhyāsiddheḥ |
na pratijñānyūnaṁ hīnaṁ; tadabhāve pratītibhāvāditi pratipāditam |
hīnameva tat; nyūnatāyāmapi nigrahādityaparaḥ |
yaḥ pratīyamānārthamanarthakaṁ śabdaṁ prayuṅkte, sa nigrahamarhet, nārthopasaṁhitasyābhidhāteti asamīkṣitābhidānametat | ata eva pratijñāyā na sādhanāṅgabhāva iti |
70. [12] "hetūdāharaṇādhikamadhikam |" [nyā.sū.5.2.13. ] ekena kṛtakatvād itarasya ānarthakyamiti tadetanniyamābhyupagame veditavyam | yatraikasādhanavākyaprayogapūrvako vicārastatrādhikābhidhānamanarthakamiti nigrahasthānam |
prapañcakathāyāṁ tu na kaścidoṣaḥ, niyamābhāvāditi |
71. [13.] "śabdārthayoḥ punarvacanaṁ punaruktamanyatrānuvādāt |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.14] śabdapunaruktam - anityaḥ śabdo'nityaḥ śabda iti | arthapunaruktam anityaḥ śabdo nirodhadharmako dhvāna iti |
atra na śabdapunaruktaṁ pṛthagvācyam: arthapunaruktavacanenaiva gatatvāt | na hyarthabhede śabdasāmye'pi kaścid doṣaḥ | yathā-
hasati hasati svāminyuccai rudatyabhiroditi |
kṛtiparikaraṁ svedo'ṅgāraṁ [svedodgāraṁ ?] pūrdhāvati [pradhāvati ?] dhāvati ||
guṇasamuditaṁ doṣāpetaṁ praṇindati nindati |
dhanalavaparikrītaṁ yantraṁ pranṛtyati nṛtyati ||
yathā vā- yadyasmin sati bhavati bhavati, na bhavati na bhavati tattasya kāryamitarat kāraṇamiti |
72. gamyamānārthaṁ punarvacanamapi punaruktam; niyatapradaprayoge sādhanavākye yathā pratijñāvacanamiti arthapunaruktenaiva gatārthatvānna pṛthagvācyam |
ayamapi niyatasādhanavākye eva doṣo vaktavyaḥ; na vistarakathāyām | vyācakṣāṇo hi kadācidasamyak śravaṇapratipattiśaṅkayā sākṣiprabhṛtīnāṁ punaḥ punarbrūyāditi na tatra kiñcicchalam |
nāviṣayatvāditi cet; nāyaṁ gururna śiṣya iti na yatnataḥ pratipādanīyaḥ, yena punaḥ punarucyate, iti punarvacane nigraha eveti cet | na; sākṣiṇāṁ yatnena pratipādyatvāt, tadpratipādane doṣābhidhānāt, pratipādyasya śiṣyatvāt, vijigīśuvādapratiṣedhatvāt, trirabhidhānavacanāt, punarvacanaprasaṅge samayaniyamābhāvācca |
73. na cedamadhikād bhidyate iti na pṛthagvācyam | viniyatapradaprayoge hi sādhanavākye ādhikyadoṣa iti punarvacane'pi gatārthasyādhikyameva padasyeti |
prapañcakathāyām anirūpitai kārthasādhanādhikaraṇāyāṁ nānārthasādhanepsāyāṁ nānāsādhanepsāyāṁ vā śrotuḥ hetvādi bāhulyasya punarvacanasya doṣatvāt | pratītapratyayābhāvād hetvādibāhulyaṁ vacanabāhulyaṁ ca sādhanadoṣa iti |
ādhikyapunarvacanayostulyadoṣa iti saṁgrahavacanaṁ nyāyyam; doṣābhāvādeva guṇābhāvāt, evamprakārāṇāṁ bhedānāṁ vacane cātiprasaṅgādityuktam |
paryāyaśabdakalpo hyaparo hetuḥ pratipādite viṣaye pravartamānaḥ' pratipādyasya viśeṣābhāvāt |
arthaḥ punaḥ pratipādanānna bhidyate |
74. yatpunaruktam- "anuvāde tvapunaruktaṁ; śabdābhyāsādarthaviśeṣopapatteḥ" | yathā "hetvapadeśāt pratijñāyāḥ punarvacanaṁ nigamanam" [nya. sū. 1.1.39] iti | pratijñāyā evaṁ [eva?] gamyamānārthāyā vacanaṁ punarvacanaṁ. kiṁ punarasyāḥ punarvacanam ityuyuktaṁ nigamanam |
75. [14.] "vijñātasya parṣadā trirabhihitasyāpratyuccāraṇamananubhāṣaṇam |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.17] vijñātavākyārthasya parṣadā trirabhihitasya yadapratyuccāraṇaṁ tadananubhāṣaṇaṁ nāma nigrahasthānamapratyuccārayan kimāśrayaṁ parapakṣapratiṣedha kuryāditi |
uttareṇāvasānānnedaṁ nigrahasthānamiti cet | syādetat | uttareṇa guṇadoṣavatā mūḍhāmūḍhatvaṁ gamyate iti kimuccāritena ? asti hi kaścid uttareṇa samartho na pratyuccāraṇena, nāsau tāvatā nigrahamarhediti | na: uttaraviṣayāparijñānāt | yadyayaṁ na pratyuccārayati, nirviṣayamuttaraṁ prasajyeta | athottaraṁ bravīti, kathaṁ noccārayati ? tadidaṁ vyāhatamucyate- 'noccārayati, uttaraṁ ca bravīti' iti | apratijñānācca | na cedaṁ na [? na cedaṁ ] parijñāyate- pūrvaṁ sarvamuccārayitavyaṁ paścāduttaramabhidhātavyamiti | apitu yathākathañciduttaraṁ vācyam uttaraṁ cāśrayābhāve'yuktamiti yuktamapratyuccāraṇaṁ nigrahasthānamiti |
76. yadi nāma vādī svas ādhanārthavivaraṇavyājena prasaṅgādaparaṁ ghoṣayed, vivādāspadaṁ ca jijñāsitamarthamātramukttvā pratijñādiṣvarthaviśeṣaparamparayā aparānarthānupakṣipya kathāṁ vistārayet, tacca sarvaṁ yadā nānuvaktuṁ śaknuyāt, kastasya vivādāśrayārthamātrottaravacane sāmarthyavighātaḥ yena vādivacanānubhāṣaṇaṁ nigrahasthānamucyate | tasmānna sarvaṁ vādikathāmananubhāṣamāṇo nottare samarthaḥ |
yadvacanāntarīyakā jijñāsitārthasiddhiḥ, yathā pakṣadharmatāvyāptiprasādhanamātraṁ, na tatrāpi prasaṅgāntaropakṣepaḥ, tadavaśyaṁ sādhanāṅgaviṣayatvād dūṣaṇasya upadarśyata eva | tatrāpi na sarvaṁ prāganukrameṇoccārayitavyaṁ, paścād dūṣaṇaṁ vācyaṁ; dviruccāraṇaprasaṅgāt | dūṣaṇaviṣayopadarśanārthe'nubhāṣaṇe vādivacanānukramaghoṣaṇaṁ vyarthamiti na kāryameva dūṣayatā | 'asyāyaṁ doṣoḥ' iti nāntarīyatvāt pratidoṣavacanaṁ viṣayopadarśanaṁ kriyate eva |
77. na hi sarvaviṣayopadarśanaṁ kṛtvā yugapad doṣaḥ śakyate'bhidhātum; pratyarthaṁ doṣabhedāt | tasmād yaṁ padārthaṁ dūṣayati, sa eva taddūṣaṇaviṣayastadā pradarśanīyaḥ | nāparastuḥ; dūṣṇe'paropadarśanasyāsambhavāt | tasmin dūṣite punaranyo'rtho'paradoṣaviṣaya ityayamanubhāṣaṇe dūṣaṇe ca nyāyaḥ |
sakṛt sarvānubhāṣaṇe'pi doṣavacanakāle punarviṣayaḥ pradarśanīya eva; apradarśite doṣasya vaktumaśakyatvāt | tathā ca dviranubhāṣaṇaṁ kṛtaṁ syāt | tatra prathamaṁ sarvānukramānubhāṣaṇaṁ niṣprayojanam | dūṣaṇavādinā dūṣaṇe vaktavye yanna tatropayujyate tasyābhidānamadoṣodbhāvanam | dviruktiśca | iti sakṛt sarvānubhāṣaṇaṁ parājayādhikaraṇaṁ vācyam |
tathā'stviti cet | syādetat | uktametadarthāntaraṁ nigrahasthānamiti | tatra sādhane yataḥ kutaścit prasaṅgādinā nāntarīyakābhidhāna| ['nāntarīyakābhidhānaṁ ?] vādino'rthāntaragamanameveti sa nigrahārhaḥ | na kaścit kvacit kriyamāṇaprasaṅgo na prayujyate, nāpi tat tasyānubhāṣaṇīyam | na cedamapyasmābhiranujñāyate- sarvaṁ prāk sakṛdvaktavyaṁ, paścāddūṣaṇamiti | kintu dūṣayatā'vaśyaṁ viṣayo darśanīyaḥ, anyathā dūṣaṇāvṛtteriti |
78. evaṁ tarhi nānanubhāṣaṇaṁ pṛthag nigrahasthānaṁ vācyam, apratibhayā gatatvāt | uttarasya hyapratipattirapratibhā [nyā.sū. 5.2.18] | na cottaraviṣayamapradarśayan uttaraṁ pratipattuṁ sararthaḥ | na hyanākṣiptānuttarapratipattikamananubhāṣaṇam | tenānanubhāṣaṇasya vyāpikāyāmapratibhāyāṁ vihitaṁ nigrahasthānatvam ananubhāṣaṇam [ananubhāṣaṇe?] | gavyaparāmṛṣṭatadbhedāyāṁ vihitamiva sāsnādimattvaṁ bāhuleye'pi | tasmādpratibhaiva nigrahādhikaraṇatvena vā [vācyā?] nānanubhāṣaṇam |
kaścāyaṁsamayaniyamastrirabhihitasyānanubhāṣaṇamiti ? yadi tāvat parapratyāyanārthā pravṛttiḥ, kiṁ trirabhidhīyeta ? tathā tathā sa grāhaṇīyo yathā'sya pratipattirbhavati | atha paropatāpanārthā tadāpi kiṁ trirabhidhīyate ? sākṣiṇāṁ karṇe nivedya prativādī kaṣṭāpratītadrutasaṁkṣisādibhirupadrotavyaḥ, yathottarapratipattivimūḍhastūṣṇīmbhavati | na hi paropatāpanakrame kaścinnyāyaḥ, yena kaṣṭāpratītaprayogadrutoccāritā nivāryante, trirabhidhānaṁ vā vidhīyate | na ca paropatāpāya santaḥ pravartante, śāstrāṇi vā praṇīyante ityado vakttavyam ! tasmāttāvadvaktavyaṁ, yāvadanena na gṛhītam | na trireva |
agrahaṇasāmarthye prāgeva vā paricchinnasāmarthye parihartavyaḥ punaranupratibodhyeti |
79. [15.] "avijñātamajñānam |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.17] vijñātaṁ parṣadā prativādinā yadavijñātaṁ tadajñānaṁ nāma nigrahasthānam | arthe khalvavijñāte na tasya pratiṣedhaṁ grūyāditi |
etadapyananubhāṣaṇavadatreti tatraiva gamyatvādavācyam | yathā'nanubhāṣaṇe'pradarśitaviṣayatvāduttarapratipattiraśakyeti anuttarapratipattyaiva nigrahasthānatvam; uttaraviṣayapradarśanaprasaṅgamantareṇānubhāṣaṇasya vaiyarthyāt |
tathā'jñāne'pyuttarāpratipattyaiva nigrahasthānatvam | ajānānaḥ kathamuttaram uttaraviṣayaṁ ca brūyāt ? iti viṣayājñānamuttarājñānaṁ ca nigrahasthānam | anyathā evaṁ sati apratibhayā [? apratibhāyā] nirviṣayatvāt |

80. nottarajñānam [? nottarājñānam] ajñānam | kiṁ tarhi ? viṣayājñānam | jñāte hi viṣaye uttarājñānāt tanna pratipadyeteti asti viṣayo'pratibhāyā iti cet | evaṁ tarhi ananubhāṣaṇaṁ nirviṣayam; ajñānenākṣepāt | na hi viṣayaṁ samyak pratipadyamānaḥ kaścinnānubhāṣeteti nānanubhāṣaṇaṁ pṛthag vācyam |
uttarājñānasya cākṣepāt | viṣayājñānenottarājñānamapyākṣiptameva na hi viṣayamajānannuttaraṁ jānātīti naivāpratibhāyā viṣayo'sti |
jñāte'pi viṣaye punaruttarājñānamapratibhāyā viṣaya iti cet | evaṁ tarhi viṣayottarājñānayorapi prabhedāt nigrahasthānāntarālavācyāni [nigrahasthānāntarāṇi vācyāni ?] | yathā'jñānasya viṣayo jñānam [? viṣayājñānam ] uttarājñānamiti prabhedādasatyapi guṇātiśaye nigrahasthānāntaravyavasthā kriyate, tathā'jñānayorapi sarvottarājñānamityādi prabhedānnigrahasthānāntarāṇi kiṁ nocyante ? na cobhayasyāpyajñānasya saṁgrahavacane doṣaḥ, guṇastu lāghavasaṁjñaḥ syāditi saṁgrahavacanaṁ nyāyyam | tasmādananubhāṣaṇājñānayorapratibhāviṣayatvānna pṛthagvacanam |
api ca - na pūrvottarapakṣavādino hetvābhāsāpratibhābhyāmanyat nigrahasthānaṁ nyāyyamasti, tadubhayavacanenaiva sarvamuktamiti | tadubhayākṣiseṣu prabhedeṣu guṇātiśayamantareṇa vacanādare'tiprasaṅgāt vyarthaḥ prapañca iti |
81. [16.] "uttarasyāpratipattirapratibhā |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.18] parapakṣapratiṣedhe uttaraṁ yadā na pratipadyate, tadā nigṛhīto vaktavyaḥ |
sādhanavacanānantaraṁ prativiṣayamuttare vyarthaṁ tadajñānakramaghoṣaṇaślokapāṭhādinā kālaṁ gamayan kartavyāpratipattyā nigrahārha iti nyāyyaṁ nigrahasthānamiti |
82. [17.] "kāryavyāsaṅgāt kathāvicchedo vikṣepaḥ |" [nyā. sū. 5.2.20] yatkiñcit kartavyaṁ vyāsajya kathāṁ vicchinatti | 'idaṁ me karaṇīyaṁ prahīyate, asminnavasite paścāt kariṣyāmi | pratiśyākalāme kaṇṭhaṁ kṣiṇoti' - ityevamādinā kathāṁ vicchinatti | sa vikṣepo nāma nigrahasthānamekataranigrahāntāyāṁ kathāyāṁ svayameva kathāntaṁ pratipadyate iti |
idamapi yadi pūrvapakṣavādī kuryād vyājopakṣepamātreṇa, na punarbhūtasya tathāvidhakathoparodhinaḥ karyasya bhāve, tasya svasādhanāsāmarthyaparicchedādeva vikṣepaḥ syāt | tathā cedamarthāntaragamane evāntarbhavet; asamarthasādhanābhidhānāt hetvābhāseṣu vā | prakṛtasādhanāsambaddhapratipatteśca nirarthakāpārthakābhyāṁ ca na bhidyate | atiprasaṅgaścaivamprakārāṇāmasambaddhasādhanavākyapratipattibhedānāṁ pṛthag nigrahasthānavyavasthāpane proktaḥ |
athottaravādī evaṁ vikṣipet, sādhanānantaram uttare pratipattavye tadapratipattyā vikṣepapratipattirapratibhāyāmarthāntare vā'ntarbhavati |
83. nanu nāvaśyaṁ sādhanadūṣaṇābhyāmeva sarvasya pratipattiḥ, yena sarvā vādiprativādinorna samyak pratipatterhetvābhāse'rthe pratibhāyāṁ vāntarbhavāt | bhavati hi anibaddhenāpi kathāprapañcena vivāda iti | na; asambhavāt | ekatrādhikaraṇe viruddhābhyupagamayorvivādaḥ syāt; aviruddhābhyupagamayoranabhyupagamayorvā virodhābhāvāt | tatrāvaśyamekasya vāgvacanapravṛttiḥ; yugapatpravṛttau parasparavacanagrahaṇāvadhāraṇottarāṇāmasambhavena pravṛttivaiphalyāt svasthātmanāmapravṛtteḥ | tena ca svopagamopanyāse'vaśyaṁ sādhanaṁ vaktavyaṁ; anyathā pareṣāmaprattipatteḥ | apareṇa ca tatsambandhi dūṣaṇam | ubhayorasamyakpratipattau hetvābhāsāpratibhayoḥ prasaṅga iti sarvo nyāyapravṛttaḥ pūrvottarapakṣopanyāso dvayaṁ nātipatati |
etenaiva vitaṇḍā pratyuktā; abhyupagamābhāve vivādābhāvāt |
84. yadā tarhyabhyupagamya vādaṁ viphalatayā na kiñcid vakti, anyadvā yatkiñcit pralapati, tadā kathaṁ hetvābhāsāntarbhāvaḥ ?
asamarthitasādhanābhidhāne evamuktam | anabhidhānānyābhidhānayorapi parājaya evetyuktam; abhyupagamya vādamasādhanāṅgavacanāt |
etenādhikasya punaruktasya ca pratijñādervacanasya na nigrahasthānatvaṁ vyākhyātam | tadapi hi pratipāditārthaviparyayatvātsādhanasāmarthyavidhānamapratītapratyayatayā na lakṣaṇāt sādhanasya | asādhanāṅgavacanamiti nigrahasthānamiti |
85" [18.] :svapakṣadoṣābhyupagamāt parapakṣe doṣaprasaṅgo matānujñā |" [nyā. sū. 5.2.21] yaḥ pareṇa coditaṁ doṣamanuddhṛtya bhavato'pyayaṁ doṣa iti bravīti, yathā - 'bhavāṁścauraḥ puruṣatvāt' ityukte sa taṁ prati brūyād-bhavānapīti | sa svapakṣe doṣābhyupagamāt parapakṣe taṁ doṣaṁ prasañjayan paramatamanujānātīti matānujñā nigrahasthānamiti |
atrāpi yadi puruṣatvāccauro bhavānapi syāt, na ca bhavatātmaivamiṣṭaḥ, tasmānnāyaṁ cauryaheturiti yadyayamabhiprāyaḥ, tadā na kaściddoṣaḥ, anabhimate tadātmani cauratvena hetudarśane dūṣaṇāt |
prasaṅgamantareṇaivamṛjunaiva krameṇa kiṁ na vyabhicārita iti cet | yatkiñcidetat | santi hyevamprakārā api vyavahārā loka iti |
atha tadupakṣepamabhyupagacchati, etadapi uttarāpratipattyaiva tatsādhane nigrahārhaḥ | nāparatra; svadoṣopakṣepāt | tatsādhananirdoṣatāyāṁ hi tadabhyupagama evottarāpratipattiriti tāvataiva pūrvamāpannanigrahasya paradoṣopakṣepasyānapekṣaṇīyatvāditi |
86. [19.] : nigrahaprāptasyānigrahaḥ paryanuyojyopakṣaṇam |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.22]paryanuyojyo gāma nigrahopapattyā codanīyaḥ | tasyopekṣaṇaṁ nigrahaprāptau satyananuyogaḥ | etacca 'kasya parājayaḥ' ityanuyuktayā parṣadā vaktavyaṁ, na khalu nigrahaprāptaḥ svakaupīnaṁ vivṛṇuyāditi |
atrāpi yadi sādhanavādinaṁ nigrahaprāptamuttaravādī na paryanuyuṅkte, aprati-bhaivāsyottarāpratipatteriti na paryanuyojyopekṣaṇaṁ pṛthag nigrahasthānam | nyāyacintāyāṁ punarna dvayorekasyāpyatra jayaparajājayau; sādhanābhāsenārthāpratipādanāt, bhūtadoṣānabhidhānācca |
87. atha kañciddoṣamudbhāvayati, kañcinna, na tadā nigrahamarhati; uttarapratipatteḥ | arhatyeva, sato doṣasyānudbhāvanāditi cet | na santa iti kṛtvā sarve doṣā avaśyaṁ vaktavyāḥ |
avacane vā nigrahaḥ; ekenāpi tatsādhanavighātādekasādhanavacanavat |
yathaikasyārthasyānekasādhanasadbhāve'pyekenaiva sādhanena tatsiddherna sarvopādānam iti na doṣamudbhāvayannevāparasyānudbhāvanānnigrahārhaḥ pūrvavat |
atha pūrvapakṣavādī uttarapakṣavādinaṁ nigrahaprāptaṁ na nigṛṇhāti, tadā tayornyāye naikasyāpi pūrvavat jayaparājayau; doṣābhāsaṁ bruvāṇamuttaravādinaṁ svasādhanādanutsārayato'samarthitasādhanatvānna jayo vādinaḥ; sarvadoṣāsambhavapradarśanena sādhanāṅgāsamarthanāt | nāpyuttaravādinaḥ, ubhayadoṣāpratipādanāt |
tasmādevamapi na paryanuyojyopekṣaṇaṁ nāma parājayādhikaraṇamiti |
88. [20.] "anigrahasthāne nigrahasthānānuyogo niranuyojyānuyogaḥ |" [nyā. sū. 5.2.23] nigrahasthānalakṣaṇasya mithyāvyavasāyādanigrahasthāne nigṛhīto'sīti paraṁ bruvan niranuyojyānuyogānnigṛhīto vaktavyaḥ |
atrāpi yadi tatsādhanavādinamabhūtaistaddoṣairuttaravādyabhiyuñjīta, so'sthāne nirdoṣe nigrahasthānasya niyoktodbhāvayitā na bhavati tathā | bhūtadoṣodbhāvanalakṣaṇasyottarasyā-pratipatteritareṇottarābhāsatve pratipādite'pratibhayaiva nigṛhīta iti nedamato nigrahasthānāntaram |
athottaravādinaṁ sādhanadoṣamudbhāvayantamaparo doṣābhāsavacanenābhiyuñjīta, tasya tena bhūtadoṣatve pratipādite sādhanābhāsavacanenaiva nigṛhīta iti |
evamapi nedaṁ hetvābhāsebhyo bhidyate | avaśyaṁ hi viṣayāntaraprāptyarthaṁ hetvābhāsā nigrahasthānatvena vaktavyāḥ, taduktāvaparoktiranarthiketi |
89. [21.] "siddhāntamabhyupetyāniyamāt kathāprasaṅgo'pasiddhāntaḥ |" [nyā. sū. 5.2.24] kasyacidarthasya tathābhāvaṁ pratijñāya pratijñātārthaviparyayāt kathāprasaṅgaṁ kurvato'pasiddhānto vijñeyaḥ | tathā 'na sato vināśaḥ, nāsadutpadyate' iti siddhāntamabhyupetya pakṣamavasthāpayati - 'ekāntā prakṛtiḥ vyaktasya avyaktalakṣaṇā; vikārāṇām anvayadarśanāt | mṛdanvayānāṁ śarāvādīnāṁ dṛṣṭamekaprakṛtikatvam | tathā cāyaṁ vyaktabhedaḥ sukhaduḥkhamohasamanvito gṛhyate, tatsukhādibhirekaprakṛtiḥ' iti |
sa evamuktavān paryanuyujyate - atha prakṛtirvikāra iti kathaṁ lakṣayitavyam ? yasyāvasthitasya dharmāntaranivṛttau dharmāntaraṁ pravartate sā prakṛtiḥ, yat tad dharmāntaraṁ sa vikāra iti | so'yaṁ prakṛtārthaviparyayādaniyamāt kathāṁ prasañjayati | pratijñātaṁ cānena - 'nāsadāvirbhavati, na sat tirobhavati' iti |
90. sadasatośca tirobhāvāvirbhāvāvantaraṇa na kasyacit pravṛttyuparamaḥ, pravṛttirvā-ityevaṁ pratyavasthite yadi sa sata ātmahānamasataścātmalābhamabhyupaiti, apasiddhānto bhavati | atha nābhyupaiti, pakṣo'sya na sidhyatīti |
ito'pina kaścidaniyamāt kathāprasaṅgo yattenopagataṁ nāsadutpadyate na sadvinaśyati' iti tasya samarthanāyedamuktam 'ekaprakṛtikamidaṁ vyaktamanvayadarśanād' iti | tatraikā prakṛtiḥ sukhaduḥkhamohāstadavibhaktayonikam idaṁ vyaktaṁ, tadanvayadarśanāt | vyaktasya tatsvabhāvatā'bhedopalabdheriti |
sukhādīnāmutpattivināśābhyupagamābhāvāt sarvasya tadātmakasya notpatti-vināśāviti siddhaṁ bhavati |
91. atra taduktasya hetordoṣamanudbhāvya vikāraprakṛtilakṣaṇaṁ pṛcchan svayamayaṁ prakṛtāsambandhena aniyamāt kathāṁ pravartayati | tatredaṁ syād vācyaṁ - vyaktaṁ nāma pravṛttinivṛttidharmakaṁ, na tathā sukhādayaḥ, vyaktasya sukhādyanvaye sukhādisvabhāvatā pravṛttinivṛttidharmatālakṣaṇamavahīyata iti | na tadrahitasukhādisvabhāvatā, vyaktalakṣaṇavirodhāditi, sukhādyanvayadarśanādityasiddho heturiti |
evaṁ hi tasya sādhanadoṣodbhāvanena pakṣo dūṣito bhavati | so'nupasaṁhṛtya sādhanadoṣaṁ, kathāṁ pratānayan svadoṣaṁ paratropakṣipati |
ayameva doṣo'nena prakāreṇocyate iti cet |
eṣa naimittikānāṁ viṣayaḥ, na lokaḥ śabdairapratipāditamarthaṁ pratipattuṁ samartha iti, sa evāyaṁ bhaṇḍālekhyanyāyo'trāpi |
yathoktena nyāyena pūrvakasyāsādhanāṅgasyāsiddhasya hetorabhidhānādeva nigrahaḥ, nāpi niyamāt [aniyamāt?] kathāprasaṅgāt iti idamapi hetvābhāseṣvantarbhāvāt na pṛthagvācyam |
92. [22.] "hetvābhāsāścayathoktāḥ |" [nyā.sū. 5.2.25] hetvābhāsāśca nitrahasthānāni | kiṁ punarlakṣaṇāntarayogād hetvābhāsā nigrahasthānatvamāpadyante, yathā pramāṇāni prameyatvam ? ityata āha yathoktahetvābhāsalakṣaṇenaiva nigrahasthānabhāva iti |
atrāpi yathoktatvāccintyemeva - kiṁ te yathā lakṣitaprabhedāstathaiva, āhosvidanyathaiveti ? tattu cintyamānamihātiprasajyate iti na pratanyate | hetvābhāsāśca yathānyāyaṁ nigrahasthānamiti, etāvanmātramiṣṭamiti |
93. loke'vidyātimirapaṭalollekhanastattvadṛṣṭe -
rvādanyāyaḥ parahitarataireṣa sadbhiḥ praṇītaḥ |
tattvālokaṁ timirayati taṁ durvidagdho jano'yaṁ,
tasmādyatnaḥ kṛta iha mayā tatsamujjvālanāya ||
vādanyāyo nāma prakaraṇaṁ samāptam |
