baidhamyaivati dṛṣṭānte sattve hetorihocyate||

ucyate| yadyapyekameva kāryyaṁ bhinnakālakāryyamapekṣyakramastadabhāvāccākrama statkāritvameva kramākramakāritvaṁ| tathāpyapekṣaṇīyaviṣayabhedāt kramākramayorasāṅkaryyameva| pitṛputratvavat| kaḥ punarasau vyāptiprasādhako vyāpakānupalambha iti cet| ucyate| yasya kramākramikāryyaviṣayatvannāsti, na tat śaktaṁ, yathā śaśaviṣāṇaṁ| nāsti ca nityābhimatasya bhāvasya kramākramikāryyaviṣayatvamiti vyāpakānupalambhaḥ| na tāvadayamasidvo vaktavyaḥ| nityasya dharmmiṇaḥ kramākramikāryyaviṣayatvena vyāpakena saha virodhasadbhāvāt, tathā hi pūrvvāparakālayorekatve nityatvaṁ kṣaṇadvayepi bhede kramākramitvaṁ| tataśca nityatvaṁ kramākramitvañcetyabhinnatvaṁ bhinnatvañcetyuktaṁ bhavati| etayośca parasparaparihārasthitilakṣaṇatayā virodhaḥ| tat kathaṁ nitye kramākramasambhavaḥ| nāpi virudvaḥ sapakṣe bhāvāt| nacānaikāntikaḥ| kramākramābhāvasyārthakriyāsāmarthyābhāvena vyāptatvāt| tathā hi na tāvat kramākramābhyāmanyaḥ prakārosti, yenārthakriyāsambhāvanāyāṁ kāramākramābhyāmarthakriyāvyāptirna syāt| tasmādarthakriyāmātrānubadvatayā tayoranyataraprakārasya| ubhayorabhāve cābhāvādarthakriyāmātrasyeti tābhyāṁ tasya vyāptisidviḥ| pakṣīkṛte ca tayorabhāvenārthakriyāśaktyabhāvasidvau kathamanekāntaḥ| na hi byāpyavyāpakayorvyāpyavyāpakabhāvasidvimudvūyabyāpyābhāvena vyāpakābhāvasya vyāptisidvau, upāyāntaramastīti niravadyo vyāpakānupalambhaḥ| sattvasya kṣaṇikatvena vyāptiṁ sādhayatyeva| nanu vyāpakānupalambhataḥ sattvasya kathaṁ svasādhyaprativandhasidviḥ, asyāpyanekadoṣaduṣṭatvāt| tathāhi na tāvadayaṁ prasaṅgo hetuḥ sādhyadharmmiṇi pramāṇasidvatvāt, parābhyupagamasidvatvābhāvāt, viparyyayaparyyavasānābhāvācca| atha svatantraḥ, tadāśrayāsidvaḥ| akṣaṇikasyāśrayasyāsambhavādapratītatvādvā| pratīti rhi pratyakṣeṇānumānena vikalpamātreṇa vā syāt| prathamapakṣadvaye sākṣātpāramparyyeṇa vā svapratītilakṣaṇārthakāritve maulaḥ sādhāraṇo hetuḥ| vyāpakānupalambhaśca svarūpāsidvaḥ syāt| arthakriyākāritve kramākramayoranyatarasyāvaśyambhāvāt| antimapakṣe tu na kaścidveturanāśrayaḥ syāt vikalpamātrasidvasya dharmmiṇaḥ sarvvatra sulabhatvāt| api ca tat kalpanājñānaṁ pratyakṣapṛṣṭhabhāvi vā syāt, liṅgajanma vā, saṁskārajaṁ vā, sandigdhavastukaṁ vā, avastukaṁ vā| tatrādyapakṣadvaye 'kṣaṇikasya sattaivābyāhatā kathaṁ vādhakāvatāraḥ| tṛtīye tu na sarvvadā 'kṣaṇikasattāniṣedhaḥ| tadarpitasaṁskārābhāve tat smaraṇāyogāt| caturthe tu sandigdhāśrayatvaṁ hetudoṣaḥ| pañcame ca tadviṣayasyābhāvo na tāvat pratyakṣataḥ sidhyati| akṣaṇikātmanaḥ sarvvadaiva tvanmate 'pratyakṣatvāt| na cānumānatastadabhāvaḥ pratibadvaliṅgānupalambhādityāśrayāsidvistāvadudvatā| evaṁ dṛṣṭāntopi pratihantavyaḥ||
svarūpāsidvopyayaṁ hetuḥ sthirasyāpi kramākramisahakāryyapekṣayā kramākramābhyāmarthakriyopapatteḥ| nāpi kramayaugapadyapakṣoktadoṣaprasaṅgaḥ| tathāhi kramisahakāryyapekṣayā kramikāryyakāritvantāvadavirudvaṁ|
tathāca śaṅkarasya saṁkṣipto'yamabhiprāyaḥ| sahakārisākalyaṁ hi sāmarthyaṁ| tadvaikalyañcāsāmarthyaṁ| na ca tayorāvirbhāvatirobhāvābhyāntadvataḥ kācit kṣatiḥ, tasya tābhyāmanyatvāt| tatkathaṁ sahakāriṇo'napekṣyakāryyakaraṇaprasaṅga iti|
trilocanasyāpyayaṁ saṁkṣiptārthaḥ| kāryyameva hi sahakāriṇamapekṣate| na kāryyotpattihetuḥ| yasmāddvividhaṁ sāmarthyannijamāgantukañca sahakāryyantaraṁ| tato 'kṣaṇikasyāpi kramavatsahakārinānātvādapi kramavatkāryyanānātvopapatteraśakyaṁ bhāvānāṁ pratikṣaṇamanyānyatvamupapādayitumiti||
nyāyabhūṣaṇo'pi lapati| prathamakāryyotpādanakāle hyuttarakāryyotpādanasvabhāvaḥ| ataḥ prathamakāla evāśe ṣāṇi kāryyāṇi kuryyāditi cet| tadidaṁ mātā me vandhyetyādivat svavacanavirodhādayuktaṁ| yohyuttarakāryyajananasvabhāvaḥ sa kathamādau tatkāryyaṁ kuryyāt| na tarhi tatkāryyakaraṇasvabhāvaḥ| nahi nīlotpādanasvabhāvaḥ pītādikamapi karotīti||
vācaspatirapi paṭhati| nanvayamakṣaṇikaḥ svarūpeṇa kāryyañjanayati| taccāsya svarūpaṁ tṛtīyādiṣviva kṣaṇeṣu dvitīye'pi kṣaṇe saditi tadāpi janayet| akurvvan vā tṛtīyādiṣvapi na kurvvīta| tasya tādavasthyāt| atādavasthye vā tadevāsya kṣaṇikatvaṁ|
atrocyate| satyaṁ svarūpeṇa kāryyañjanayati na tu tenaiva| sahakārisahitādeva tataḥ kāryyotpattidarśanāt| tasmāt vyāptivatkāryyakāraṇabhāvo'pyekatrānyayogavyavacchedenāmyatrāyogavyavacchedenāvabodvavyaḥ| tathaiva lokikaparīkṣakāṇāṁ sampratipatteriti na kramikāryyakāritvapakṣoktadoṣāvasaraḥ||
nāpyakṣaṇike yaugapadyapakṣoktadoṣāvakāśaḥ| ye hi kāryyamutpāditavanto dravyaviśeṣāsteṣāṁ vyāpārasya niyatakāryyotpādanasamarthasya niṣpādite kāryye 'nuvarttamāneṣvapi teṣu dravyeṣu nivṛttārthādūnā sāmagrī jāyate| tatkathaṁ niṣpāditaṁ niṣpādayiṣyati| na hi daṇḍādayaḥ svabhāvenaiva karttāro yenāmī niṣpatterārabhya kāryyaṁ vidadyuḥ| kintarhi vyāpārāveśinaḥ| na ceyatā svarūpeṇa na karttāraḥ svarūpakārakatvanirvvāhaparatayā vyāpārasamāveśāditi||
kiñca kramākramābhāvaśca bhaviṣyati na ca satvābhāva iti sandigdhavyatirekopyayaṁ vyāpakānupalambhaḥ| na hi kramākramābhyāmanyaprakārasyābhāvaḥ sidvaḥ| viśeṣaniṣedhasya śeṣābhyanujñāviṣayatvāt| kiñca prakārāntarasya dṛśyatvenātyantaniṣedhaḥ| adṛśyatve tu nāsattāniścayo viprakarṣiṇāmiti na kramākramābhyāmarthakriyāsāmarthyasya vyāptisidviḥ| ataḥ sandigdhavyatireko 'pi vyāpakānupalambhaḥ| kiñca dṛśyādṛśyasahakāripratyayasākalyavataḥ kramayaugapadyasyātyantaparokṣatvāt tena vyāptaṁ sattvamapi parokṣameveti na tāvatpratibandhaḥ pratyakṣataḥ sidhyati nāpyanumānataḥ, tatpratibadvaliṅgābhāvāditi| api ca kramākramābhyāmarthakriyākāritvaṁ vyāptamityatisubhāṣitaṁ|
yadi krameṇa vyāptaṁ kathamakrameṇa| athākrameṇa na tarhi krameṇa; kramākramābhyāṁ vyāptamiti tu brūvata vyāpterevābhāvaḥ pradarśito bhavati| nahi bhavati| agnirdhūmabhāvābhāvābhyāṁ vyāpta iti| ato vyāpteranaikāntikatvam| api ca kimidaṁ vādhakamakṣaṇikānāmasattāṁ sādha yati, utasvit, akṣaṇikāt sattvasya vyatirekaṁ, atha sattvakṣaṇikatvayoḥ prativandhaṁ| na pūrvvo vikalpaḥ| uktakrameṇa hetorāśrayāsidvatvāt| na ca dvitīyaḥ| yato vyāpakanivṛttisahitā vyāpyanivṛttirvyatirekaśabdasyārthaḥ| sā ca yadi pratyakṣeṇa pratīyate tadā tadvetuḥ syāditi sattvamanaikāntikaṁ| vyāpakānupalambhaḥ svarūpāsidvaḥ| atha sā vikalpyate| tadā pūrvvoktakrameṇa pañcadhā vikalpya vikalpyo dūṣaṇīyaḥ| ata eva na tṛtiyo 'pi vikalpaḥ| vyatirekāsidvau sambandhāsidveḥ| kiñca na bhūtalavadatrākṣaṇiko dharmmī dṛśyate| na ca svabhāvānupalambhe vyāpakānupalambhaḥ kasyacit dṛśyasya pratipattimantareṇāntarbhāvayituṁ śakya iti| kiñcāsyābhāvadharmmatve| āśrayā sidvatvamitaretarāśrayatvañca| bhāvadharmmatve virudvatvañca| ubhayadharmmatve cānaikāntikatvamiti na trayīndoṣajātimatipatati||
yatpunaruktamakṣaṇikatve karmayaugapadyābhyāmarthakriyāvirodhāditi| tatra virodhasidvimanusaratā virodhyapi pratipattabyaḥ| tatpratītināntarīyakatvāt virodhasidveḥ| yathā tuhinadahanayoḥ sāpekṣadhruvabhāvayośca pratiyogī cākṣaṇikaḥ pratīyamānaḥ pratītikāritvāt sanneva syāt ajanakasyāprameyatvāt| saṁvṛttisidvenākṣaṇikatvena virodhasidviriti cet| saṁvṛtisidvamapi vāstavaṁ kālpanikaṁ vā syāt| yadi vāstavaṁ kathantasyāsattvaṁ kathañcārthakriyāvirodhaḥ| arthakriyāṁ kurvvadvi vāstavamucyate|
atha kālpanikaṁ| tatra kiṁ virodho vāstavaḥ kālpaniko vā| na tāvadvāstavaḥ kalpitavirodhivirodhatvāt| bandhyāputravirodhavat| atha virodho'pi kālpanikaḥ| na tarhi sattvasya vyatirekaḥ pāramārthika iti kṣaṇabhaṅgo dattajalāñjaliriti| ayameva codyaprabandho'smad gurubhiḥ saṁgṛhītaḥ||
nityannāsti na vā pratītiviṣayastenāśrayāsiddhatā| hetoḥ svānubhavasya cākṣatirataḥ kṣiptaḥ sapakṣo'pi ca| śūnyaśca dvitīyena sidhyati na cāsattāpi sattā yathā no nityena virodhasidvirasatā śakyā kramāderapīti||
atrocyate| iha vastunyapi dharmmidharmmavyavahāro dṛṣṭoyathā gavi gotvaṁ, paṭe śuklatvaṁ turage gamanamityādi| avastunyapi dharmmidharmmavyavahāro dṛṣṭo yathā śaśaviṣāṇe tīkṣṇatvābhāvo bandhyāputre vakratvābhāvo gagaṇāravinde gandhābhāva ityādi| tatrāvastuni dharmmittvannāstīti kimbastudharmmeṇa dharmmitvannāsti| āhosvidavastudharmmeṇāpi| prathamapakṣe sidvasādhanaṁ dvitīyapakṣe tu svavacanavirodhaḥ| yadāhu rguravaḥ|
dharmmasya kasyacida vastuni mānasidvā
bādhāvidhivyavahṛtiḥ kimihāsti no vā|
kvāpyasti cet kathamiyanti na dūṣaṇāni
nāstyeva cet svavacanapratirodhasidviḥ||
avastuno dharmmitvasvīkārapūrvvakatvasya vyāpakasyābhāve āśrayāsidvidūṣaṇasyānupanyāsaprasaṅgaityarthaḥ| yenaiva hi vacanenāvastuno dharmmitvābhāvena dharmmeṇa dharmmatvamabhyupagataṁ| parastu pratiṣidhyata iti vyaktamdimīśvaraceṣṭitaṁ| tathāhyavastuno dharmmitvannāstīti vacanena dharmmitvābhāvaḥ kimavastu vidhīyate, anyatra vā, na vā kvacidapīti trayaḥ pakṣāḥ|
prathamapakṣe'vastuno na dharmmitvaniṣedhaḥ| dharmmitvābhāvasya dharmmasya tatraiva vidhānāt| dvitīye'vastuni kimāyātaṁ| anyatra dharmmitvābhāvavidhānāt| tṛtīyastu pakṣo vyartha eva nirāśrayatvāt iti kathamavastuno dharmmitvaniṣedhaḥ| tasmādyathā pramāṇopanyāsaḥ prameyasvīkārapūrvvakatvena vyāptaḥ| vācakaśabdopanyāso vā vācyasvīkārapūrvvakatvena vyāptaḥ| tathā'vastuno dharmmitvaṁ nāstīti vacanopanyāso'vastuno dharmmitvasvīkārapūrvvatvena vyāptaḥ| anyathā tadvacanopanyāsasya vyarthatvāt| tadyadi vacanopanyāso vyāpyadharmmaḥ| tadā'vastuno dharmmitvasvīkāropi vyāpakadharmmo durbbāraḥ| atha na vyāpakadharmmaḥ| tadā vyāpyasyāpi vacanopanyāsasyāsambhava iti mūkataivātra balādāyāteti kathaṁ na svavacanavirodhasidviḥ| nahyabrūvan parambodhayitumīśaḥ| bruvan vā doṣamimaṁ pariharttumiti mahati saṅkaṭe praveśaḥ| avastuprastāve sahṛdayāṇāṁ mūkataiva yujyata iti cet| aho mahadvaidagdhyaṁ| avastuprastāve svayameva yathāśakti valgitvā bhagno mūkataiva nyāyaprāpteti paribhāṣayā niḥsarttumicchati| nacāvastuprastāvo rājadaṇḍena vinā caraṇamarddanādināniṣṭimātreṇa vā pratiṣedvuṁ śakyate| tataścātrāpi kramākramābhāvasya sādhanatve sattvābhāvasya ca sādhyatve sandigdhavastubhāvasyāvastyātmano vā kṣaṇikasya dharmmitvaṁ kena pratihanyate| trividho hi dharmmo dṛṣṭaḥ kaścidvastuniyato nīlādiḥ| kaścidavastuniyato yathā sarvvopākhyāvirahaḥ| kaścidubhayasādhāraṇo yathānupalabdhimātraṁ| tatra vastudharmmeṇāvastuno dharmmitvaniṣedha iti yuktaṁ| natvavastudharmmeṇa| vastvavastudharmmeṇa vā| svavacanasyānuyanyāsaprasaṅgādityarkṣāṇakasyābhāve sandehe vā'vastudharmmeṇa dharmmitvamavyāhatamiti nāyamāśrayāsidvo vyāpakānupalambhaḥ||
akṣaṇikāpratītā vayamā śrayāsidvoheturiti tu yuktamuktaṁ| tadapratītau tadvyavahārāyogāt| kevalamasau vyavahārāṅgabhūtā pratīti rvastvavastunorekarūpā na bhavati| sākṣātpāramparyyeṇa vastusāmarthyabhāvinī hi vastupratītiḥ| yathā pratyakṣamanumānaṁ pratyakṣapṛṣṭhabhāvī ca vikalpaḥ| avastunastu sāmarthyābhāvāt vikalpamātrameva pratītiḥ| vastuno hi vastubalabhāvinī pratīti ryathāsākṣātpratyakṣaṁ paramparayā tatpṛṣṭhabhāvī vikalpo'numānañca| avastunastu na vastubalabhāvinī pratītistatkārakatvenāvastutvahāniprasaṅgāt| tasmādvikalpamātramevāvastunaḥ pratītiḥ| nahyabhāvaḥ kaścidvigrahavān yaḥ sākṣātkarttavyo'pi tu vyavaharttavyaḥ| sa ca vyavahāro vikalpādapi sidhyatyeva| anyathā sarbbajanaprasidvo'vastuvyavahāro na syāt| iṣyate ca tadvarmitvapratiṣedhānuvandhādityakārakenāpi vikalpamātrasidvo'kṣaṇikaḥ svīkarttavya iti nāyamapratītatvādapyāśrayāsidvoheturvaktavyaḥ| tataścākṣaṇikasya vikalpamātrasidvatve yaduktaṁ na kaścidveturanāśrayaḥ syadvikalpamātrasidvasya dharmmiṇaḥ sarvvatra sulabhatvāditi tatasaṅgataṁ| vikalpamātrasidvasya dharmmiṇaḥ sarvvatra sambhave'pi vastudharmmeṇa dharmmitvāyogāt| vastudharmmahetutvāpekṣayā āśrayāsidvasyāpi hetoḥ sambhavāt| yathā ātmano vibhutvasādhanārthamupanyastaṁ sarvvatropalabhyamānaguṇatvāditi sādhanaṁ| vikalpaścāyaṁ hetūpanyāsāt| pūrvvaṁ sandigdhavastukaḥ, samarthite tu hetāvavastuka iti brūmaḥ| na cātra sandigdhāśrayatvaṁ nāma hetudoṣaḥ| āstāntāvat| sandigdhasyāvastunopi vikalpamātrasidvasyāvastudharmmāpekṣayā dharmmitvaprasādhanāt| vastudharmmahetutvāpekṣayaiva sandigdhāśrayasya hetvābhāsasya vyavasthāpanāt| yatheha nikuñje mayūraḥ kekāyitāditi| avastukavikalpaviṣayasyāsattvantu vyāpakānupalambhādeva prasādhitaṁ| evaṁ dṛṣṭāntasyāpi vyomāderdvarmmitvaṁ vikalpamātreṇa pratītiścāvagantavyā| tadevamavastudharmmāpekṣayā'vastunodharmmitvasya vikalpamātreṇa pratīteścāpanhotumaśakyatvānnāyamāśrayāsidvo hetuḥ| na dṛṣṭāntakṣatiḥ||
na caiṣa svarūpāsidvaḥ| akṣaṇike dharmmiṇi kramākramayo rvyāpakayorayogāt| tathā hi yadi tasya prathame kṣaṇe dvitīyādikṣaṇabhāvikāryyakāraṇasāmarthyamasti tadā prathamakṣaṇabhāvikāryyavat dvitīyādikṣaṇabhāvyapi kāryyaṁ kuryyāt| samarthasya kṣepāyogāt| atha tadā sahakārisākalyalakṣaṇasāmarthyaṁ nāsti| tadvaikalyalakṣaṇasyāsāmarthyasya sambhavāt| na hi bhāvaḥ svarūpeṇa karotīti svarūpeṇaiva karoti| sahakārisahitādeva tataḥ kāryyotpattidarśanāt iti cet| yadā tāvadamī mīlitāḥ santaḥ kāryyaṁ kurvvate tadaikārthakaraṇalakṣaṇaṁ sahakāritvameṣāmastu ko ni ṣedvā| militaireva tu tatkāryyaṅkarttavyamiti kuto labhyate| pūrvvāparakālayorekasvabhāvatvāt bhāvasya| sarvvadā jananājananayoranyataraniyamaprasaṅgasya durvvāratvāt| tasmāt sāmagrījanikā naikaṁ janakamiti sthiravādināmmanorājyasyāpyaviṣayaḥ|

na ca pratyabhijñānādevaikatvasidviḥ| tat pauruṣasya lūna punarjjātakeśakuśakadalīstambādau nirddalanāt| vistareṇa ca pratyabhijñānadūṣaṇamasmābhiḥ sthirasidvidūṣaṇe pratipāditamiti tata evāvadhāryyaṁ|
nanu kāryyameva sahakāriṇamapekṣate| na tu kāryyotpattihetuḥ| yasmāddvividhaṁ sāmarthyaṁ nijamāgantukañcasahakāryyantaraṁ| tato'kṣaṇikasyāpi kramavat sahakārinānātvādapi kramavatkāryyanānātvamiti cet, bhavatu tāvannijāgantukabhedena dvividhaṁ sāmarthyaṁ tathāpi tatprātisvikaṁ vastusvalakṣaṇaṁ sadyaḥ kriyādharmmakamavaśyābhyupagantavyam| tadyadi prāgapi, prāgapi kāryyaprasaṅgaḥ| atha paścādeva na tadā śthirobhāvaḥ||
na ca kāryyaṁ sahakāriṇo'pekṣata iti yuktaṁ| tasyāsattvāt| hetuśca sannapi yadi svakāryyannakaroti tadā tatkāryyameva tanna syāt, svātantryāt| yaccoktaṁ| yo'hyuttarakāryyajananasvabhāvaḥ sa kathamādau kāryyaṁ kuryyāt| na tarhi tatkāryyakaraṇasvabhāvaḥ| na hi nīlotpādanasvabhāvaḥ pītādikamapi karotīti| tadasaṅgataṁ| sthirasvabhāvatve bhāvasyottarakālamevedaṁ kāryyannapūrvvakālamiti kuta etat| tadabhāvācca kāraṇamapyuttarakāryyakaraṇasvabhāvamityapi kutaḥ| kiṁ kurmma uttarakālameva tasya janmeti cet| sthiratve tadanupapadyamānamasthiratāmādiśatu| śthiratve'pyeṣa eva svabhāvastasya yaduttarakṣaṇa eva kāryyaṁ karotīti cet| na| pramāṇavādhite svabhāvābhyupagamāyogāditi na tāvadakṣaṇikasya kramikāryyakāritvamasti| nāpyakramikāryyakāritvasambhavaḥ| dvitīye'pi kṣaṇe kārakasvarūpasadbhāve punarapi kāryyakaraṇaprasaṅgāt| kāryye niṣpanne tadviṣayavyāpārābhāvādūnā sāmagrī na niṣpāditaṁ niṣpādayediti cet| na| sāmagrīsambhavāsambhavayorapi sadyaḥ kriyākārakasvarūpasambhave janakatvamavāryyamiti prāgeva pratipādanāt| kāryyasya hi niṣpāditatvāt punaḥ karttumaśakyatvameva kāraṇamasamarthamāvedayati| tadayamakṣaṇike kramākramikāryyakāritvābhāvo na sidvaḥ| na ca kramākramābhyāmaparaprakārasambhavo yena tābhyāmavyāptau sandigdhavyatireko hetuḥ syāt| prakārāntaraśaṅkāyāṁ tasyāpi dṛśyādṛśyatvaprakāradvayadūṣaṇe'pi svapakṣepyanāśvāsaprasaṅgāt| tasmādanyo'nyavyavacchedasthitayornāparaḥ prakāraḥ sambhavati| svarūpāpraviṣṭasya vastuno'vastunovā'nyatvāt| prakārā ntarasyāpi kramasvarūpāpraviṣṭatvāt| tathātīndriyasya sahakāriṇo'dṛśyatvepyayogavyavacchedena dṛśyasahakārisahitasya dṛśyasyaiva sattvasya dṛśyakramākramābhyāṁ vyāptiḥ pratyakṣādeva sidhyati| evaṁ kramākramābhyāmarthakriyākāritvaṁ byāptamiti kramākramayoranyo'nyavyavacchedena sthitatvādetatprakāradvayaparihāreṇārthakriyākāritvamanyatra na gatamityarthaḥ| ata evaitayorvinivṛttau nivartteta|
trilocanasyāpi vikalpatraye prathamadūṣaṇamāśrayāsidvidoṣaparihārato nirastaṁ| dvitīyañcāsaṅgataṁ vikalpajñānena vyatirekasya pratītatvāt| nahyabhāvaḥ kaścit vigrahavān yaḥ sākṣātkarttavyo'pi tu vikalpādeva vyavaharttavyaḥ| na hyabhāvasya vikalpādanyāpratipattirapratipattirvā sarvvathobhayathāpi tadvyavahārahāniprasaṅgāt| evaṁ vaidharmmyadṛṣṭāntasya hetuvyatirekasya ca vikalpādeva pratītiḥ| tṛtīyamapi dūṣaṇamasaṅgataṁ| vyāpakānupalambhe nirddoṣatvasya kṣaṇikatvena vyāpteravyāhatatvāt|
tadayaṁ vyāpakānupalambho'kṣaṇikasyāsattvaṁ, sattvasya tato vyatirekaṁ kṣaṇikatvena vyāptiñca sādhayatyekavyāpārātmakatvāt iti sthitaṁ|
nanu vyāpakānupalabdhiriti yadyanupalabdhimātrantadā na tasya sādhyabudvijanakatvamavastutvāt| na cānyopalabdhirvyāpakānupalabdhirabhidhātuṁ śakyā bhūtalādivat anyasya kasyacidanupalabdheriti cet tadasaṅgataṁ| dharmmyupalabdherevānyatrāpyanupalabdhitayā vyavasthāpanāt| yathā neha śiṁśapā vṛkṣābhāvādityatra vṛkṣāpekṣayā kevalapradeśasya dharmmiṇa upalabdhirdṛśyānupalabdhiḥ| śiṁśapāpekṣayā ca kevalapradeśasya dharmmiṇa upalabdhireva śiṁśapābhāvopalabdhiriti svabhāvahetuparyyavasāyivyāpāro vyāpakānupalambhaḥ| tathā hi nityasya dharmmiṇo vikalpabudvyadhyavasi tasya kramikāritvākramikāritvāpekṣayā kevalagrahaṇameva kramikāritvā kramikāritvānupalambha arthakriyāpekṣayā ca| kevalapratītirevārthakriyāviyogapratītiriti vyāpakānupalambhāntarādasya na kaścidviśeṣaḥ|
adhyavasāyāpekṣayā ca vāhye'kṣaṇike'vastuni vyāpakābhāvāt vyāpyābhāvasidvivyavahāraḥ| adhyavasāyaśca samanantarapratyayavalāyātākāraviśeṣayogādagṛhīte'pi pravarttanaśaktirvodvavyaḥ| īdṛśaścādhyavasāyo'rtho'smaccitrādvaitasidvau nirvvāhitaḥ| sa cāvisambādī vyavahāraḥ pariharttumaśakyaḥ; yadvyāpakaśūnyaṁ; tadvāpyaśūnyamiti| etasyaivārthasyānenāpi krameṇa pratipādanāt| ayañca nyāyo yathā vastubhūte dharmmiṇi tathā'vastubhūte'pīti ko viśeṣaḥ| tathāhyekajñānamātravikalpa eva| yathā ca, hariṇaśirasi tenaikajñānasaṁsargiśṛṅgamupalabdhaṁ| śaśaśirasyapi tena sahaikajñānasaṁsargitvasambhāvanayaiva śṛṅgaṁ niṣidhyate| tathā nīlādāvapariniṣṭhitanityānityabhāve kramākramau svadharmmiṇā sārdvaṁ ekajñānasaṁsargiṇau dṛṣṭau nitye'pi yadi bhavataḥ| nityagrāhiṇā jñānena svadharmmiṇā nityena sahaiva gṛhyeyātāmiti sambhāvanayā| ekajñānasaṁsargidvārakameva pratiṣidhyate| kathaṁ punaretannityajñāne kramākramayorasphuraṇamiti| yāvatā kramākramakroḍīkṛtameva nityaṁ vikalpayāma iti cet| ataeva vādhakāvatāro viparītarūpāropamantareṇa tasya vaiyarthyāt| kālāntareṇaikarūpatayā nityatvaṁ| kramākramau ca kṣaṇadvaye bhinnarūpatayā| tato nityatvasya kramākramikāryyaśakteśca parasparaparihārasthitalakṣaṇatayā durvvāro virodha iti kathaṁ nitye kramākramayorantarbhāvaḥ| anantarbhāvācca śuḍvanityavikalpena dūrīkṛtakramākramasamāropeṇa kathamullekhaḥ| tataśca pratiyogini nitye'pi kalpyamāne, ekajñānasaṁsargilakṣaṇaprāpte nityopalabdhireva nityavirudvasyānupalabhyamānasya kramākramasyānupalabdhiḥ| tataeva vārthakriyāśakteranupalabdheḥ| tasmādvyāpakavivekidharmmyupalabdhitayā na vyāpakānupalambhāntarādasya viśeṣaḥ|
nanvetadavastudharmmikopayogikastvadhiṣṭhānatvāt pramāṇavyavasthāyā iti cet| kimidambastvadhiṣṭhānatvannāma| kimparamparayā'pi vastunaḥ sakāśādāgatatvam, atha vastuni kenacidākāreṇa vyavahārakāraṇatvaṁ, vastubhūtadharmmiprativadvatvambā|
yadyādyaḥ pakṣastadā kramākramasyārthakriyāyāśca vyāptigrahaṇagocaravastuprativadvatvamapi na kṣīṇaṁ| na ca dvitīye'pi pakṣe doṣaḥ sambhavati| kṣaṇabhaṅgivastusādhanopāyatvādasya| na cāntimo'pi vikalpaḥ kalpyate| tasyaiva nityavikalpasya vastuno dharmmibhūtasya kramākramavadvāhyanityopādānaśūnyatvenārthakriyāvadvāhyanityopādānaśūnyatvaprasādhanāt| paryyudāsavṛttyā budvisvabhāva bhūtā kṣaṇikākāre vastubhūte dharmmiṇi prativadvatvasambhavāt|
ayameva nyāyo na vaktā bandhyāsutaścaitanyābhāvādityādau yojyaḥ| etena yathā vṛkṣābhāvādityādyantarbhāvayituṁ śakyo na tathāyamiti trilocano'pi nirastaḥ|
na ca kramādyabhāvastrayīṁ doṣajātinnātikrāmati| abhāvadharmmatve'pyāśrayāsidvidoṣaparihārāt| yattvanena pramāṇāntarānnityānāmasattvasidvau kramādivirahasyābhāvadharmmatā na sidhyatītyuktaṁ| tadvālasyāpi durabhidhānaṁ| nityo hi dharmmī| asattvaṁ sādhyaṁ| kramikāryyakāritvākramikāryyakāritvaviraho hetuḥ| asya cābhāvadharmmatvannāma| asattvalakṣaṇasvasādhyāvinābhāvitvamucyate| tacca kramākrameṇa sattvasya vyāptisidvau sattvasya vyāpyasyābhāvena kramākramasya vyāpakasya viraho vyāptaḥ sidhyatītyabhāvadharmmatvaṁ prāgeva vidhyorvyāptisādhakāt pratyakṣādanumānātmakādvā pramāṇāntarāt sidva miti netaretarāśrayatvadoṣaḥ|
na ca sattāyāmivāsattāyāmapi tulyaprasaṅgo bhinna nyāyatvāt| vastubhūtaṁ hi tatra sādhyaṁ sādhanañca| tayodharmmyaipi vastubhūta eva yujyate||
vastunastu pratyakṣānumānābhyāmeva sidviḥ| tayorabhāve niyamenāśrayāsidviriti yuktaṁ| asattāsādhane tvavastudharmmā heturavastuni vikalpamātrasidve dharmmiṇi nāśrayāsidvidoṣeṇa dūṣayituṁ śakyaḥ| tathā'kṣaṇikasya kramayogapadyābhyāmarthakriyāvirodhaḥ sidhyatyeva|
tathā vikalpādevākṣaṇiko virodhī sidvaḥ| vikalpollikhitaścāsya svabhāvo nāpara ityapi vyavaharttavyaṁ| anyathā tadanuvādena kramākramādirahitatvādiniṣedhādikamayuktaṁ| tat svarūpasyānullekhādityakṣaṇikaśaśaviṣāṇādiśabdānuccāraṇaprasaṅgaḥ| asti ca| ato yathā pramāṇābhāve'pi vikalpasatvasya bandhyāsutādeḥsaundaryyādiniṣedho'nurūpaḥ, tathā vikalpopanītasyaivākṣaṇika svarūpasya tat pratyanīkākāreṇa saha virodhavyavasthāyāṁ kīdṛśo doṣaḥ syāt| yadi cākṣaṇikānubhavābhāvāt virodhapratiṣedhaḥ, tarhi bandhyāputrādyananubhavādeva saundaryyādiniṣedho'pi mābhūta|
nanvevaṁ virodhasyāpāramārthikatvaṁ| taddvāreṇa kṣaṇabhaṅgasidvirapyapāramārthikī syāditi cet| na hi virodhonāma vastvantaraṁ kiñcit ubhayakoṭidattapādaṁ sambadvābhidhānamiṣyate'smābhirupapadyate vā| yenaikasambandhino vastutvābhāve'paramārthikaḥ syāt| yathā tviṣyate tathā pāramārthika eva| virudvābhimatayoranyo'nyasvarūpaparihāramātraṁ virodhārthaḥ| tacca bhāvābhāvayoḥ pāramārthikameva na bhāvo'bhāvarūpamāviśati| nāpyabhāvo bhāvarūpaṁ praviśatīti yo'yamanayorasaṅkaraniyamaḥ sa eva pāramārthiko virodhaḥ| kālāntaraikarūpatayā hi nityatvaṁ| kramākramau kṣaṇadvaye'pi bhinnarūpatayā tato nityatvakramākramikāryyakārakatvayorbhāvābhāvavat virodho'styeva| nanu nityatvakramayaugapadyavattvañca virudvau vidhūya nāparo virodhonāma| kasya vāstavatvamiti cet| na| na hi dharmmāntarasya sambhavena virodhasya pāramārthikatvaṁ brūmaḥ| kintu virudvayordharmmayoḥ sadbhāve'nyathā virodhanāmadharmmāntarasambhave'pi yadi na virudvau dharmmau kva pāramārthikavirodhasadbhāvaḥ| virudvau ca dharmmau tāvataiva tāttviko virodhavyavahāraḥ| kimapareṇa pratijñāmātrasidvena virodhanāmnā vastvantareṇa| tadayaṁ pūrvvapakṣasaṁkṣepaḥ|
nityannāsti na vā pratītiviṣayastenāśrayāsidvatā
hetoḥ svānubhavasya ca kṣatirataḥ kṣiptaḥ sapakṣo'pi ca|
śūnyaśca dvitayena sidhyati na vā sattāpi sattāyathā
nonityena virodhasidvirasatā śakyā kramāderapīti||
atra sidvāntasaṁkṣepaḥ|
dharmmasya kasyacivadastuni mānasidvā
bādhāvidhivyavakṛtiḥ kimihāsti no vā|
kāpyasti cet kathamiyanti na dūṣaṇāni|
nāstyeva cet svavacanapratirodhasidviriti||
tadevaṁ nityaṁ na kramikāryyakāritvākramikāryyakāritvayogiparamārthaḥ| tataśca sattāyuktamapi naiva paramārthataḥ| tataśca kṣaṇikākṣaṇikaparihāreṇa rāśyantarābhāvādakṣaṇikādvinivarttamānamidaṁ sattvaṁ kṣaṇikatva eva viśrāmyante na vyāptaṁ sidhyatīti sattvāt kṣaṇabhaṅgasidviṁravirodhinī||
prakṛteḥ sarvvadharmmāṇāṁ yadvodhānmuktiriṣyate|
sa eva tīrthyanirmmāthī kṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ prasādhitaḥ||
vipakṣe vādhanādvetoḥ sādhyātmatvaṁ prasidhyati|
tat sidvau dvividhā vyāptisidviratrābhidhīyate||
