katamo dharmaḥ ? āryāṣṭāṅgiko mārgaḥ | tadyathā-samyagdṛṣṭiḥ samyaksaṁkalpaḥ samyagvāk samyakkarmāntaḥ samyagājīvaḥ samyagvyāyāmaḥ samyaksmṛtiḥ samyaksamādhiḥ | ayamukto bhagavatā āryāṣṭāṅgiko mārgaḥ phalalābhanirvāṇaikasaṁgṛhīto dharmaḥ ||
tatra katamo buddho bhagavān ? yaḥ sarvadharmāvabodhādbuddha ucyate, sa āryaprajñānetraḥ dharmakāyasamanvitaḥ śaikṣāśaikṣadharmānimān paśyati ||
tatra kathaṁ pratītyasamutpādaṁ paśyati ? ihoktaṁ bhagavatā-ya imaṁ pratītyasamutpādaṁ satatasamitam, ajīvaṁ nirjīvaṁ yathāvadaviparītamajātamabhūtamakṛtamasaṁskṛtamapratighamanālambanaṁ śivamabhayamanāhāryamavyayamavyupaśamasvabhāvaṁ paśyati, (sa dharmaṁ paśyati) | yastu evaṁ dharmaṁ satatasamitamajīvaṁ nirjīvaṁ yathāvadaviparītamajātamabhūtamakṛtamasaṁskṛtamapratighamanālambanaṁ śivamanāhāryamavyayamavyupaśamasvabhāvaṁ paśyati, so'nuttaradharmaśarīraṁ buddhaṁ paśyati | āryadharmābhisamaye samyagjñānopanayenaiva ||
pratītyasamutpāda iti kasmāducyate ? sahetukaḥ sapratyayo nāhetuko nāpratyayaḥ, tasmāt pratītyasamutpāda ityucyate | tatra bhagavatā pratītyasamutpādalakṣaṇaṁ saṁkṣepeṇoktamidaṁpratyayatāphalam | utpādādvā tathāgatānāmanutpādādvā sthitaiveṣā dharmāṇāṁ dharmatā yāvadyaiṣā dharmatā dharmasthititā dharmaniyāmatā pratītyasamutpādasamatā tathatā aviparītatathatā ananyatathatā bhūtatā satyatā aviparītatā aviparyayatā iti ||
atha ca punarayaṁ pratītyasamutpādo dvābhyāṁ kāraṇābhyāmutpadyate | katamābhyāṁ dvābhyām ? yadidaṁ hetūpanibandhataḥ pratyayopanibandhataśca | so'pi dvividho draṣṭavyaḥ-bāhyaśca ādhyātmikaśca | tatra bāhyasya pratītyasamutpādasya hetūpanibandhaḥ katamāḥ ? yadidaṁ bījādaṅkuraḥ | aṅkurātpatram | patrātkāṇḍam | kāṇḍānnālam | nālādgaṇḍaḥ | gaṇḍādgarbham | garbhācchūkaḥ | śūkātpuṣpam | puṣpāt phalam | asati bīje aṅkuro na bhavati, yāvadasati puṣpe phalaṁ na bhavati | sati tu bīje aṅkurasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati, evaṁ yāvat sati puṣpe phalasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | tatra bījasya naivaṁ bhavati-ahamaṅkuramabhinirvartayāmīti | aṅkurasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījenābhinirvartita iti | evaṁ yāvat puṣpasya naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ phalamabhinirvartayāmīti | phalasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ puṣpeṇābhinirvartitamiti | atha punaḥ bīje sati aṅkurasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati prādurbhāvaḥ | evaṁ yāvat puṣpe sati phalasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati prādurbhāvaḥ | evaṁ bāhyasya pratītyasamutpādasya hetūpanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ||
kathaṁ bāhyasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ? ṣaṇṇāṁ dhātūnā samudāyāt | katameṣāṁ ṣaṇṇāṁ samavāyāt ? yadidaṁ pṛthivyaptejovāyvākāśaṛtudhātusamavāyādbāhyasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ | tatra pṛthivīdhāturbījasya saṁdhāraṇakṛtyaṁ karoti | abdhāturbījaṁ snehayati | tejodhāturbījaṁ paripācayati | vāyudhāturbījamabhinirharati | ākāśadhāturbījasyānāvaraṇakṛtyaṁ karotīti | ṛturapi bījasya pariṇāmanākṛtyaṁ karoti | asatsu eṣu pratyayeṣu bījādaṅkurasyābhinirvṛttirna bhavati | yadā bāhyaśca pṛthivīdhāturavikalo bhavati, evamaptejovāyvākāśaṛtudhātavaścāvikalā bhavanti, tataḥ savaṣāṁ samavāyādbīje nirudhyamāne aṅkurasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | tatra pṛthivīdhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījasya saṁdhāraṇakṛtyaṁ karomīti | evamabdhātorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījaṁ snehayāmīti | tejodhātorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījaṁ paripācayāmīti | vāyudhātorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījamabhinirharāmīti | ākāśadhātorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījasyānāvaraṇakṛtyaṁ karomīti | ṛtorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījasya pariṇāmanākṛtyaṁ karomīti | bījasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ bījaṁ (aṅkuraṁ?) abhinirvartayāmīti | aṅkurasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahamebhiḥ pratyayairabhinirvartita iti | atha punaḥ satsu eteṣu pratyayeṣu bīje nirudhyamāne aṅkurasyābhinirvṛttiebhavati | evaṁ yāvat puṣpe sati phalasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | sa ca aṅkuro na svayaṁkṛto na parakṛto nobhayakṛto neśvarakṛto na kālapariṇāmito na prakṛtisaṁbhūto ( na caikakāraṇādhīno) nāpyahetusamutpannaḥ | atha punaḥ pṛthivyaptejovāyvākāśaṛtudhātusamavāyād bīje nirudhyamāne aṅkurasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | evaṁ bāhyasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ||
tatra bāhyaḥ pratītyasamutpādaḥ pañcabhirākārairdraṣṭavyaḥ | katamaiḥ pañcabhiḥ ? na śāśvatataḥ, nocchedataḥ, na saṁkrāntitaḥ, parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttitaḥ, tatsadṛśānuprabandhataśca | kathaṁ na śāśvatata iti ? yasmādanyo'ṅkuraḥ anyadbījam | na ca ya evāṅkuraḥ tadeva bījam | na ca niruddhādbījādaṅkura utpadyate nāpyaniruddhāt | bījaṁ punarnirudhyate, tadaivāṅkuraścotpadyate | tasmānna śāśvatataḥ | kathaṁ nocchedataḥ ? na ca pūrvaniruddhād bījādaṅkuro niṣpadyate | nāpyaniruddhāt | api ca bījaṁ ca nirudhyate, tasminneva samaye aṅkura utpadyate tulādaṇḍonnāmāvanāmavat | ato nocchedataḥ || kathaṁ na saṁkrāntitaḥ ? visadṛśo bījādaṅkura iti | ato na saṁkrāntitaḥ || kathaṁ parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttitaḥ ? parīttaṁ bījamupyate, vipulaphalamabhinirvartayatīti | ataḥ parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttitaḥ || kathaṁ tatsadṛśānuprabandhataḥ ? yādṛśaṁ bījamupyate, tādṛśaṁ phalamabhinirvartayatīti | atastatsadṛśānuprabandhataśceti || evaṁ bāhyaḥ pratītyasamutpādaḥ pañcabhirākārairdraṣṭavyaḥ ||
evamādhyātmiko'pi pratītyasamutpādo dvābhyāṁ kāraṇābhyāmutpadyate | katamābhyāṁ dvābhyām ? yadidaṁ hetūpanibandhataḥ pratyayopanibandhataśca | tatrādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya hetūpanibandhaḥ katamaḥ ? yadidamavidyāpratyayāḥ saṁskārāḥ, yāvajjātipratyayaṁ jarāmaraṇamiti | avidyā cennābhaviṣyat, naiva saṁskārāḥ prajñāsyante | evaṁ yāvajjātiścennābhaviṣyat, jarāmaraṇaṁ na prajñāsyate | atha satyāmavidyāyāṁ saṁskārāṇāmabhinirvṛttirbhavati | evaṁ yāvajjātyāṁ sattyāṁ jarāmaraṇasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | tatra avidyāyā naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ saṁskārānabhinirvartayāmīti | saṁskārāṇāmapi naivaṁ bhavati-vayamavidyayā abhinirvatitā iti | evaṁ yāvajjāterapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ jarāmaraṇamabhinirvartayāmīti | jarāmaraṇasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ jātyābhinirvartitamiti | atha ca satyāmavidyāyāṁ saṁskārāṇāmabhinirvṛttirbhavati prādurbhāvaḥ | evaṁ yāvajjātyāṁ satyāṁ jarāmaraṇasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati prādurbhāvaḥ | evamādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya hetūpanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ||
kathamādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ? ṣaṇṇāṁ dhātūnāṁ samavāyāt | katameṣāṁ ṣaṇṇāṁ dhātūnāṁ samavāyāt ? yadidaṁ pṛthivyaptejovāyvākāśavijñānadhātūnāṁ samavāyādādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ | tatra ādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya pṛthivīdhātuḥ katamaḥ ? yo'yaṁ kāyasya saṁśleṣataḥ kaṭhinabhāvamabhinirvartayati, ayamucyate pṛthivīdhātuḥ | yaḥ kāyasya anuparigrahakṛtyaṁ karoti, ayamucyate'bdhātuḥ | yaṁ kāyasya aśitapītabhakṣitaṁ paripācayati, ayamucyate tejodhātuḥ | yaṁ kāyasya āśvāsapraśvāsakṛtyaṁ karoti, ayamucyate vāyudhātuḥ | yaṁ kāyasyāntaḥśauṣiryamabhinirvartayati, ayamucyate ākāśadhātuḥ | ya kāyasya nāmarūpāṅkuramabhinirvartayati, naḍakalāpayogena, pañcavijñānakāyasaṁyuktaṁ sāsravaṁ ca manovijñānam, ayamucyate vijñānadhātuḥ | tatra asatāmeṣāṁ pratyayānāṁ kāyasyotpattirnaṁ bhavati | yadā ādhyātmikaḥ pṛthivīdhāturavikalo bhavati, evamaptejovāyvākāśavijñānadhātavaśca avikalā bhavanti, tataḥ sarveṣāṁ samavāyāt kāyasyābhinirvṛttirbhavati | tatra pṛthivīdhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasya saṁśleṣataḥ kaṭhinabhāvamabhinirvartayāmīti | abdhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasya anuparigrahakṛtyaṁ karomīti | tejodhātorapi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasya aśitapītabhakṣitaṁ paripācayāmīti | vāyudhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasya āśvāsapraśvāsakṛtyaṁ karomīti | ākāśadhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasyāntaḥśauṣiryamabhinirvartayāmīti | vijñānadhātornaivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ kāyasya nāmarūpamabhinirvartayāmīti | kāyasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahamebhiḥ pratyayairjanita iti | atha ca satsu eṣu pratyayeṣu kāyasyotpattirbhavati ||
tatra pṛthivīdhāturnātmā na sattvo na jīvo na jantuḥ na manajo na mānavo na strī na pumān na napuṁsakaṁ na cāhaṁ na mama na cānyasya kasyacit | evamabdhātustejodhāturvāyudhāturākāśadhāturvijñānadhātuḥ nātmā na sattvo na jīvo na jantuḥ na manujo na mānavo na strī na pumān na napuṁsakaṁ na cāhaṁ na mama na cānyasya kasyacit ||
tatra avidyā katamā ? yā eṣāmeva ṣaṇṇāṁ dhātūnāmekasaṁjñā piṇḍasaṁjñā nityasaṁjñā dhruvasaṁjñā śāśvatasaṁjñā sukhasaṁjñā ātmasaṁjñā sattvajīvajantupoṣapuruṣapudgalasaṁjñā manujamānavasaṁjñā ahaṁkāramamakārasaṁjñā, evamādi vividhamajñānam | iyamucyate avidyeti | evamavidyāyāṁ satyāṁ viṣayeṣu rāgadveṣamohāḥ pravartante | tatra ye rāgadveṣamohā viṣayeṣu, amī (avidyāpratyayāḥ) saṁskārā ityucyante | vastuprativijñaptirvijñānam | vijñānasahabhuvaścatvāraḥ skandhā arūpiṇaḥ upādānākhyāḥ tannāma | rūpaṁ catvāri mahābhūtāni tāni copādāya rūpam | tacca nāma tacca rūpamaikadhyamabhisaṁkṣipya tannāmarūpam | nāmarūpasaṁniśritāni indriyāṇi ṣaḍāyatanam | trayāṇāṁ dharmāṇāṁ saṁnipātaḥ sparśaḥ | sparśānubhavo vedanā | vedanādhyavasānaṁ tṛṣṇā | tṛṣṇāvaipulyamupādānam | upādānanirjātaṁ punarbhavajanakaṁ karma bhavaḥ | bhavahetukaḥ skandhaprādurbhāvo jātiḥ | jātasya skandhaparipāko jarā | jīrṇasya skandhasya vināśo maraṇam | mriyamāṇasya saṁmūḍhasya sābhiṣvaṅgasya antaḥparidāhaḥ śokaḥ | śokotthamālapanaṁ paridevaḥ | pañcavijñānakāyasaṁyuktamasātamanubhavanaṁ duḥkham | manasikārasaṁyuktaṁ mānasaṁ duḥkhaṁ daurmanasyam | ye cāpi anye evamādayaḥ kleśāḥ, te upāyāsā iti ||
tatra mahāndhakārārthena avidyā | abhisaṁskārārthena saṁskārāḥ | vijñāpanārthena vijñānam | anyonyopastambhanārthena nāmarūpam | āyadvārārthena ṣaḍāyatanam | sparśanārthena sparśaḥ | anubhavanārthena vedanā | paritarṣaṇārthena tṛṣṇā | upādānarthena upādānam | punarbhavajananārthena bhavaḥ | skandhaprādurbhāvārthena jātiḥ | skandhaparipākārthena jarā | vināśārthena maraṇam | śocanārthena śokaḥ | vacanaparidevanārthena paridevaḥ | kāyasaṁpīḍanārthena duḥkham | cittasaṁpīḍanārthena daurmanasyam | upakleśārthena upāyāsāḥ ||
punaraparam-tattve'pratipattirmithyāpratipattirajñānamavidyā | evamavidyāyāṁ satyāṁ trividhāḥ saṁskārā abhinirvartante-puṇyopagā apuṇyopagā āneñjyopagāḥ | tatra puṇyopagānāṁ saṁskārāṇāṁ puṇyopagameva vijñānaṁ bhavati | apuṇyopagānāṁ saṁskārāṇāmapuṇyopagameva vijñānaṁ bhavati | āneñjyopagānāṁ saṁskārāṇāmāneñjyopagameva vijñānaṁ bhavati | idamucyate saṁskārapratyayaṁ vijñānamiti | vijñānasahabhuvaścatvāro'rūpiṇaḥ skandhā nāmarūpam | tadvijñānapratyayaṁ nāmarūpamucyate | nāmarūpavivṛddhyā ṣaḍbhirāyatanadvāraiḥ kṛtyakriyāḥ pravartante | tannāmarūpapratyayaṁ ṣaḍāyatanamityucyate | ṣaḍbhyaścāyatanebhyaḥ ṣaṭ sparśakāyāḥ pravartante | ayaṁ ṣaḍāyatanapratyayaḥ sparśa ityucyate | yajjātīyaḥ sparśo bhavati, tajjātīyā vedanā pravartate | iyamucyate sparśapratyayā vedaneti | yastāṁ vedanāṁ viśeṣeṇāsvādayati abhinandati adhyavasyati adhyavasāya tiṣṭhati, sā vedanāpratyayā tṛṣṇetyucyate | āsvādanābhinandanādhyavasānādhyavasāyasthānādātmapriyarūpasātarūpairviyogo mā bhūditi nityamaparityāgāya yaivaṁ prārthanā, idamucyate tṛṣṇāpratyayamupādānam | evaṁ prārthayamānaḥ punarbhavajanakaṁ karma samutthāpayati kāyena vācā manasā ca, sa upādānapratyayo bhava ityucyate | tatkarmanirjātānāṁ pañcaskandhānāmabhinirvṛttiryā, sā bhavapratyayā jātirityucyate | jātyābhinirvṛttānāṁ skandhānāmupacayanaparipākādvināśo bhavati, tadidaṁ jātipratyayaṁ jarāmaraṇamityucyate ||
evamayaṁ dvādaśāṅgaḥ pratītyasamutpādaḥ anyonyahetukaḥ anyonyapratyayaḥ | na nityo nānityo na saṁskṛto nāsaṁskṛto nāhetuko nāpratyayo na vedayitā na kṣayadharmo na vināśadharmo na nirodhadharmo'nādikālapravṛtto'nucchinno'pravartate nadīsrotavat ||
yadyayaṁ dvādaśāṅgaḥ pratītyasamutpādo'nyonyahetuko'nyonyapratyayaḥ, na nityo nānityo na saṁskṛto nāsaṁskṛto nāhetuko nāpratyayo na vedayitā na kṣayadharmo na vināśadharmo na nirodhadharmo'nādikālapravṛtto'nucchinno'nupravartate nadīsrotavat, atha ca imānyasya dvādaśāṅgasya pratītyasamutpādasya catvāri aṅgāni saṁghātakriyāyai hetutvena pravartante | katamāni catvāri ? yaduta avidyā tṛṣṇā karma vijñānaṁ ca | tatra vijñānaṁ bījasvabhāvatvena hetuḥ | karma kṣetrasvabhāvena hetuḥ | avidyā tṛṣṇā ca kleśasvabhāvatvena hetuḥ | tatra karmakleśā vijñānabījaṁ janayanti | tatra karma vijñānabījasya kṣetrakāryaṁ karoti | tṛṣṇā vijñānabījaṁ snehayati | avidyā vijñānabījamavakirati | asatāmeṣāṁ pratyayānāṁ vijñānabījasyābhinirvṛttirna bhavati | tatra karmaṇo naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ vijñānabījasya kṣetrakāryaṁ karomīti | tṛṣṇāyā api naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ vijñānabījaṁ snehayāmīti | avidyāyā api naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ vijñānabījamavakirāmīti | vijñānabījasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahamebhiḥ pratyayairjanitamiti | atha ca vijñānabījaṁ karmakṣetrapratiṣṭhitaṁ tṛṣṇāsnehābhiṣyanditamavidyayā svavakīrṇaṁ virohati | tatratatra upapattyāyatanapratisaṁdhau mātuḥkukṣau nāmarūpāṅkuramabhinirvartayati | sa ca nāmarūpāṅkuro na svayaṁkṛto na parakṛto nobhayakṛto neśvarakṛto na kālapariṇāmito na prakṛtisaṁbhūto na caikakāraṇādhīno nāpyahetusamutpannaḥ | atha ca mātāpitṛsaṁyogadṛtusamavāyādanyeṣāṁ ca pratyayānāṁ samavāyāt tatra tatra āsvādaviddhaṁ vijñānabījamupapattyāyatanapratisaṁghau mātuḥ kukṣau nāmarūpāṅkuramabhinirvartayati, asvāmikeṣu dharmeṣu amameṣu aparigraheṣu ākāśasameṣu māyālakṣaṇasvabhāveṣu hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | tadyathā-pañcabhiḥ kāraṇaiḥ cakṣurvijñānamutpadyate | katamaiḥ pañcabhiḥ ? yaduta cakṣuḥ pratītya rūpaṁ ca ālokaṁ ca ākāśaṁ ca tajjamanasikāraṁ ca pratītya utpadyate cakṣurvijñānam | tatra cakṣurvijñānasya cakṣurāśrayakṛtyaṁ karoti | rūpaṁ cakṣurvijñānasya ālambanakṛtyaṁ karoti | ālokaḥ avabhāsakṛtyaṁ karoti | ākāśamanāvaraṇakṛtyaṁ karoti | tajjamanasikāraḥ samanvāhārakṛtyaṁ karoti | asatāmeṣāṁ pratyayānāṁ cakṣurvijñānaṁ notpadyate | yadā tu cakṣurādhyātmikamāyatanamavikalaṁ bhavati, evaṁ rūpālokākāśatajjamanasikārāśca avikalā bhavanti, tataḥ sarveṣāṁ samavāyāccakṣurvijñānamutpadyate | tatra cakṣuṣo naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ cakṣurvijñānasyāśrayakṛtyaṁ karomīti | rūpasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ cakṣurvijñānasya ālambanakṛtyaṁ karomīti | ālokasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ cakṣurvijñānasya avabhāsakṛtyaṁ karomīti | ākāśasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ cakṣurvijñānasya anāvaraṇakṛtyaṁ karomīti | tajjamanasikārasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahaṁ cakṣurvijñānasya samanvāhārakṛtyaṁ karomīti | cakṣurvijñānasyāpi naivaṁ bhavati-ahamebhiḥ pratyayairjanitamiti | atha ca punaḥ satsu eṣu pratyayeṣu cakṣurvijñānasyotpattirbhavati | evaṁ śeṣāṇāmindriyāṇāṁ yathāyogaṁ yojyam ||
tatra na kaściddharmo'smāllokāt paralokaṁ saṁkrāmati | asti ca karmaphalaprativijñaptiḥ, hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | tadyathā supariśuddhe ādarśamaṇḍale mukhapratibimbakaṁ dṛśyate | na ca tatra ādarśamaṇḍale mukhaṁ saṁkrāmati | asti ca mukhaprativijñaptiḥ, hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | evamasmāllokāt na kaścit cyutaḥ, nāpyanyatropapannaḥ | asti ca karmaphalaprativijñaptiḥ, hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | tadyathā candramaṇḍalaṁ catvāriṁśadyojanaśatamūrdhvaṁ vrajati | atha ca punaḥ parītte'bhyudakabhājane candrasya pratibimbaṁ dṛśyate | na ca candramaṇḍalaṁ tasmātsthānāccyutam, parītte udakasya bhājane saṁkrāntaṁ bhavati| asti ca candramaṇḍalaprativijñaptiḥ, hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | evamasmāllokānna kaścit cyutaḥ, nāpyanyatropapannaḥ | asti ca karmaphalaprativijñaptiḥ, hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt ||
tadyathā agnirupādānapratyaye sati jvalati, upādānavaikalyānna jvalati, evameva karmakleśajanitaṁ vijñānabījaṁ tatra tatra upapattyāyatanapratisaṁghau mātuḥ kukṣau nāmarūpāṅkuramabhinirvartayati, asvāmikeṣu dharmeṣu amameṣu aparigraheṣu ākāśasameṣu māyālakṣaṇasvabhāveṣu hetupratyayānāmavaikalyāt | evaṁ ādhyātmikasya pratītyasamutpādasya pratyayopanibandho draṣṭavyaḥ ||
tatra ādhyātmikaḥ pratītyasamutpādaḥ pañcabhirākārairdraṣṭavyaḥ | katamaiḥ pañcabhiḥ ? na śāśvatataḥ, nocchedataḥ, na saṁkrāntitaḥ, parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttataḥ, tatsadṛśānuprabandhataśceti | kathaṁ na śāśvatataḥ ? yasmādanye māraṇāntikāḥ skandhāḥ, anye aupapattyaṁśikāḥ skandhāḥ, na tu ya evaṁ māraṇāntikāḥ skandhāḥ, ta eva aupapattyaṁśikāḥ | api tu māraṇāntikāḥ skandhā nirudhyante, tasminneva ca samaye aupapattyaṁśikāḥ skandhāḥ prādurbhavanti | ato na śāśvatataḥ || kathaṁ nocchedataḥ? na ca pūrvaniruddheṣu māraṇāntikeṣu skandheṣu aupapattyaṁśikāḥ skandhāḥ prādurbhavanti, nāpyaniruddheṣu | api tu māraṇāntikāḥ skandhā nirudhyante, tasminneva ca samaye aupapattyaṁśikāḥ skandhāḥ prādurbhavanti tulādaṇḍonnāmāvanāmavat | ato nocchedataḥ || kathaṁ na saṁkrāntitaḥ ? visadṛśāḥ sattvanikāyāḥ sabhāgāyāṁ jātyāṁ jātimabhinirvartayanti | ato na saṁkrāntitaḥ | kathaṁ parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttitaḥ ? parīttaṁ karma kriyate, vipulaḥ phalavipāko'nubhūyate | ataḥ parīttahetuto vipulaphalābhinirvṛttitaḥ || kathaṁ tatsadṛśānuprabandhataḥ ? yathāvedanīyaṁ karma kriyate, tathāvedanīyo vipāko'nubhūyate | atastatsadṛśānuprabandhataśca || evamādhyātmikaḥ pratītyasamutpādaḥ pañcabhirākārairdraṣṭavyaḥ ||
yaḥ kaścid bhadanta śāriputra imaṁ pratītyasamutpādaṁ bhagavatā samyakpraṇītamevaṁ yathābhūtaṁ samyakprajñayā satatasamitamajīvaṁ nirjīvaṁ yathāvadaviparītamajātamabhūtamakṛtamasaṁskṛtamapratighamanālambaṁ śivamabhayamanāhāryamavyayamavyupaśamasvabhāvaṁ paśyati, asataḥ tucchataḥ riktataḥ asārataḥ rogataḥ gaṇḍataḥ śalyataḥ aghataḥ anityataḥ duḥkhataḥ śūnyataḥ anātmataḥ samanupaśyati, na sa pūrvāntaṁ pratisarati-kiṁ nvahamabhūvamatīte'dhvani, kathaṁ nvahamabhūvamatīte'dhvani iti | aparāntaṁ vā na punaḥ pratisarati-kiṁ nvahaṁ bhaviṣyāmyanāgate'dhvani, āhosvinna bhaviṣyāmyanāgate'dhvani, ko nu bhaviṣyāmyanāgate'dhvani, kathaṁ nu bhaviṣyāmyanāgate'dhvani iti | pratyutpannaṁ vā punarnaṁ pratisarati-kiṁ nvidam, kathaṁ nvidam, ke santaḥ ke bhaviṣyāmaḥ, ime sattvāḥ kuta āgatāḥ, itaścyutāḥ kutra gamiṣyantīti | yāni ekeṣāṁ śramaṇabrāhmaṇānāṁ pṛthag loke dṛṣṭigatāni bhaviṣyanti, tadyathā-ātmavādapratisaṁyuktāni sattvavādapratisaṁyuktāni jīvavādapratisaṁyuktāni pudgalavādapratisaṁyuktāni kautukamaṅgalavādapratisaṁyuktāni unmiñjitāni nimiñjitāni ca, tānyasya tasmin samaye prahīṇāni bhavanti parijñātāni samucchinnamūlāni tālamastakavadanābhāsagatāni āyatyāmanutpādānirodhadharmāṇi ||
yo bhadanta śāriputra evaṁvidhadharmakṣāntisamanvitaḥ pratītyasamutpādaṁ samyagavagacchati, tasya tathāgato'rhan samyaksaṁbuddho vidyācaraṇasaṁpannaḥ sugato lokavit puruṣadamyasārathiranattaraḥ śāstā devamanuṣyāṇāṁ buddho bhagavān samyaksaṁbodhiṁ vyākaroti-samyaksaṁbuddho buddho bhaviṣyasīti | maitreyeṇa bodhisattvena mahāsattvena evamuktam ||
atha khalvāyuṣmān śāriputro maitreyasya bodhisattvasya mahāsattvasya bhāṣitamabhinandya anupramodya utthāyāsanāt prakrāntaḥ | prakrāntāste ca bhikṣavaḥ ||
