vijñāyante svavacanasaraṇiṁ ramaṇīyatamā guṇigaṇāvaśiṣṭām
udayanavacanāt svavacana-[caraṇa] hatisaraṇiṁ bhaṇiṣyāmi|
iha khalu viśālaśailamekhalāsthūlasthāṇusthānīye (2) parasya (jñāna prasūtapṛṣṭha) śrīmat jñānaśrīmitrapādīyamuktasāmarthyāsāmarthyātprasphuṭita upaśaṅkātaḥ sāmarthyāsāmarthyaviruddhadharmasaṁsargeṇa bhedasiddhau tatsiddhiriti sattvādiṣupareṇaśleṣitaṁ kliśyate|
avikalena hi sakaladūṣyakeṇa (3) hi pālanā pratyakṣataḥ pṛthvīpavanapāśraḥ pratyarthivījāni parasparopasarpaṇasampūrṇapratyayapratyarjitasannidhānāni tadudbhūtasvādhīnavarddhiṣṇutādiguṇaramaṇīyapariṇatyā pravardhante (4) prarohaṁ pratipratyayabhāvajānya [bhāvajāni]prabhāvyante| yathoktaviśeṣaṇapratyayatvameṣāṁ pratyātmapratiṣṭhādhiṣṭhitasauṣṭhavapṛṣṭapratyakṣānupalambhasambhavānvayavyatirekapa (5) rikalpanā tasyā upalālitasakalitasahakārisākalyaviśeṣaṇasārupyamavasthāpanīyamaparathā pratyayāntarapratyāsattisāpekṣatve bījasyeva kramayau (6) gapadyaviśeṣasauṣṭhavasphuṭitamupādhāvagrimakṣaṇasyāpi sahakārisākalyāsākalyāvasthayoḥ sthitāsthitatayā prarohaṁ prati pratyetuṁ pāryeta| tathā ca kuśūlakukṣikuṇḍalitakṣaṇā (7) dhikatcāt sahakārikṣaṇakrameṇa kedārākrāntakalevaraṁ kadambakamekamanekambeti vistarata vicāracakramapakramante| kiṁ cet na tayo ka (8) thitamidamuttānīkrameṇa sahakārisahacaritapratyayapratyāsattibhrāntasvabhāvāntaramintyupakṣipya pakṣapratipakṣapa- rijighṛkṣākṣāntahṛdayā sādhakamidamiti jñāpakavirodhe vyāharanti|
jighṛkṣāsāmarthyasamarthanādau sākṣādvayavahatuṁ tattadā tatkarotyādi tatkarotyeva vā yathā (2) ca yasya nehaḥ sandohaniḥ sandehapariṇatau praṇatidehotkṛṣṭaḥ yathāprakāśitasādhanātattvaprasādhanaśca kevalopi kṣaṇatvapadārthaḥ na ca kevalastathābhū(3) topi karotyapīti karotyeveti vā pratyākalitaḥ sa eṣa prasaṅgaprasaṅgato viparyayaḥ pūrvāparakālamilitakaraṇākaraṇayorādhārabhedañca saṁdīpayati| tathāhi (4) paryavasāne janakatvamabhimatakārye paryālocitaṁ pramāṇena pratyekamavasthitam|
anvayavyatirekābhyāṁ dharādhāmādisākalyaṁ ślathayitvā viśeṣaṇaṁ parāparabhāvabhaṅgayā svaviśeṣavyāptamālocyanimatyantāyogavyavacchedāyogavyavacchedacchadicchannamunnīyate -
nirviśeṣaṁ hi sāmānyaṁ bhave (6) cchaśaviṣāṇavat|
nirviśeṣaṇaṁ kartṛtvaṁ bhavedvandhyāsutāsamam||
tasmādasmatpratibhāvarṇabhāvasthāpratibhāsaprabhāvāt bhāvānāṁ kintatraiva tathā (7) bhadantaiḥ paramaparāparasadṛśatā ca svabhāvāntarānubhavitaikapratisantānaṁ bandhyatvamakartṛtvaṁ keśakuntalakamalakāṇḍāt svaravatsaṁvedanīyam| tat(8) tapanādisahacarabhedasampāditatattadādibhedo darśyatāṁ pūrvāparāvasthā pāramārthikā bhedajñā pratyabhijñā paramaviśvāsasarvasvaṁ bibhrati bhramimūrṣaṇīyeti| pakṣa dva-(9) yānugrahanigrahe hetuḥ hetubhāva eva bhāvanāṁ saṁdūṣyate bhavyena| tathāhi, tatkartṛtvaṁ pareṣu madhyasthamiva vādiprativādisammatabilambakāritvāt sapakṣāditvaviśeṣasiddhiviśleṣe'pi suśleṣakauśalabalābalambīvānumatamubhayabhūmibhāginorapi bhāvato bhūtoktipravṛttayostathābhūtañca bhāvyamānaṁ kartṛtvarūpaṁ kiṁ tattvato'tyantāyogavyavacchinnanirvartmathābhūtañca bhāvyamānaṁ kartṛtvarūpaṁ kiṁ tattvato'tyantāyogavyavacchinnanirvartmakartṛtvarūpamucchavibhramabhūmi - bhūtānubhavavyavasthānamanavasthitamapi anumanyate mānyena anyena vā prakāreṇa yadutāyogavyavacchinnakartṛ -(3) -tvarūpamutkīrtayitavyam, vyapetānubhavādivyavasthamapi svasthayaḥ sthaviravādivṛndavṛndārakānantarakathitapakṣayoranyatarāṅgokārakārāgāragraheṇa| arthagṛ(4)hītau-paryāyato dvāvapi dvāparadvārālaṅkṛtau kathaya ko'tra nistrāṇamāpadyate avadyaprabheda iti ceducyate| ayameva prasaṅgaḥ yaduta yadyadā (5) yatsamarthavyavasthānasthānaṁ tattadā tatkarotyapi yathā sāmagryavasthāyāṁ vikalakālakalāyāmapi pūrvādikāyāmakathitasāmarthyavyavasthānaṁ sthānañca (6) kāñcanakāryamaryādāmādāya darśito bhāvabhedaḥ ityantāyogavyavacchedakartṛtvapakṣe lakṣayitavyaḥ prasaṅgaḥ| na ca kadācidapi vedyate niḥsahacarasa (7) hakāricakraḥ prakramamāṇaḥ kartu matyantāyogavyavacchedena abhimato bhāvaḥ svakāryamityāvarjanīyo viparyayaścātra| tathāpi syāt anekāntaśāntāvanamutthitāyāmabhitticitrakarmmapratimamidamābhāti| tathāhi sāmarthyavyavahārayogyatvepi prasaṅgasādhane kīddaśarktṛtvapravartitaśaktavyavasthānamākṣepamakṣe-(p. 5)-pakāritvavasya prasādhakapramāṇaprasthāpanārthatvāt| sahakārisākalye satyeva karotīti vilambakāritvalakṣaṇaśca kevalāvasthāyāṁ prasajjayitumaśakyatvāt| sahakā-(2) risākalye sati karotyevetyevaṁ svabhāvakartutvakīrtane'kīrtiḥ karitalabilambitaiva sthiviravādānukulatvātkukṣitvādasya pakṣasya hantanitāntanirmalaiḥ subhāṣitabhānubhiranunnameva pareṣāṁ mohatamaḥ| yadevaṁ sākalyaṁ sahakārikalpaṁ bījakartṛtvaviśeṣaṇaṁ prakṣipya parapakṣaḥ kṣubhyate'kṣepakāritvamapi tadviśe(4) ṣarūpaṁ pramāṇaprasiddhaṁ anurudhya bādhyate sādhuḥ yasmādakṣepakāritvānapekṣakāritvaṁ kartṛtvasāmānyasyāntyāvasthāyāṁ pratyakṣānupalambhasambhāvita (5) sya vyaktiprabhedatayā vyāpakaṁ sambhāvya prakārāntarāpratīteranakṣepakartṛtvarūpaṁ kartṛtvasāmānyasya pariṇāmamanumanyase prasaṅgasaṅgatau (6) nāṅgatā saṅgacchate doṣasya| tathāhi hetusāhitye'pi bījasya kartṛtvaṁ dṛśyamānaṁ na sāhityena viśeṣaṇīyaṁ śilāśakalāderapi tathātvaprāpteḥ apitu kevalyai (7) va bījasya pratyekamavasthitaṁ anvayavyatirekayoravagamena pāṣāṇakulasya sāhityabahirbhāvabhajanāt| pratyekatvañca na ca viśiṣyamāṇaṁ kartṛtvaṁ bīja-(8)-sya pratyekatvābhāvasvabhāvo' pratyekarūpaḥ sahakāricakrasaṁparkaḥ kathaṁ viśeṣaṁ śaknuyāt nahi cakṣurnāsti tena ca viśiṣṭamiti śiṣṭeṣṭaḥ pakṣaḥ| athāpi pra (9) tyekatvasya sāhitye pratyekamanvayādergṛhītau nāpratyekatvena viśiṣyata taduttarakālaṁ punarviśeṣaṇīyaṁ etāvanti sahakārīṇi sahitāni hi tā ni kāryāyeti pāṭhāntara aparahastena sāmagrīmīhamāno mānocitastāmevādatte sāmagrīpāṣāṇatalākīrṇāmapīti cet n akāraṇavikalpakatvādeva nopādīyate (2) kāryārthinā śilāśakalādiko bhāvaḥ| kintayā viśiṣya karaṇīyaṁ yadā tu viśeṣaṇametādṛśaṁ apasāritam| atha tadānīṁ avaśiṣyamāṇaṁ brīhikalevaraṁ kāraṇatvena niṣṭaṅkitena (3) atyantāyogavyacchedānumitau kevalamapi kadācitkarotu sāmagrīsamavagraha kāla iti prasaṅgasaṅkīrṇavataḥ prathano manorathonmatho'yaṁ prārthitodoṣaḥ prārthitaḥ (4) tadayuktam -
sāmarthya hi kṛtiḥ yogyatā vā ? nādyaḥ sādhyāviśiṣṭatvaprasaṅgāt| nāpi dvitīyaḥ sā hi sahakārisākalyaṁ yā| pratisvikī vā, nādyaḥ siddhasādhanatvāt, parānabhyupagamena (5) hetvasiddhiśca yatsahakārisamavadhānavattaddhi karotyeveti ko nāma nābhyupaiti yamuddaśya| sādhyate, na cākaraṇakāle sahakārisamavadhānavanto'smānabhyupeyate (6) yataḥ prasaṅga pravarteta| prātisvikī tu yogyatā anvayavyatirekaviṣayībhūtaṁ bījatvaṁ vā syāt tadavāntarajātibhedo vā| sahakārivaikalyaprayuktakāryābhāvavatvaṁ vā| nādyaḥ (7) akurvvatopi bījajātīyasya pratyakṣasiddhatvāt| tavāpi tatrāvipratipatteḥ| netaraḥ tasya kurvatyapi mayānabhyupagamena dṛṣṭāntasya sādhanavikalatvāt| ko hi nāma susthātmā (8) pramāṇaśūnyamabhyupagacchet| sa hi na pratyakṣeṇa anubhūyate tathā'navasāyāt | nāpyanumānena liṅgābhāvāt| yadi na kaścidviśeṣa, kathaṁ tarhi karaṇākaraṇe cet (9) ka evamāha neti| kiṁ jāti bhedarūpaḥ sahakārilābhālābharūpo veti niyāmakaṁ pramāṇamanusaranto na paśyāmaḥ tathāpi yo'yaṁ sahakārimadhyamadhyāsī no''kṣepakaraṇasvabhāvo bhāvaḥ sa yadi prāgapyāsīt tadā prasahya kārya kurvāṇo gīrvāṇaśāpaśatenāpyapahastayituṁ na śakyate, iti cet”| yuktametat yadyakṣepakaraṇasvabhāvatvaṁ bhāvasya pramāṇagocaraḥ syāt kutaḥ tatsiddhamiti cet na vidbhaḥ| prasaṁga tadviparyayāmyāṁ tatsiddhiriti ce na, parasparāśrayaprasaṅgāt| evaṁ svabhāvatvasiddhau hi tayo pravṛttistat pravṛttau ca caivaṁ svabhāvatvasiddhiriti|
“syādetata kāryajanmaivāsminnarthai pramāṇaṁ vilambakārisvabhāvānuvṛttau kāryānutpatti sarvadeti cet|” na, bilambakārisvabhāvasya sarvadaivākaraṇe (4) tattvavyāghātāt| tataśca bilambakārītyasya yāvatsahakāryasannidhānaṁ tāvanna karotītyarthaḥ| evaṁ ca kāryajanmasāmagryāṁ pramāṇayituṁ na śakyate na tu jātibhede| te tu kiṁ (5) yathānubhavaṁ parasparasāpekṣā vilambakāritvabhāvāḥ parasparaṁ pratyāsannāḥ kārya kṛtavantaḥ kiṁ vā yathātvaparikalpane kṣiprakārisvabhāvā inyatra (6)kāryopajananamajāgarūkameveti|
nāpi tṛtīyaḥ, virodhāt sahakāryabhāvaprayuktakāryābhāvavāṁśca sahakārivirahe kāryāvāṁśceti vyāhatam| (7) tasmād yadyadabhāva eva yanna karoti tattadabhāva tatkarotyeti syāt| etacca sthairyasiddhereva paraṁ bījasarvasvamiti etena samarthavyavahāraocarattvaṁ heturiti nirastam| tādṛgvyavahāra(8) gocarasyāpi bījasyāṁkurākaraṇadarśanāt| nāsau mukhyastatravyavahāraḥ| tasya janananimittatvāt| “anyathātvaniyamaprasaṅgāditi ceti, na, kīdṛśaṁ punarjana (9) naṁ mukhyasamarthavyavahāranimittam| na tāvadākṣepakaraṇaṁ nimittaṁ tasyāsiddheḥ| niyamasya ca sahakārādisākalye satyeva karaṇa karaṇameveti ye evaṁ svabhāvatvenāpyu-patteḥ| tataśca janananimitta evāyaṁ vyavahāro na ca vyāptisiddhiriti|”
jaraṭhakamaṭhapṛṣṭhakarparakaṇeramatikaṭukūṭaprakaṭanapaṭalamativikaṭamatipāṭavāḍhyo yena (2) vipāṭitamasyeti narīnṛtyatāṁ tribhuvananagaranartanaṭīvādakīrtanakīrtiḥ kṛtikadambakasyeti kimadhikamatra sambadanīyam| etenāyogavyava, cchedena kartṛttvaṁ (3) kartṛtvasāmānyapariṇāmamapi purodhāya dhūrtabrūvasvasvīkaraṇamaśaraṇamārabdhamevaṁ yadyadā yatkaraṇasamarthavyavahārābhyaṅgastaṁ tattadā tatkarotyeva yathāntyāva (4) sthāyāṁ prāk pṛthagavasthāyāmapi bījamabījaparājitvarasatvaramevaṁvidhamavadhāritam| na ca karotyeveti tadviparyayaparyāṁlocanā rpyastanitāntāntaḥ (5) karaṇena kṛtinā sampattavyam| tadevamabījaparāvṛttaṁbījaṁ dharmapratyakṣānupalambhārambhasambhāvitānvayavyatirekikāryatayā nirṇītakartṛtvasāmānyajamākṣiptākṣepa (6) kāritvānakṣepakāritvalakṣaṇajananajanitaṁ tatsamarthavyavahārayogyatvaṁ sādhanaṁ sādhyañcātra karotyapi karotyeveti vā kartṛtvadvayaṁ paryāyato yathā parābhyupagamaṁ svayamapi (7) sambhavati pakṣadvayasya pratikṣepālakṣaṇātsāmānyasya viśeṣāvyāpteḥ sambhavāt| pakṣadvayasyāpekṣyāpi lakṣayitavyamevaṁ prasaṅgatadviparyayamaparyāsitaṁ kṣaṇenāpi dūṣa (1) ṇagaṇasya yadyatkaraṇasamarthavyavaharaṇakāraṇatvābharaṇasya tamupalabdhaṁ tattadākaraṇavat yathāntyāyāṁ daśāyāṁ prākpṛthagavasthāyāmapi bījamajātajaratvamanu(2) matam| evamekapratyavamarśamasṛṇamanīṣayā manīṣijanena| na ca nicīyamānamāmnātamapi kadācanāpi kevalaṁ karaṇena duścalakukṣinikṣepādidaśāyāṁ (3) diśopi daśāśeṣā paryaṭatā prāṇivādena pratyekasyāsya janakatvamavadhāritam| ato na paritoṣaḥ sākalyasya svasvabodhena samādhānena ca budhaparārthyasya pratyekami(4) tyaṅgīkaraṇe svābhāvasvābhāvyamabhāvapratiyogitvaṁ tadaiveti sahitaṁ tatraiveti sahitaṁ ubhayasahitaṁ tathaiveti sahitamāsaktamiti svakāṇḍa (5) daṇḍakhaṇḍitāḍambaraṁ svavacanasamvaraṇamapi palāyanaparāgaṇamāpātitamiti vipadeṣā samūladhātacyuti kathaṁ pratikartavyeti| dūrataralalocanapracala(6) jaladasrāsrudhārāsahasreṇā pi na trāṇamāmaraṇāntamārtakātaratvaravādino varākasyeti sānukrośamapi svāntasantarayati na vādavidhau vācā(7) lagalitāmityalamalīkakāvyakalpanājalpairanalpairnyāyābhiniveśī bhava bhavyopi nyāyanītau| “(1) tathāhi kastavāyaṁ nyāyaḥ atha etāvatāpi bhāvasya kaḥ svabhāvaḥ samarthito bhavati| nahi pakṣavipakṣābhyāmanyaḥ prakāro'stīti cet na dūṣaṇābhidhānasamaye niścayābhāvenaiva sandigdhāsiddhinirvāhe kathāpūrvarūpaparya (8) vasānādityanena|” prasaṅgasādhanaṁ parāmyupagamena vā saṁbhāvyamānatayā vā prakārāntarābhāvāt prastūyate| tatra sandigdhāsiddhatvamuktvā dūṣaṇameva mayaiva nābhyupagatamiti cet taccintyatāṁ kartṛtvamanumanyase tāvad tacca yāvat pūrvasthitameva pratyabhijñāśritya ityāśrayobījātmakaṁ yatkāryamavyapekṣakamanvayavyatirekāsāmarthyāvasthita(2) tathābhāvaṁ tāvadatyantāyogavyavacchedanakartṛtvarupaṁ paryavasitamabhaṅgameva prasaṅgasya kathaṁ saṁdigdhāsiddhadoṣeṇa śoṣayituṁ śakyam| ākṣepakāritvamapi tatrādhiṣṭhitā (3) ta bhāgādidantayādhiṣṭhitaṁ bhāgaṁ sākalyagarbbhāvirbhūtaṁ bhāvayitvā sambhāvitaṁ tato'dhiṣṭhitaṁ bhāge'vinirbhāgabhāvinaṁ bhāvato bhāṣyate tadeva bījaṁ pūrvamapyāsīditi (4) tadākṣepakāritvakṣaṇajananajanitasamarthavyavahārayogyatvaṁ prasaṅgasādhanaṁ kathaṁ saṁdigdhāsiddhyā vidhūnanīyaṁ iti na prativādisamāśritottarapakṣapratānakathāpū (5) rvvabhāgaḥ svarūpabhaṅgamanaṅgīkṛtyāstīti vyastamakhiladoṣodbhāvananigrahādhikaraṇaprasaṅgavat| ubhayamapi akṣepakāritvānapekṣakāritvamanullikhyai (6) va bījaṁ kevalaṁ sahakārimadhye'pyavasitakartṛbhāvaṁ prāgapi kurvan tathābhūtamiti bhāvato bhāṣasva susadhisādhibādhanam| [samādhimādhibādhanam ]
nanu bhāṣita eva samādhiḥ| tathāhi -kṛ(7) tiṁ prati-avilamba iti bhāvaḥ| kimutpatteranantarameva kṛtiḥ sahakārisamavadhānāntaraṁ vāvilamba iti ko'rthaḥ ? kiṁ yāvanna sahakārisamarthānā samavadhānaṁ tāvadakaraṇaṁ sarva(8) thaivākaraṇamiti vā| tatra prathamacaturthayoḥ pramāṇābhāvāt, aniścaye dvitīyatṛtīyatoḥ pratyakṣameva pramāṇaṁ bījajātīyasya hi sahakārisamavadhānāntarakara (9) karaṇa-karaṇameveti pratyakṣasiddhameva| tathā sahakāri samavadhānarahitasyākaraṇamityapi| atra ca tavāpi na vigatiḥ eṣa pramāṇasiddhatvāt viparyaye vā dhakācca| tathāhi yadi sahakārivirahe'kurvvāṇastatsamavadhāne'pi na kuryāt tajjātīyamakāraṇameva syāt| samavadhānāsamavadhānayorubhayorapyakaraṇāt| evaṁ yadi tatsamavadhāna (2) virahe'pi kuryāt sahakāriṇo na kāraṇaṁ syuḥ tānantareṇāpi karaṇāt| tathā cānanyathāsiddhānvayavyatirekavatāmapyakāraṇatve kāryasyākasmikatvaprasaṅgaḥ (3) tathā kādācitkatvavihatiriti| evañca dvitīyapakṣa vivakṣāyāmakṣepakāritvameva bhāvasya svabhāvaḥ| tṛtīyapakṣavivakṣāgāntu kṣepakāritvameva bhāvasya svarūpamiti nobhayaprakāranivṛttiriti| ta eva (etat) aho apūrvo'yamasya dambhārambhaḥ sa bhramabhūmibhūyiṣṭhabhautabalabhojaphalambhoja sthitaḥ kaṣṭayati bhūtabhāṣaṇabhūṣaṇamapibhrātṛvyasa (5) mupetaṁ tathā he he bhaiṣī ca praṇayaramaṇīyabhāṣaṇabhūmnā svasamānmāyanāmānaṁ arthasārtha sahakārisāhityamaparityajya samarthanaṁ te tatvataḥ sāhityamudāhṛtya tacca tat(6) kṛtamiti vikrītagavīrakṣaṇavṛttāntamupaharati| tathaukteranantaraṁ vyākṛtiniścale kīrtimata saṁkīrtyate ‘sādhanatvena pramāṇaphalaṁ hitat| sati hi (7) kṣaṇakṣīṇatopalakṣaṇena prekṣāvāṁśca kṣaṇiko'kṣepapakṣapramukhānāṁ yathāsukhasukhaṁ lekhayāpi khaṇḍayituṁ duḥśaktam| idṛśasaśaktisamarthanam| tasmādācā (8) ryavacanāt tameva śruti-śrutipuṭakena kaṇehṛtya prīyatāṁ prītyā na sa sāhityepi pararupeṇa karttā svarūpañcatasya prāgapīti prāgapi kuryāditi| yadapyamunā (9) nayena vivadatā vādini susthitam| tathāpi kiṁ asamarthasyaiva sahakārivirahaḥ svarūpalābhānantaraṁ kartureva vā sahakārisamavadhānamanyathā neti ki niyāmaka (10) miti cet ‘idamucyate kuśūlasthabījasyāṁkurānukūlaḥ śilāśakalādviśeṣaḥ kaścidasti na vā, na cenniyamena ekatra pravṛttireva na syānnivṛttiśca tadarthino na syāt paramparayā'ṅkuraprasavasamarthabījakṣaṇajananādastyeveti cet - kadā punaḥ paramparayāpi tathābhūtaṁ kariṣyatīti| tatra sandeha iti cet| sa punaḥ kimākāraḥ kiṁ sahakāriṣu (2) samavahiteṣvapi teṣu kariṣyati na veti| uta asamavahiteṣvapi kariṣyati na veti| atha yadā sahakārisamavadhānaṁ tadaiva kariṣyatyeveti| kadā teṣāṁ samavadhānamiti (3)sandehaḥ| nādyaḥ samānyataḥ kāraṇatvānavadhāraṇaitasyānavakāśāt| avakāśe vā kāraṇatvāvadhāraṇāt| netaraḥ sahakāriṇāṁ tattvāvadhāraṇe tasyāna (4) vakāśāt, avakāśe vā teṣāṁ tattvānavadhāraṇāt| tṛtīye tu sarva eva tatsantānāntaḥpātino bījakṣaṇāḥ samānaśīlā prapnuvanti yatra tatra sahakāri (5) samavadhāne sati kṛti niyamāt sarvatra ca sahakārisamavadhānasambhavāt| ‘samartha eva kṣaṇe kṣityādisamavadhānamiti cet- tatkimasama(6)rthe sahakārisamavadhānameva na| samavadhāne satyapi vā na tasmātkāryajanma| nādyaḥ śilāśakalādāvapi kṣitisalilatejaḥ pavana yoga(7) darśanāt| netaraḥ śilāśakalādiva kadācitsahakārisākalyavatopi vījādaṅkurānutpattiprasaṅgāt|” evamapisyāt| ko doṣa iti cet(8) na tāvadidamupalabdham| āśaṅkayata iti cenna tatsannidhāne satyapi akaraṇavat tadvirahepi karaṇayogamapyāśaṅkyeta āśaṅkyatāmiti cet-tarhi bījavirahe'pi āśaṅkyeta| tathā ca sādhvī (9) pratyakṣānupalambhapariśuddhiḥ| syādetat na bījādīnāṁ parasparasamavadhānavatāmeva kāryakaraṇamaṅgīkṛtyāśaṅkyate yena samavadhānāniyamā sarveṣāmbā tajjātī yānāmekarasatā niścayaḥ syāt| nāpi yatra tatra samarthopapattimaṅgīkṛtya yena vikalaibhyo'pi kāryajanmasambhāvanāyāṁ pratyakṣānupalambhavirodhaḥsyāt| kinnāma bījādiṣu sa (2) mavahiteṣvavāntarajātiviśeṣamāśrityāpi kāryajanmasambhāvyata iti|” na dṛṣṭasamavadhānamātreṇaiva upapattau tatkalpanāyāṁ pramāṇābhāvāt kalpanāgauravaprasaṅgaḥ (3) pratihatatvāt atīndriyendriyādivilopaprasaṅgāt kalpanānupapatterviśeṣasya viśeṣaṁprati prayojakatvācceti” - tadapyasāraṁ - bījasyajanmani jananaṁ yena niru(4)pitameva nidānamaṅkurakāṇḍakaliśaprabhṛti -urṇavanayavanavanakusūlatalanimīlayadapi dātrasūrya (śūrpa) mṛtimukkuraprakramāditadanantaramupanayogyabelāvilokanekusū(6) lakakṣitadākaṣaprakarṣakṣetredharādhāmādisamavadhānamupasarppaṇapratyayapratibaddhamabhyavasitamakhilena pariṇatiparamparayā ca kiyatyā pūjyate saṅgatima(6)ñjasā aṅkurākhyaṁ kṣityādīnāṁ kāryaṁ nyakṣeṇālakṣita tadetasya pariṇatakāraṇaparamparāyāṁ bhindati sa svabhāvo vā bījasvabhāvo'cyutaprācyarūpo vā va (7) stuto'stviti vimarśapūrvakaṁ kharvvagarvabhṛtaḥ prastubate tatrānarthāntarajātibhedānumatirmateḥ puro nāpi prakṛtaprabandhānubandho bauddhānāṁ prasiddhaḥ siddhāntaḥ (8) punarīdṛśaḥ - nikhilāstrikarṇasukhaṁkurvāṇaḥ
tadyathā samarthaḥ kutaḥ utpanna iti cet svakāraṇebhyaḥ| tānyenamaparapratyayasannidhāna eva kiṁ janayanti ? kadācidanyathā syāt tataścaikopi kvacijjanayediti cet "aparāparapratyayayogena pratyabhikṣaṇaṁ bhinnaśaktayaḥ santanvantaḥ saṁskārāḥ yadyapi kutaścetsāmyātsarupāḥ pratiyante tathāpi bhinnaevai ṣāṁ svabhāvastena kiśñcideva kasyacitkāraṇamiti "kasmād” dṛśyāvāntarajātibhedopālambhaḥ sṛgallapallavitaḥ prabalajanavaduttānenāntaḥkaraṇaṁ prīṇāti prā (2) māṇikasya sthūlaparāmarśena hi vijātīyavyāvṛttavījāvarjitaṁ svakāryakāritvamavasthāpitamapi sūkṣmāvāntaraprasaṅgatadviparyayaparyālocanākhya vimarśāntaravṛtyā (3) bījatvādhiṣṭhitasvabhāvaviśeṣapratiṣṭhitaṁ prasādhyate kiṁ tatrānupapannaṁ nāma yathā davīyasi deśe viniveśitātmabhāvaṁ bhāvaṁ vibhāvya vṛkṣa ityavṛkṣavyāvṛttamavadhārayatyavadhā (4) raṇādhvarīṇodbhava janaḥ putraḥ sannidhānādhīnadhīviśeṣeṇa śiṁśapeti tatrāpyete nirūpaṇāt vakrakoṭarapaṭalaghaṭitasskandhasandhiriti svabhāvāntaramavagamya (5) mānamapi na vṛkṣatvaśiśapātva śūnyamavasīyate| na vā sarvovṛkṣaḥ śiṁśapā na vā sarve ca śiṁśapā vakrakoṭarapaṭalaghaṭitaskandhasandhiriti tathābhūtaṁ prastutama (7) pyastu vastuvyathāvyūhasyāpahateḥ anupahasita eva sādhyāsādhanabhāvaḥ bījatvameva hi sāmānyambidhirūpe'vasthitaṁ akhilāsu vyaktiṣu nāsmākamaṅgīkārago (7) caraḥ punaśca tatrāvāntarādṛśyajātibhedābhyupagamavādo vāvadūkakalpita evamucyate [muhyate] na puñjapuñjena pratyarthitaḥ, etaccāmbaravartmavartikamalaparimalālolarolambamānā (8) virāvakulāvagāhi, yaduta- sa khalu jātiviśeṣaḥ saṁgrāhako vā syāt pratikṣepako vā syāt - evaṁ śālitvamapi saṁgrāhakaṁ carapratikṣepakaṁ vā|” na ca nobhayamapītyādi (9) yathā vikalpakalpitapratidūṣaṇaprasaraḥ yasmātsmerāsyasarasīruhahārihasitenāpi nārpitasatyaṅkāraḥ kaścidapi vipaścidevaṁ vidhāvāntarajātibhede yādṛśastupa rāparapratyayaprabandhānubandhabodhitaḥ sāmānyasambhave'pi svabhāvabhedastathā prakhyāpitamanantaraṁ sahetu hetuvittasaṁspandanena yatpunaruktirucyate viśeṣasya viśeṣaṁ prati prayo (2) jakavirodhācce’ ti tatsiddhameva sādhayitumārabdham| tathāpi yadyapi kutaścit sā syāt sarūpāḥ pratīyante tathāpi bhinna evaiṣāṁ svabhāva iti bhāṣayā śālibījatvādhiṣṭhitāntyavyaktilakṣaṇañca (3) vilakṣaṇasvabhāvaviśeṣavibhrānta eva kartṛvādo'ṅkuraṁ pratisthūlaparāmarśavyavasthāpi tatkartṛbhāvabhājaṁ bījadharmmiṇaṁ adhyavasāyasāhityetarayoravasthayoḥ adhikaraṇakara (4) ṇe kalayā kalayitumaśakye virodhākarṣiprasaṅgaṁ tadviparyayapramāṇamaikyaparipanthipaśyatā dṛśyate hi prāmāṇikacakramaulilālitacaraṇayugalānā (5) mapyevaṁvidho kṣaṇavyāhāraḥ yathā pramāṇetataratāsādhāraṇavedavākyamākalayyādhikaraṇapramāṇāntareṇa prāmāṇyalakṣaṇasvabhāvāntarasādhanam| yathā vā (6) mahīmahīdharādiśaśadharakṛtetarādinā rūpeṇa saṁdigdhamapi dharmapurodhāya sādhanāntareṇa tanute jano jānāti cācaraṇīyacakrabahuviratitattvaṁ yaścāyamu(7) -pasaṁhāraḥ saṁddabdhaḥ| tasmādyo yathābhūto yathābhūtamātmano'nvayavyatirekāvanukārayati tasya tathābhūtasyaiva tathābhūte sāmarthyam, tadviśeṣāstu kāryaviśeṣaṁ prayojayanti śālyādivaditi yuktamutpaśyāma iti mayokto yasmātsthūlāskhalitapratyākalanena aṅkenādāya tasminnaṁśe niḥśaṅkaḥśaṅkaśukopilokaḥ| kathaṁkathi(9) -kastu tadavāntaravicāracakracaurapravyāvitasthūladṛṣṭiniviṣṭabuddhiḥ prameyaḥ pradāpyate| nāmunā nyāyeneti punarbhaṇāmaḥ| anyabījajātīyamapi ca kusūlamī lanānuktabījaṁ bījatvena nirūpaṇāt| anayoravasthayoḥ sthitaikasvabhāvatvaṁ viruddhatā prasaṅgādināpramāṇenāha prayojakamātreṇābījatvamāyātīti kena bhāvena bhāṣya-(1)-te| kintayoravasthayo sthitasya sthairya pratyakṣeṇa siddhamasti| atha tadvā syāttāddak cāsyānukaścidviśeṣamityabhisandhinā|
atha prasaṅgatadviparyayameva na kiñciditi kṛtvā| kiṁvā bījatvameva (3) sāmānyamātmasakalavyaktipratyekaparisamāptamūrtisahajaśaktisaśabditamāgantu śakti vyapadeśyaṁ sahakārisāhityasametamupalabdhamaṅkurajananayojyamanyathātve (4) bījatve iti manasi niveśya sthairyasya pratyakṣasiddhiparyālocanātśūnyatvānnādyaḥ| tādṛk tvamapi paryantavatināmeva bījānāmiti dvitīyopi na| prasaṅgatadvi (5) paryayapramāṇaṁ punarnirastasamastadūṣaṇam| abījaparāvṛtyā bījatvaṁ bahutamavyaktisammate'pi pūrvāparakālayorbīje niścāyayiṣyate tena nijāgantukaśaktipakṣo (6) pakṣeṇa vailakṣaṇyāviṣkaraṇamātramatrāṇaṁ aṁkurasya jātiniyamākarmmakatvaprasaṅgastuviparyayavādhakamabādhakameva yatī'bījaparāvṛttiviśeṣeṇa bījatva (7) vāṅkuratvaniyamasyopapatteḥ| etena viparyayopyanaikāntikaḥ kathitaḥ| bījaviśeṣa eva hi prayojako na tanmātraṁ bījasya pramāṇavṛtterbalavatvāt| sthūladṛṣṭyā tvevamavasthāpya tāṁ na vyavahārahāniḥ pratibandhasādhanopāyaḥ punaḥ sāpāyaḥ aṅkurasya hi jātiniyamo na tāvannirmittaḥ, sārvatrikaprasaṅgāt| nāpyanyanimittaḥ tathābhūtasyābhāvāt seyaṁ (2) nimittavatā vipakṣānnivartamānā svavyāpyamādāya bījaprayojakatāmeva viśrāmyatīti pratibandhasiddhirityevaṁ varṇitā bījatvādhiṣṭhitasvabhāvabhedasyānyāvasthārūpatayā tūpalakṣaṇa (3) stha aṅkuratvaniyamaṁ pratiprayojakatvāt| vyabhicāryeva bījatvamātramaṅkurasyaprayojakatāyāṁ bījasvabhāvatvamātraṁ nāṅkure prayojakam, prayojakaṁ punaḥ tatsvabhāvādhiṣṭhita-(4) śeṣādhiṣṭhitaṁ prayatamāne bījatvamupalabdhamiti sthūlakalanam, na rūḍhakaphalaṁ tat anālokitastattvasthaloti etadeva tvamiti nāsau vyavahāraḥ pāramārthika(5) ityetattadā evamavatārito vicāraḥ kathaṁ prastāvamavavisphūryate tena bījasvabhāvatvaṁ kvacitkārye prayojakatvaṁ na vā ? na cettatsvabhāvaṁ bījam, tena rūpeṇa (6) kaścidapyanupayogāt| evaṁ ca pratyakṣasiddhaṁ bīṁjasvabhāvatvannāsti sarvapramāṇāgocarastu viśeṣo'stīti viśuddhā buddhirityupahāsabhāvāpyupahasitabhāva(7) meva tiraskaroti| kvacidapyupayoge tvekasya tena rūpeṇa sarveṣāmaviśeṣa tādrūpyāditi| yadyapi kutaścitsāmyātsarūpā pratīyante tathāpi bhinna eva eṣāṁ (8) svabhāvastena kiñcideva kasyacitkāraṇamityanena tathātvaṁ yacca bhāva syāditi kathitaṁ tadapi aprāptasahakārisāhityābhyāṁ viśeṣādipariṇāmalakṣaṇasāmarthyakāraṇa-(9) tvāt| antyabījarūpatvābhāvāt prasiddharoṣastiṣṭhati| tadeva hi tanna pūrva na paratvāditi kiṁ mukhasyete tasmāṁtpratikṣaṇamaparāparayat kāryānukūlapratyaya sākalyamadhi śayya bījatvamavāntaraṁ svabhāvālambanaṁ samvedyate tadeka kāryaprati tathābhūtaṁ samvedyate tadekakāryaṁ prati tathābhūtaṁ tadeva prayojakamasadvādagrahaḥ yaduktamanena tathā ca (2) bījaṁ kiṁcideva svakārya kuryānnāparāṇi| na ca vastumātraṁ tatkāryaṁ abījādanutpattiprasaṅgāt | nāpi bījamātraṁ aṁkurakāriṇo'pi tadutpattiprasaṅgāt| nāpyaṅkurānyatamamātraṁ prāgapi tadutpattiprasaṅgāt| yadāyadutpannaṁ (3) sat yatkāryānukūlasahakārimadhyamadhiśete tadā tadeva kāya prati tasya prayojakamiti cet tatkimavāntarajātibhedamupādāya bījasvabhāvenaiveti vā ādye (4) sa eva jātibhedaḥ tatra prayojakaḥ kimāyātaṁ bījatvasya dvitīye tu samānaśīlānāmapi sahakārivikalpādakaraṇamityāyātaṁ tattatsahakāri sā (5)- hitye tattat kāryaṁ prati prayojakasya bījasvabhāvasya sarvasādhāraṇatvāditi| atrāpi prayogaḥ yat yena rūpeṇa arthakriyāsu nopamucyate na tattadrū paṁ yathā bī (6) jaṁ aṅkuratvena na kiṁcidpyakurvan na aṅkurasvarūpaṁ tathā ca śālyādayaḥ sāmagrīṁ praviṣṭādhibījatvenārthakriyāsu upayujyanta iti vyāpakānupalabdhiḥ (7) prasaṅgahetuḥ tadrūpatāyāṁ arthakriyāṁ pratiyogyatayā vyāptatvāt, anyathātiprasaṅgāt| tadrūpatvameva tasya pratyakṣasiddhatvādaśakyāpahravamiti cet - astu tarhi vi-(8)-paryayaḥ| yat yadrūpaṁ tattenārthakriyāsūpayujyate| yathā svabhāvena sāmagrī niveśino bhāvā bījajātīyārścaite kuśūlasthāsādayaḥ iti svabhāvahetuḥ tadrūpamātrā (9) nubandhitvāt yogyatāyāḥ tataścāsti kiñcitkāryaṁ yatra bījamupajyate| ityādirārambhe gambhīraḥ kaṇeravat tatsūramargalaḥ prasphuṭitaśaṁkha-(śṛṁga)-vat prabandho baddho vā bāla kathaya kutaḥ kutarke tvayā kalitaḥ| yataḥ pradarśādyānavadyavidyācāryaprakāṇḍaparipiṇḍinvīkṣikīkīrtitadharmakīrtikamatamaparāparapratyayogenetyādikaṁ prasaṅgo nāṅgasaṁgataḥ|
(2) tadrūpatāmātrasya vastuvat prasūtaprarohādikāryārjanayogyatayā vyāptyayogāt| kāraṇābhāvāt samarthasvabhāvānupapatteḥ| tathāhi tatra yo'vyavadhānādi deśabīja-(3)- viśvambharādikalāpaḥ sa sabhāgāṅkurakaraṇe samartho hetuḥ yasteṣāṁ parasparopasarpaṇāśraya pratyayaviśeṣaḥ (4) sa taddhetujanane samarthaḥ teṣāñca na pūrvaṁ na paścāt na pṛthak bhāva iti samarthānāmapi pūrvāparapṛthagbhāvabhāvino doṣā nopalīyante| tenaiṣā parasparopasarpaṇādiheturyaḥ samarthaheturiti tasya na kadācidanyathābhāvaḥ| anena (5) nyāyena sarvatra hetuphalabhāvapratiniyamaḥ draṣṭavyaḥ pratikṣaṇaṁ anyānyasvabhāvabhedānvayinīṣu bhāvaśaktiṣu na tu sthiraikabhāveṣu bhāveṣu svabhāvasyānyathātvāsaṁbhavāt (6) samarthāsamarthasvabhāvayoḥ kriyākriyāyogāt| anyasahitaḥ karoti cet kiṁ na kevala iti cet kiṁ kevalasya kāryakaraṇe'samarthaḥ svabhāvaḥ| samarthaḥ kiṁ na karoti? (7) akurvan kathaṁ samartha iti ? hetuvindāvācāryavacanamakalaṅkahariṇāṅkanirmalamapi svapakṣanirvāhavāhādhirohādiva pratyūhavyūhavyastamupanyastavān abhyasitamanīṣaḥ pā-(8) rśvakarāni utprekṣyate sāhityamupādhimadhiropya sāmarthyāsāmarthyāpekṣayā prasaṅgatadviparya yapratyāśāṁ śāti bhavān tatrāpyācāryavacanaṁ na sāhityepi para-(9) rūpeṇa kartā svarūpañcāsya prāgapīti prāgapi kuryāt| iti sāhityepi na sāhityaviśeṣaṇaṁ karaṇasāmarthya miti prasaṅgāt| proktaṁ vākyantu tataḥ svabhāvaniṣṭha-(10) mapratiṣṭhāpya prasaṅgo nāṅgasaṅgatimaṅgīkarotyuktameva|
nanu sati kṣaṇabhaṁga bhaṁgireṣāgurugariṣṭhopi śāstrakṛtaḥ tatprasādhakapramāṇaprasaṅgasaṅgatau durgatāṅganādohadalīlāṁ samudvahati picchilatattvatucchānacchārthā sa ya samūrcchalitā pakṣālakalaṅgaṇabharṅginaḥ sādhīyebhyo'pi samyebhyo bībhatsanta iti (2) naitadāścaryaṁ sahasreṇāpi hi niṣpīḍāmavadhānataḥ surapatirakṣāṁ vīkṣyamāṇo na prekṣate'sau sthitasthitasthityādisaṁvidhānādaparadaśāyāṁ bījasya janakatvamiti (3) sthirapakṣe kathamayaṁ niyamo mahanīyatāṁ nīyatāṁ kiṁ svahetudattamaryādatayā sāmagrayepi vā pratyekasāmarthyāsamarthamasahatayā vā paryantapratipannaparyantapratipannasaṁmūrcchanatādi sva-(4)-bhāvahīnatayā vā paripakṣādṛṣṭasadasatkarmanirmāṇanirmūlatayā vā dṛśyate tāvadevamevaṁ te kathamityanarthakaprathamakathā prathanādvā kaścarat purato gacchet svabhraṁ (5) vā svargameveti pakṣāḥ pañcendriyakalpanāt pañca vā upaskṛtasañcitānyaviṣayaniścayanānnādyā manasi vipaścitaḥ praviśati śakyamevamatathyamapi (6) sthāpayituṁ svakāraṇakalāpaparikalpitaṁ cakṣuṣo rūpaṁ yadidaṁ madīyo rūpaṁ ca samavaiti|
śabdamatha pratyāsīdantaṁ tadātmanā tulayati aparatrānyevaṁ viṣaye-(7)-'nuśāsanīyamiti tṛpañcatayī kalpanā pāramārthikī syāt grāhyā'rthaviṣayā upadravyaṁ bhāvayituṁ pāryante| svahetudattamaryādatayā yadekameva hi svahetuvihitaviśeṣa (8) pañca vā dhiyaṁ dhatte pañcaprapañcacakṣurādīndriyaprasādāditi tadanantaramaghātapariśīlinamapi (śīlanīyaṁ) ekaikaśaḥ kalitānvayavyatirekatvāt anyapariṇāmapraṇāśamā-(9)-śaṁsatāṁ pūrvāśivatātiḥ prativādasya prārabdhāpriyeṇa priyamanuṣṭhitam| karmmanirmāṇanaipuṇyaṁ na pramāṇayatā praṇetavyo vyomāntarjātoyo vījādi bhāva (grāmaḥ) tasya dṛṣṭābhiniviṣṭatve vā kāmaṁ anya pratīkṣo'stu, niyamastu virudhyata iti guruprabādhakapramāṇaprahāraḥ prakṛṣṭa āste| vādādikathā navyasya kathane ca vikṣepanigrahaprasaṅgaḥ (2) syāt pakṣapūjāviṣkaraṇamātramantimasapakṣe lakṣyate na punaradhikaṁ kiñcit|
tasmāt tathā tatkāraṇaṁ vastu tathaiva tadakāraṇam
yathā tatkāraṇaṁ kena mataṁ neṣṭamakāraṇam| (3)
svabhāvabhedena binā vyāpāro'pi na yujyate|
nityasyādhyatirekitvāt sāmarthyañca duranvanyam||
iti prasaṅgatadviparyaya preriṇāprasaraḥ sthiratve sati janakatvena nirṇītasyānti-(4)-ma pariṇāme brīhiviśeṣasyāvicala iti sthitamācāryavacanaṁ tasmāttatsvabhāvasya anyathātvāsambhavāt| taddharmaṇastu tathābhāvo'ntyāvasthāvadanivāryaḥ| antyāvasthāyāṁ-(5)-prāga samarthasya sāmarthyotpattau sāmarthyasya tatsvabhāvatve'pūrvotpattireva sā| atatsvabhāvatve sa prāgiva paścādapi akāraka eva| sāmarthyākhyātapadārthānta (6) rātkāryonpatteriti tasmātpratiṣṭhitasvabhāvabhāgī bhāvaḥ| ahetubhirjanyate na punaryayathānupratiṣṭhaḥ bījantu sati sahakārisākalye saṁdigdhe ni-(7)-ghananibandhanādhīnatvaṁ saśaṁsitasaṁbhāvanaṁ svahetunā janyata iti janyametat samastanyāyanīte|
pāratantryaṁ hi sambandhaḥ siddhe kā paratantratā|
tasmātsarvasya bhāvasya sambandho nāsti tattvataḥ|
rūpe śleṣo hi sambandho dvitve sati kathaṁ bhavet|
tasmātprakṛtibhiḥnnānāṁ sambandho nāsti tattvataḥ||
parāpekṣāpi sambandhaḥ so'san (9) kathamapekṣate|
saṁśca saṁvanirāśaṁso bhāvaḥ kathamapekṣate||
siddhāsiddhayorapekṣābhābādatyantasambhavī sambandhaḥ na siddhasyāsiddhaṁ kiñcidasti yadarthamapekṣyate yathā sāmānyātmanāsiddhaṁ viśeṣātmanārthamapekṣate aṅkurādiko bhāvaḥ niṣpattyaniṣpattivirudddharyādhyāsena bhinnatvāt siddhāsiddhavikalpānatikramāt tato na sahakārisāpekṣa-(2) balakṣapakṣādipadārthasārthasya sambhavaḥ svahetoḥ sambhāvanāspada nahi bhavati nijajanananigaḍaniyamita evāyaṁ naropasannamaunaniyama eva vācā vācaspati-(3) mapi picchayati| tasmātpramāṇaviruddha evārtho jñāpakena jñāpyate kāraka hetunā ca karaṇīya iti eṣa eva paramapramāṇikaḥ pracāraḥ|
yaccoktam “athavā vyatirekeṇa prayogaḥ (4) vivādādhyāsitaṁ bījaṁ sahakārivikalpaprayuktāṅkurādikāryavaikalyaṁ tadutpattiniścayaviṣayībhūtabījajātīyatvāt, tatpunaḥ sahakārivikalpaprayuktāṅkurādikārya (5) na bhavati tadevaṁbhūtajātīyam, yathā śilāśakalamiti etadapi na sasāhityepi pararūpeṇa kartā ityetena gatārthaḥ| aṁkurajanasvabhāvabhraṣṭabhāvādeva anā-(6)-virbhūtābhinavodbhidvījaṁ prāgavasthāyāmiti sthāpitameva| sthūlaparāmarśāśraye samāveśyābījavyāvṛttavījaviṣayamanvayavyatirekakalpanaṁ sūkṣmā'vā-(7)-ntaranirūpaṇaparāhanyamānamānasenāpi mantavyaṁ ko'tra mantrayate| tasmātsthūlaparāmarśāpekṣayā yadi svabhāvaviśeṣabhraṁśena nāsyāṅkurakāryavika(8) latvaṁ sādhyamevamanokāntaḥ| sūkṣmaprekṣāpakṣāpekṣatā yajjātīyatvamasiddham| sa eva hi tasya nāsti yastajjanakaḥ| niḥsvabhāva iti bhāvaḥ| tadatra paramārthaḥ satvaṁ (9) tu hetuḥ kṣaṇikatve kutaḥ sapakṣo jaladharaḥ sa ca sāśvadharmādhyāsito bodhanīyaḥ pramāṇena pramāṇañca prasaṅgaviparyaya tacca kiṁ vyāpāraṁ upapādyate| pūrvāparāvasthayoḥ karaṇākaraṇamadhyakṣaprekṣitaṁ lakṣyīkṛtya pramāṇāntarabādhādvā kādācitkānapekṣavat iti tarkopaniṣadācāryavacanādviruddhamekatve pūrvāparāvasthayorbījasya prānte prekṣitapratyekakartṛtvasya sādhayati karaṇākaraṇam| yasmādvirodhasya sāmānyalakṣaṇaṁ ca vicakṣaṇaḥ samācakṣāṇaḥ parabhāga-(3)-bhāgī tatra sāmānlayakṣaṇamekadharmaṇyanavasthitiniyatatvaṁ tacca sāmānyaṁ vyaktidvayātmanā viśeṣī syāt| sahānavasthānalakṣaṇaṁ parasparaparihārasthitalakṣaṇa-(4)-tākhyaṁ ca| tatra prācyasya (ādyasya) pratyakṣānupalambhapratyakṣāṇi sattā sādhyasiddhāni dvitīyasya punaranyonyabhedasiddhervā dhruvabhāvavināśavat pramāṇāntarabādhādvā| kādācit(5) kānapekṣavaditi vacanādupāyadvayamupanyastamāste| tatra tatkālaṁ kāritvamatatkālakāritvabhedena sidhyati viruddhaṁ na kālāntarākāritvena tadavacchede-(6)-nāsya vidhervidhuratvāt| yathā kādācitkamakādācitkatvena viruddhaṁ anapekṣatvamapi sāpekṣatvena|
atha cayenaiva pramāṇena kādācitkānapekṣa-(7)-yoḥ eka dharmiṇyanavasthitiniyatatvaṁ nirūpyate, tenaivānayorvirodho bodhasaudhādhirohī tadvatkālabhedena anāśritādimavirodhabodhopāyayora-(8)-pi karaṇākaraṇayoḥ prasaṅgaviparyayākhya makṣatapramāṇalakṣaṇamākhyāti, parasparapratyanīkatvamekadharmaṇyanavasthitiniyamaṁ nirūpayaditi palāyitaṁ pra(9) tyāśayā parasya ato yadaparamevamavādīt vādī tadapi dalitadardhamapasarpati sacivān|
astu bījatvameva prayojakam, bhavatu sahakārisannidhāne sati kartṛsvabhāvatvaṁ bhāvasya, tathā ca tadasannidhāne'karaṇamapyupapadyatām, tathāpi tajjātīyamātra eveyaṁ vyavasthā na tvekasyāṁ vyaktau karaṇākaraṇalakṣaṇaviruddha dharmādhyāsasya (2) tathā ca tadasaṁnidhāne pratyakṣasiddhatayā tatra durvāratvāditi cet-na virodhasvarūpānavavodhāt| sa khalu dharmayoḥ parasparābhāvarūpatvaṁ vā syāt nityānityavat(3) dharmiṇi tadāpādakatvaṁ vā śītoṣṇatvavat tadvatā vā daṇḍitva kuṇḍalitvavat|
nādyaḥ nirviśeṣaṇasyāsiddheḥ yāvatsatvaṁ kiñcittkaraṇāt| saviśeṣaṇasya tu virodhasiddhāva-(4)-pyadhyāsānupapatteḥ| yadāyadakaraṇaṁ hi tatkaraṇasyābhāvo na tvanyadā tatkaraṇasya na caitayorekadharmisamāveśamātiṣṭhāmahe| netaraḥ bhāvābhā(5) vavyatiriktayoḥ karaṇākaraṇāsiddheḥ vyāpārāparavyapadeśasahakāribhāvābhāvau hi karaṇākaraṇe kāryabhāvābhāvau vā| ati-(6)-rekasiddhāvapi svakāla evaṁ svābhāvapratikṣepavadakaraṇābhāvamākṣipet karaṇaṁ na tvanyadā| nahi yo yadā nāsti sa tadā svabhāvaṁ pratikṣeptumarha-(7)-ti, virodhyabhāvaṁ vā''kṣeptuṁ tathā sati na kadācidapi tatra syānna kadāpi tadvirodhī bhavediti| ‘nāsato vidyate bhāvo nābhāvo vidyate sata’ iti āyātaṁ na vā viro -(8)-dha ityādikamatarkya tārkikatvaṁ arkakarasaṁparkakarkaśagāminopo mano na sāntvayati asarpāyopetatvādamīṣāmasadvikalpānām| yat punaḥ prasaṅgavipa-(9)-rya yamadhikṛtyai vā (e) kābhidhānam “stāṁ vā tathāpi na tābhyāṁ śakyāśakyayoravivakṣita kāla bheda eva virodhaḥ, sādhyate tathopasaṁhartuṁ aśakyatvāt|” yadā tadetyupekṣya(10) yatsamartha tat karotyevetyupasaṁhartuṁ śakyamiti cet na kāla niyamāvivakṣāyāṁ yat samartha tat karotyeva kadācidit syāt| tathā ca sambhava vidheratyantā yogo viruddhaḥ, na tvayogaḥ nīlaṁ sarojaṁ bhavatyeveti vat iti| tadapi ayogo'tyantāyīgavyavacchedenāpi sarvadā bījasya satve sambhavantu katṛtvamityabhimatatvāt malinanalina-(2)- nibhaṁ nibhālanīyaḥ|
yaccoktam - "nanu yadasamatha (tvaṁ) prathamamāsīt, tasya paścādapi sāmarthya kuta āgatam| prathamaṁ samarthasya nā paścāt tatra gataṁ naitadevaṁ tattatsahakārimataḥ (3) tatkārakatvaṁ hi sāmarthya, atadvatastadanyavato vā tadakartṛ tvamasāmarthyamidañcautpattikamasya rūpamiti|” tadapi sahakārisāpekṣajananabījavimarśena gatam te ca (4) sahakāriṇaḥ svopasarppaṇa pratyayavaśādbhinnakālā ityarthāt kāryāṇāmapi bhinnakālateti tathāpyekakālastha eva bhāvo jāto naṣṭastadā kāryaṁ karotu utpannamā (5) trasya tatsvabhāvatvāt| ekadeśasthavaditi cet -seyamekakālatā svarūpakālāpekṣayā sahakārisāṁnidhyāpekṣayā vā ādye na kiñcidanupapannaṁ (6) nityānāmapi evaṁ rūpatvāt, vartamānaikarūpatvādbhavānāṁ tadeva tu kvacitsāvadhi kvacinniravadhīti viśeṣaḥ| sāvadhitvepi vyāpāraphalapravāhaprakarṣāpraka-(7)-rṣābhyāṁ viśeṣaḥ| dvitīyastu syādapi yadi teṣāṁ yaugapadyaṁ bhavet| kramiṇastu sahakāriṇa ityuktam| sahakārisahitaḥ svabhāvena karotīti vaktari jā-(8)-ta naṣṭa eva karotu ityuttaraprasaṅgo nirargalaśaiśavasyetyalamanena| tasmātkāryasya sa eva kālaḥ kāraṇasya sacānyaśceti sambandhikālāpekṣayā pūrvakālatā vyavahā-(9)-raḥ| etadapi sahakārisākalyaviśeṣaṇakaraṇanirākaraṇādalīkaṁ parikalpanamanalpaṁ śalyacakrasātabhājanam deśabhedena tu kartṛtvākartṛtvamupalabdhaṁ ānyākṣepaṁ upayanātmahasitasahacarañca na virodhatvādi (2) sanamāpannaḥ| tenaiva sahakāreṇa tasyaiva tadaiva tathaiva sambaddhatvamasambaddhatvaṁ ca pūrvāparavelāyāmaniścita “astu tarhi tasyaiva tenaiva sahakāriṇa sahasambandho'sambandhaśceti (3) virodhaḥ na vikalpānupapatteḥ| tathāhi sambandhinaḥ sambandhyantare svābhāvasvābhāvyaṁ vā virudhyeta, abhāva pratiyogitvaṁ vā, tadaiveti sahitaṁ vā, tatrai vati (4) sahitaṁ vā, ubhayasahitaṁ vā, tathaiveti sahitaṁ vā ? vikalpakrameṇa (1) taduddharaṇavaktavyañcācakṣitamālocanīyam| (5) tathāhiśaśaśṛṁgasya|
ñca ye yogyamayogyaścāpi jāyate||
nityaṁ yogyasvabhāvasya tadvikalpavirodhataḥ|
iti tyogyatāvācyaḥ svabhāvo'sya nirupcyatām|
vibhāgayogajāti-(6)-bhiḥ kimanyairgamanādibhiḥ|
teṣu satyepi tasyeti, sambandhasyāprasiddhitaḥ||
yuktaḥ svabhāvabhedo'yaṁ tatpratikṣaṇajanminām|
iti nyāyāt yadi saṁsargayo-(7)-gyaḥ svabhāvo bījasya nijo nāpaiti kadācana tadā svābhāvasvabhāvavatvamatṛṇahetuṁ kathamuktaṁ nānyat karmma iti| śeṣaṁ tu phalguvarjitaṁ anargalabālatvasyetyādi (1) tamālokasya| atha kādācitkaṁ tadrūpaṁ tadeva nirūpyatāṁ nibandhanaṁ ............... dipi yaḥ kimadhikeneti dhūrtatvena|
‘iti anvayamukhena kṣaṇikatvānumānanirākṛtasya nirākaraṇam| ’
vyatirekabhāvādinirṇayaḥ
dvitīyo'dhyāyaḥ
prasaṁgaviparyayarahasyaṁ.....pūrvaparyavasthi (ta).....vipakṣādakṣaṇikā vyāyāvṛttaṁ prāptaṁ varṇanam| adhikaśca tatrāśrayahetudṛṣṭāntasi (1) ddhau-pramāṇābhāvaḥ, avastuni pramāṇābhāvavṛtteḥ, pramāṇa pravṛttāvalīkatvānupapatteḥ| evaṁ tarhi avyavahāre svavacanavirodha iti cet-tat kiṁ svavacanavirodhenateṣupramāṇamupadarśi-(2)-taṁ bhavet vyavahāraniṣedhavyavahāropi khaṇḍitaḥ syāt| aprāmāṇiko vyavahāro'vaśyaṁ svīkarttavya iti vā bhavet|
nādyaḥ-nahi virodhasahasreṇāpi sthire tasyakramādivira-(3)-he vā śaśaśṛṅge vā pratyakṣaṁ anumānaṁ vā upadarśayituṁ śakyaṁ tathātve vā kṛtaṁ bhautakalahena| dvitīyastu iṣyata eva pramāṇikaiḥ| avacanameva tarhi prāptaṁ kiṁ kurmo yatra vaca-(4)-naṁ sarvathaivānupannaṁ tatrāvacanameva śreyaḥ, tvamapi paribhāvaya tāvat| niṣprāmāṇike'rthe mūkavāvadūkayoḥ kataraḥ śreyān pramāṇika iti|
evaṁ viduṣāpi bhavatā na mūkībhūya (5) sthitaṁ apitu vyavahāraḥ pratiṣiddha evāsatīti cet satyaṁ-yathā aprāmāṇikaḥ svavacanaviruddho'rtho mā prasāṅkṣīditi manyamānena tvayi yo'prāmāṇika-(6)-evāsati vyavahāraḥ svīkṛtastathāsmābhirapi pramāṇacintāyā aprāmāṇiko vyavahāro mā prasāṅkṣīditi manyamānairaprāmāṇika eva svavacanavi-(7)-rodhaḥ svīkriyate| yadi tūbhayatrāpi bhavānsamānadṛṣṭiḥ syādasmābhirapi tadā na kiñciducyata iti|” tṛtīye tvapramāṇikaścāpyavaśyasvīkartavyaśceti kasyeyamājñā iti bhavāneva (8) praṣṭavyaḥ| vyavahārasya sudṛḍhanirūḍhatvāditi cet-aprāmāṇikaśca dṛḍhanirūḍhaśceti vyāghātaḥ| kathañcidapi vyavasthitatvāditi cet-aprāmāṇika(9) ścennakathañcidapi vyavatiṣṭhate-prāmāṇikādivattadevocyatāmitivāde vyavasthā| ekameva jalpavitaṇḍayostu pramāṇapraśnamātravyavasyate svavacanavyāghātaḥ| tatra (10) pramāṇenottaramaśakyam ca, apramāṇena tūttare svavacanenaiva bhaṅgaḥ, madukteṣu praśnādiṣu pramāṇaṁ nāstīti svayameva svīkārāt anuttare tu aprati bhaiveti| yadi ca vyavahārasvīkāre virodhaparihāraḥ syāt asau svīkriyetāpi na tvevaṁ-na khalu sakalavyavahārābhājanañca tanniṣedhabhājanaṁ veti parasparamavirodhi(tam(2)cet) iti pareṇoktaṁ tadetatsakalamasaṅgatam-svavāgvādhābodhanayā hi vyāpakānupalambhāśrayādyasiddhimudbhāvayato'doṣodbhāvanaṁ nāma nigrahasthānaṁ utthāpyate| (3) kathamiti cet-ucyate|
āśrayadṛṣṭāntādau pramāṇābhāva iti sādhyamadhyavasitam| avastuni pramāṇāpravṛtteriti heturāveditaḥ| pramāṇapravṛttāvalīkatvānupa(4)patteriti svābhiprāyeṇa upapattiḥ pratipāditā tathā cāśraye'vaṣṭambhakapratipanne pramāṇena pramāṇāpravṛttilakṣaṇadharmasya dharmidharmmatvāvarodhe ca niṣpa-(5)-nne kathaṁ nāśrayādyasiddhibodhaḥ|
atha nāstyeva asiddhyādidoṣa parapramāṇasyāpyasiddhayā sādhanādau na sannidhānaṁ labdhavyamityāpātam| tathā ca tatpramā(6) ṇamevāpavādadaridratvāt| tataśca yattvayādūṣaṇamuktaṁ tatra dūṣaṇamiti adoṣodbhāvanaṁ nāma nigrahasthānamatastayorekataravādinirākaraṇāntā paryavasāna (7) mānītaivakatheti kiṁ paraṁ nirarthakavikalpatrayeṇa bhavitavyam| tathā hi kiṁ pramāṇamupadarśitaṁ bhavediti pramāṇamevāpadarśitaṁ nirdoṣatā visphuraṇāt svasādhanasya paroktāva-(8)-dyasya svavacanavicalanā bhrāntatvāt| avyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahārakhaṇḍanāpi svavāgbādhitavyavahārapratiṣedhasannidhānāyakā vastudharmmidharmasya ca pramāṇatvāt prativādinaḥ na (9) ca vyavahāraniṣedhavyavahāraheturapahastito haste’nyastaśca vyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahāra iti hṛdayaṅgamaṁ janaṅgamasyāpi vyāpakānupalambhena vyāpyābhāvavyavahāraṁ vyavahārataḥ sudūramapakṛṣṭaprāmāṇikavyavahārāvaśyamaṅgīkaraṇam|
yatpunaruktaṁ nahi virodhasahastreṇāpītyādi tadapi svavacanavirodhānuruddhamavadhāryam| nitye'vastuni pramāṇamupadarśayitu-(2) maśakyaṁ pratyakṣamanumānamiti kiṁ tvayā pratipannaṁ apratipannaṁ vā| pratipattirapi kiṁ pramāṇena apramāṇena vā| pramāṇena pratipatrau svavacanavyāghātaḥ| apramāṇena tu pratipattiraprāmā(3)ṇikasyaiveti mahatī vikṛtiḥ| na cāyaṁ bhautakalaha pramāṇasyavyāpakānupalambhasyaṁ darśitatvāt| dvitīyastviṣyata iti cāntarbhūtvā bhāsate janaḥ prāmāṇikaśceti avastuni vyavahāra-(4)-pratiṣedhavyavahārakhaṇḍanā kutaścetibruvantaḥ eva viśiṣṭa viṣayavyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahārakhaṇḍenāśabdenaiva tadviṣayapramāṇāpravṛtyā tadviṣayatvamuktasādhyasya duḥsamādhānam| avastuni (5) vyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahārakhaṇḍanāśabdavācyavyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahārapratiṣedhasamādhāne vā svavāgbādhā sannidhānaṁ āpadyante| prakṛtavādanidhanāvadyakaramiti kṛtārtho'nu-(6)-palambhavādī niyatavyastatvāt prativādinaḥ| ‘kiṁ kumo yatra vacanaṁ sarvathaivetyādi’ yaduktaṁ tadapi svavacanaviruddhamanuruddhamanubaddhaṁ anupravartate| etadbhayādabhagatau vā kiñcidapratibhā-(7)-vānubhāskaraprabhāvānābhibhavabhūmirmavyasthāpīti nitarāṁ nistīrṇavyasanāntarovādī| tathāhi vyāpakānupalambhe punaḥ samutthāpyante prativādinī dūṣaṇā duṣkare'bhāṣaṇabhāvabhājibhūte parāja-(8)-yabhūmirapratibhābhāvataḥ prabhevabhāsvataḥsādhujananiveśitaṁ sādhanaṁ prasādhanamevodyotayatīti labdha eva kathāvadhiḥ|
svavāgābādhato vimyat vibhyacca pratibhākṣayāt|
abruvan avibruvan (9) vāpi vādī bhavati bhartsitaḥ||
yatpunaḥ svabhāṣābhaṅgibhirasaṅgatābhiraṅgīkaroti vyavahāraṁ na coktāvadyaṁ śrutisabhyaḥ praspandaṁ girāmityudbhaṇati| satyaṁ yathā'prāmāṇikaḥ svavacanavi(10)ruddho'rtha’ ityādi tadapi śūnyasaṁśanaṁ praṁsanāpātram| svavacanaviraudhaviruddhatayaiva nātiprasakto vyavahārapratiṣedhavyavahāraḥ na punaḥ sa tathābhūto mā bhūdityayaṁ vyavahāro'smākamanumataḥ kintarhi tadvyāpakavirahāt vyāpyaviraho vibhāgataḥ pramāṇānugataśca vyāpyavyāpakabhāvasvapramāṇasiddhatvāt tadvirahitasya cāvastusato dharmmiṇaḥ pratipannatvāt(2) asato'tyadhikaraṇādivivakṣārūḍhakārakakalāsaṁkrāntakalevaratvātkathamaparathā sthūlaskhalitasvavacanabādhāvāruddhā vṛthānyāyavinmānino naiyāyikāḥ svavacanabādhehi svavacanaṁpramāṇaṁ bādhakaṁ ḍhaukitam| ataḥ kathamayamaprāmāṇikaḥ kathita iti ślathaya śūnyagranthigranthanārthitvam| tathā ca aprāmāṇikaḥ svavacanabādho'bhyupagamyayamānopi tvayā svavāgbādhatvaṁ na jahāti nānumānaṁ pramāṇamiti-(4)-vit yadi tvabhyupagamādevādoṣatvamevamanyatrāpi astu avastuviṣaye'siddhatvamabhyu pagacchāma iti vayamapi vadiṣyāmaḥ utpattyāpi jalpavitaṇḍe'pi kathyata iti tatpakṣāpekṣayā (5) vivakṣitodoṣaḥ kṣipyate|
pakṣādiṣupramāṇapraśnamātrapravṛttasyetyādi,
pramāṇaṁ pṛcchatā tena jalpakena jayātmanā|
avastvācārasamārabdhaṁ pṛṣṭaṁ tacca na siddhyati||
vikalpena tu tatsiddhau (6) praśnapraṇayaṇe kṛte|
kṛtāvakāśo hetuḥsyāt maulaḥ sādhuḥ vijṛmbhitaḥ||
avastudharmī kutaḥ pramāṇāt prasiddhamiti bruvanneva avastudharminiṣṭhapramāṇapraśnaḥ tadasiddhau pramāṇataḥ (7) prāptānavakāśaḥ kāśatalalavaladhīyāniti kathaṁ na svavacanapratihataḥ| tathāhi viśeṣaviṣayapramāṇapraśnāt viśeṣaḥ siddhaḥ tadasiddhau tadviṣayavimarśāyogāt| siddhyabhyupagamevā ye-(8)-naiva vacasā paramacarodhvamadhurastenaiva svapakṣaṁ kṣiṇotīti kṣīṇaḥ kathaṁjalpavitaṇḍayorapi svavacanavyādhātaḥ| tadevaṁ bauddhena vyāpakānupalamme vyāpyābhāvārthamupanyaste kasyā-(9)mapi svavāgjarjarit jayo jāyate| na bhāṣate cet apratibhāṁ bhūribhūmimābhajatīti kṛtaṁ kāyavratena sabinaiva nyāyena avastvapi dharmisvānurūpadha-(10)-rmāpekṣayā svānurūpanirūpaṇaniṣṭhitaniḥ śeṣanijadharmaviṣaya iti abhyupagamyatām| ayaṁ sabhyāḥ tathāhi jīvati śarīre kṣetrajña saṁjñā upameyameyajñāpanāṅga prāmāṇadimatvaṁ nyastam| kevalavyatirekakīrtitavikramaḥ śrāvaṇatvasamaṁ mābhūditi sapakṣe tara syādeva vyāvṛttamiti varṇanīyatāsapakṣe(2)-satvamasyāpadyateti mṛṣodyaṁ vidyoteta| kevalavyatirekatvamasyeti pramuṣitamanḥparitoṣatayā sapakṣasyāvidyamānatvāt| tasminnasya sattvamaśastamupanyastamapahastanīyamitice-(3)-tayamānaḥ|
kiṁ sadbhāva bhaṁgenāsadbhūte prāṇādimattvasya sapakṣe sadbhāvavipakṣaṁ lakṣayati na cettarhi sadbhāvāsadbhāvaniṣedhavyavahāropi niṣedhavyavahāra eveti nivṛttiḥ kiṁ niṣidhyate| prā-(4)-ṇādimattvaṁ sapakṣasya vidyamānattvāt| na nivṛttamapādānatvasyābhāvāditi| sa eṣa vyavahāro naiyāyikasya vyatirekihetupratihatipratyūhananidāno dīpyate| na bauddhaprārabdhavirodhānurodhā-(5)-danubaddha iti bhaṇa guṇamayamanoharanītiṁ pramāṇapraharaṇasya kāñcit| yayā sapakṣo vikṣobhitavipakṣaprasaraḥ prekṣyairūpalakṣyate siddhadharmitayā tadāśritaścāyamavidyamā-(6) nattvaṁ nāma pakṣadharmatādhyastaṁ syāt| syāccāsyāpyanvayādyanuśaraṇamaṇīyasā'pyaṁśitvaramaṇīyaṁ yadavidyamānaṁ na tacchaktisamākhyātakāranibandhanasuvarṇādipadaprāsāda-(7) dhavaladakṣam, tadyathāntarikṣabalakṣajalajajālam| akālajaladharadhīradhvānaṁ nedānīṁ vyāyanītinipuṇaprasādhyamārabdhaprameyabodhopāyamanapāyamāpadeṣā'bhāvaprameyadarśamu-(8)-tkarṣitaroṣā parāpatati| asmādavismayaveśmāpraviśya praguṇopāyaṁ mānapratipīpadaḥ prasādhakaṁ pramāṇamabhāvaprameyasya vikalpamanalpābhāvavyavahāraparibhāvitasāma-(9) rthyamanarthakakadarthanaṁ kathākathācchādanena kiṁ tarayati prastutavyatirekakramam|
yātānayāto mārgo'yaṁ hetukānāmanekadhā|
sudhāmohavyapohena dehāsyeha samīkṣatā|
īrṣyāro-(10) ṣakathāpakṣe prekṣaprākṣālanakṣamaḥ|
kṣaṇakṣapyatvasatpakṣe vipakṣastveṣa lakṣyatām||
evaṁ prameyatvamapi sakalakālakalāpavyāpisvabhāvaṁ śāśvatatvamanusaṁdhāya (sādhya sā) dhanau dharmiṇi kevalānvayamanumanyamānaṁ amunā (nyāyena) nā (na) yena nirvvahati|
nanu cādhunā pi na dhunāti vākyaṁ svaparaparāmarśasāmyamasapakṣanyāyasya nyāse viśeṣaṇaṁ manasi ha prāptakālamavā(2) lasya pramāṇavyāpārasparśanena tatra kama bhāṇīt guṇīguṇaḥ bahubādhāvidhopi tarkopaniṣadanavadyavidyācāryakīrti(dharmakīrti) kīrtipramāṇavyāpāraparipālanamiha nidānaṁ mudaḥ prāmāṇikam (3) asti ca abhāvavibhāvanāvibhuḥ prabhutapramāṇavyāpāraḥ pīrasphuṭā pi paṭubhirapi nāraṭitaḥ pratyarthijanābhyarthanayā niḥpramathanaṁ kathyate|
rūpābhāvādabhāvasya śabdorūpābhidhāyinaḥ| (4)
na śakyā eva siddhāste vyavacchedasya vācakāḥ||
abhāvapramāṇavedyo'bhāva iti bhaṭṭabhāvamabhibhūya viśeṣaṇaviśeṣyabhāvabhāvasannikṛṣṭābhāvamakṣajapratyaya-(5)-pratyājyaṁ taccāsyākṣapā damatam| tatparicchinatti tato'nyadvyavacchinatti tṛtīyaprakārābhāvañca sūcayatītyekapramāṇavyāpāra eṣa iti narasiṁha siṁhāsanārūḍha prau-(6)- ḍhaprāmāṇikacakracūḍāmaṇivacanaratnaṁ yatsataḥ śrūyatām|
atra hi prasaṅgaviparyayanirvāheṇa pūrvāparāvasthayorvyavasthāpito vastubhedaḥ sa evānityatā śabdavācyatā (7) tathā ca svabhāvādavasthyamanityatāṁ vrūma iti vacanam| sa cāntaraṁ prāgabhāvaṁ pradhvaṁsaṁ ca sāmākhyāto vastubhedaḥ prasiddhyati yena pramāṇena kṣaṇaparyavasānabhajanabhāvena kṣaṇa-(8)-bhaṅgabhāṣayā bhaṇitaḥ tenaiva tadviparītamapi nityatvamakṣaṇikatvaṁ ca siddhipaddhatimadhyārūḍhaṁ jāyate| tasya paricchidyamānādanarthāntaratve tattvena vilokane syādata-(9)-tve tataḥ pṛthagavasthānavyavasthānamamunaiva pramāṇena paricchindatā tṛtīyaprakārāpakāraśca kalitaḥ| tatpunaḥ pramāṇamācāryapādairdarśitam| antyakṣaṇadarśināṁ niścayāditi pratyakṣam| tathā-
kvacittadaparijñānaṁ sadṛśāparasaṁbhavāt|
bhrānterapaśyato bhedaṁ māyāgolakabhedavat||
tathā hyaliṅgamābālamasaṁśliṣṭottarodayam|
paśyan paricchinattyeva dīpādināśinaṁ janaḥ||
tathā sarva hi pradeśamarthāntaraṁ adhvānaviviktamupalabdhavataḥ sa yena yena asāreṇa tadasāraṇatāṁ tato bhedamabhilapantī smṛtirūtpannā pratyakṣabalenetyā-(3)-dinā tatra tatra saśūnyaṁ vacaḥ tadihāpi nityatvamanityatāgrāhipramāṇena svapremayādvahirbhāvabhāgismaraṇajanadvāreṇa ātmavyāpāraṁ vyavahāratathatā'vatāritaniścayaṁ vipaścitaḥ pa-(4)ritaḥ paritoṣayato yathā salilaṁ salilajasya nidānamadīnamānasena pramāṇasanāthena sthāpayitvā salilasarojabījasvabhāvamabibhrato'bhūto na bhrājate bhāvato bhāvo bārijanye (5)-ti kāraṇābhāvena kāryamasaditi pratipipādayiṣā paravaśasyākāśadeśe pi ya śabdaprayogo rogamiva bhāvamaspṛśan abhāvābhidhāyī nāśaṅakya eva sadbhāvavibhāvakṛt-(6)-na cāpramāṇapūrvakaḥ svayamapramāṇamapi smaraṇasamarthitapadārthasārthavadayamapipramāṇapraṇīta evāṅgīkaraṇīyaḥ| tathā suprasūtaḥ svannarūnna-(7)-tanītinimnenāmnoto yenaiva mānena manasvinā satā tenaiva bandhyāsūnuśabdo viniveśitaḥ nāśaṁkā taṅkena tarkate bhāvacanopamiti balābalambīvyavahā-(8)-ro'mbudasaṁvṛtadigantare vā pi pramāṇayitavyo nāmānyathā prasthānaṁ paripanthividhirūpeṇa tu pramāṇapraṇayānusaraṇakāraṇako'yamakāṇḍacaṇḍaḥ kolāhalo (9) lokālokamākramatīti kimatra kurmaḥ|
tadeva,
nityaṁ nāsti na vā pratītiviṣayaṁ tenāśrayāsiddhatā,
hetoḥ svānubhavasya cākṣatirataḥ kṣiptaḥ svapakṣo'pi ca|
śūnyaṁ ca dvitayena sidhyati na vā (10) sattāpi sattā yathā,
no nityena virodhasiddhirasatā śakyā kramāderapi||

atrāmī evaṁ paryananujyante,
dharmasya kasyacidavastuni mānasiddhā,
bādhā vidhivyavahṛtiḥ kimihāsti no vā|
kvāpyasti cetkathamiyanti na dūṣaṇāni,
nāstyeva cet svavacanapratirodhasiddhiḥ||
tasmādvaidharmyadṛṣṭānte neṣṭo-(2)'vaśyamihāśrayaḥ|
tadabhāve ca tanneti vacanādapi tadgatiḥ||
tattu anādi vāsanodbhutavikalpapariniṣṭhataḥ|
śabdārthastrividho dharmī bhāvābhāvobhayāśrayaḥ
tasminbhāvā(4)nupādāne sādhye 'syānupalambhanam||
tathā heturna tasyaivābhāvaḥ śabdaprayogataḥ
asaṁkhyāto hi viṣayaḥ sarvabhāvadharmmanivṛttīnāṁ vyavahārāyābhāvānurūpadharmavi-(4)-dhīnāṁ sarvopāravyāvirahalakṣaṇābhāvo bhāvayitavyo yathoktaprakramaprasādhitasamastapramāṇavyāpāratayā pramāṇikajanasamāśvāsaviśvambharābhūtaḥ tathā (5) na sapakṣo'sapakṣaḥ tato'nyastadviruddhastadabhāvaścetyapi paramasutarāmanayā rītyāgatamānuṣaṅgikam| prastute punarupadiśāmaḥ|
yadi ca vyāvahārasvīkāre virodho parihāraḥ syāt (asau svīkriyetāpi, na tvevam), na khalu sakalavyavahārābhājanañca tanniṣedhavyavahārabhājanañceti vacanaṁ parasparamavirodhīti,-yaduktaṁ tadvālenāpi durabhila(7)pam| abhāvo hi dharmī svānurūpapramāṇavyāpārānusārī syātte pratyayapratiṣṭhāpitaḥ svasminnasaṁbhāvinā ca bhāvadharmeṇa vimuhyamāno vyāpakānupalambhena sambhā-(8) vitaḥ| tatkimucyate na khalu sakalavyavahārābhājanañcetyādi avastuno'vastusamucitadharmavidhivyavahāragocaratayāpīṣyata eveti nābhyupagaṇa eva do-(9)-ṣāyeti śeṣa prabandho'pi niḥsāratayā'dambhārambhāstambhasambhāvanāṁ bibharti| bandhyāsutaśabdena ca svabhāva evocyate ityuktam| tatastadanubandhane prabandho bandhya(10)tvaṁ pratisaṁvidhātavyam| yatpunaruktam kiṁ vaktṛttvavivaktasyāvastuno niyameno pālambhāt| āhosvidvastu tadviviktasyā-(vaktṛtvasya)-nupalambhāditi tadapi pātayitvā vasuṁtata vadanātītamitivat bhautavacanasvarucigocaraḥ| carācaravipaścitāmiti ciraṁ cintanīyaṁ cetanena| tathāhi niyatarūpāt bhavabhāvitabhāvābhāvavidhipratiṣedhavikalpapramāṇavyā (2)pāraparicayādyathā paryanvasitaṁ tathā sthāpitameva prāgiti susthatā bhāvataiva stheyā| tasmāt pramāṇameva sīmā viṁdhipratiṣedhāvyavasāyaniyamasyetyupasaṁhāro bhāva-(3)-tkaḥ sarvasmai svadate nirvyūḍhaśca yaḥ punarvikalpamātramādāya asatkhyātiranyathākhyāti ritivā vicāraprakrama vaso'pi na prakṛtānurūpaḥ niyatānubhavo hi vika-(4)lpānāṁ pravartayitā|
sukhaduḥkhādibhedaśca teṣāmeva viśeṣataḥ|
tasyā eva yathābuddhermāndyapāṭavasaṁśrayāḥ||
iti nyayādavidyānubhavavāsanāsanāthavikalpajālama (5) nāhatamūlamiti| na ca tāvataiva vāsanāta eva nikhilalīlādijananamastviti svasthaṁ manaso vacanamucitam, jñānajo jñānahetuśca vāsaneti, arthajo (6)'rthahetuścetyupalakṣaṇāt kinnākhyāyate| atha prasādhakapramāṇasambhavādityuttaramatrāpi samānam| pramāṇastu na pañjaritabhāvāvikalpajāla-(7)-manalasāḥ paśyantaḥ śabdayoniḥ vikalpo vikalpayoniśca śabda iti saṁketavyavahārakālamilitānāvilavikalpajāladurjaṭitavidhipratiṣedhavaddhacakṣubandhutvā(8)sta (tta) tvānusāriṇaḥ sarve parinirvṛtāḥ kimaparaṁ parāmarśaprasaraste taniṣyati|
eka pratyavamarśākhye jñāne ekatra hi sthitaḥ||
prapattā tadataddhetūrthān vibhajate svayam(9)
tadbuddhivartino bhāvān bhāto hetutayā dhiyaḥ||
aheturūpavikalānekarūpāniva svayam|
bhedena prati pyetetyuktirbhede niyujyate||
iti sakala puroktāvadya pra-(10)-cchādanapūrvaikasaṅketakaraṇanyāyaḥ| ekapratyavamūlajanananidānamapi darśitaḥ|
eka pratyavamarśārthajñānādyekārthasādhane|
bhede'pi niyatāḥ kecit svabhāvenendriyādivat||
ityetena pratisandhānamapi sabāhyābhyantarabhāvayoratadvyāvṛttaikārthakriyākāritvalakṣaṇaikatvaviṣayaṁ tadevaṁ bandhyāsutaśabdenātyantābhāva ucyate| (2) tatproktanyāyasamānatvāt|
śiraso'vayavā nimnā vṛddhikāṭhinyavarjitāḥ|
śaśaśṛṁgādirūpeṇa so'tyantābhāva iṣyate||
tadvadidamapi vaditavyam-
vandhyāyā udaraṁ nimnaṁ vṛddhi-(3)-kāṭhinyavarjitam|
vandhyāsutādirūpeṇa so'tyantābhāva ucyate||
yādṛśyabhāvavādena tādṛśīvāsanāvaśāt|
buddhirutpadyate tatra nānyo'syāpratītatā||
yādṛśī śemuṣī paramā (4)rthastadabhāvavāde tādṛśī cedākāraviśeṣaśālinī, avidyānubhavavāsanāvāde tadā svasvabhāvamadhyamagnatayā parasparaparicayacyuticarcāṁ cārūccāryate| pratiniyatatvārū-(5)-patvādeva cābhāvākāra niścayasya vyavahārāṅgatā| yathā saṁsāraḥ tathā na tadabhāvalakṣaṇo mokṣaḥ praṇidhātā sātānubhavanabhavanamiti bhavyavyavahāriṇāṁ pa-(6)-ddhatiranurudhyatām|
yaccoktam-ghaṭastāvatsvābhāvavirahasvabhāvaḥ pramāṇasiddhatādrūpyeṇa kadācidapyanupalambhāt| etāvataiva tadabhāvo'pi ghātaviraharūpaḥ siddha iti (7) ceta na ghaṭābhāvasya tadabhāvavirahasvabhāvatvānabhyupagamāt| na cānyasvabhāvepramāṇagocare tadanyopi siddhaḥ syādatiprasaṅgāt| evaṁ bhūtāveva ghaṭatadabhāvau (8) yadekasya paricchittirevāparasya vyavacchittiriticeta| na cānyasya svabhāve ghaṭavat ghaṭābhāvasyāpi prāmāṇikatvānabhyupagame svabhāvādanavakāśāt pramāṇasiddhevahi (9) svābhāvāvalambanaṁ na tu svabhāvavādāvalambane naiva vastusthitiriti bhavatāmevāyaṁ tatra tatra jayadundubhiriti tadapi bhagnagrahavādimukhasukhavādanaṁ bhavato na te svabhāvālambanamavalambanavāsināpyetatkṛtam ghaṭaḥ paricchetavyo na vā ādye sāvadharaṇo'nyathā vā, ghaṭa evāyaṁ nānyathā sthāpanīya iti cetparicchedaḥ tarhi karṣita eva pramāṇadvayāvegaḥ (2) atha na tathā tathāpi ghaṭaḥ paricchinno paṭa iti tadarthī nopasarpyedantikamasya na kim| taduktaṁ na hyayamanalaṁ paśyan analameva paśyati| iti kathaṁ yena salilārthī tatra na pravartete tyādi| tasmātprati-(3)-niyatapadārthānubhava evānvayavyatirekakalpanasya bījamityucyate| na tu svabhāvālambanavyavadhibodhānurodhaḥ|
ekopalambhānubhavādidaṁ nopalabhe iti|
buddherupalabhe veti (4) kalpikāyāḥ samudbhavaḥ||
eṣaiva tatra sāmagrī yadutaikopalambhanāt|
anyayavyatirekābhyāṁ vikalpayugalaṁ bhavet||
dṛṣṭatvādevameveti niḥśaṁkita samādhayaḥ|
paroktivitathālāpairna (5) śakyante'pabādhitum||
ghaṭavadabhāve'pi svena rūpeṇa vidhirnāstīti bhaṇito nābhāvaḥ syādapi tu parasparābhāvavān| bhāva eveti| bhāva parasparābhāvabhaṅgaṁ vā bhavati vi-(6)śvambharāsambhāvye veti| bhavata eva dṛṣṭyā niṣṭaṅikatamidamanumatamasmākam| yādṛśastu parasparapratiṣedhasvabhāvastādṛśo bhāvagrāhiṇaiṣa bhāvaṁ niyamavantaṁ bhāvayatā (7) pratīta eveti kimatra chadmaneti bhaṇāmaḥ kalpanānirṇītameva trairūpyamityapi pāpīyaḥ vyāptyādau tṛtīyaprakārābhāvavirodhasādhakaprasaṅgādeḥ pramāṇasya praṇītatvāt| (8) na kevalakalpanopālambhatrayamabhyastasabhyanīterjanasya tasmātpramāṇamūlākalpanāpi smaraṇavatsamyagliṅgarūpāṇāṁ paryāptā| alamaphalamūlākalpanābhistasmātpra-(8)-māṇopapannarūpacayatvāt sthitametat|

yataścārthakriyāsamarthaṁ yat tasmādakṣaṇiko amantaḥ (asammataḥ)| arthakriyāyāṁ kramayaugapadyavirodhāt| tadevaṁ kramayaugapadyābhāva eva bādhakaṁ pramāṇamupadarśitam vināśasya svaparahetutvaṁ parikarabandha eva aitenaitadapinirākṛtam|
yaduktamanena astu, tarhi dhruvabhāgitvena vināśasyāhetu katvasiddhekṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ na vikalpānupapatreḥ| taddhi tādātmyaṁ vā (2) nirupākhyatvaṁ vā tatkāryatvaṁ vā abhāvatvameveti vā sthitā vikalpā niṣedhyaniṣedhakayorekatvānupapatteḥ| nādyaḥ-upapattau vā viśvasya vaiśvarūpyānupapatteḥ|
nanu kālāntare (3)'rthakriyāṁ pratyaśaktirevāsya, nāstitā sā ca kālāntare samarthetaratvabhāvatvameveti cet-nanvayameva kṣaṇabhaṅgaḥ tathā cāsiddhamevāsiddhena sādhayataḥ kaste pratimallaḥ| api ca deśā-(4)-ntarakālāntarānuṣaṅgiṇyasya nāstitā yadyayameva nūnamanakṣaramidamuktam, ‘yadayameva deśāntarakālantarānuṣaṅgīti| yadi vā svadeśakālavat kālāntaradeśāntarayorapi nāstitāna-(5) nuṣaṁge'stitvaprasaṁgaḥ| aśakteḥ kathamastu śakteḥ sattālakṣaṇatvāditi cet-atha ki kālāntarakāryaṁ prati svakāle'śaktirasattvam| kiṁvā svakāryamapi pratikālāntare'śaktirasatva-(6)-mādye svakāle'pyasatvaprasaṁgaḥ tadānīmapi tasya tādrūpyāt| kālāntarakāryapratyevametaditi cet kimayaṁ mantrapāṭhaḥ, nahi yo yatrāśakta sa tadape (7) kṣayā nāstīti vyavahriyate| na hi rāsabhāpekṣayā dhūmo jagati nāstīti tatkasya hetoḥ| nahyaśaktasya svarūpaṁ nivartate iti| dvitīye tu kālāntarādhārā śaktiḥ vā nā'śaktiḥ (8) kathaṁ tadātmikā| tadādhārā cet tadaivāsatvaprasaṁgaḥ ityādi phalavikalakalahalakalākaṭhorakolāhalavilasitam, hālikasyāpi hāsyaheturūpahāsitaṁ svamahimamaha(9)-nīyanītinikhilaniṣṭheva akṣikṣaṇakaṇakulinamamandaravispandasundaragirāṁ gīrvāṇagurugarimnāmārcāryāṇāmākarṇya vartanam| vināśakāraṇavicāraṇāyāṁ tathā(10) hi-
sadasatpakṣabhedena śabdārthānapavādibhiḥ||
vastveva cintyate hyatra pratibaddhaḥ phalodayaḥ
arthakriyāsamarthasya vicāraiḥ, kiṁ tadarthinām||
ṣaṇḍhasya rūpavairūpye kāminyā kiṁ parīkṣayā||
sa hi bhāvo'bhāvovā śabdārthaḥ puruṣārthaṁ yadi kiñciduparuṇaddhi samādadhāti vā yathābhini-(2)-veśaṁ tattvāt| tadā tadātvasamīhitasampādanāhetutāsabhyūhe samīhamānaḥ samānaḥ tadvastvadhiṣṭhānīkaroti vitānacakracalanapariśramasya| atrāyaṁ naḥ padārthaḥ (3) pratibaddha iti tataḥ prastute'pi vastunisvahastasthāpitaṁ nyāyī vihasto vahistokagopālāditaḥ| ko nāma nyāyanyāsamīdṛśamanalasaḥ samāśrayate| svahetuta eva te nimīlitavinaśvarasvabhāvo bhāvaḥ pratiniyatakālāyogaphalitaḥ prathamavaṁśaprabhavaprabhāvavanmudgaraguruprahārānehasi ghaṭakoṭiśakapālapatalamapahāya vilocanavicayenāpi (5) nirūpayatā vināśanāmno'rthasyāvalokanāt tathā ca|
dṛṣṭastāvadayaṁ ghaṭaḥ paripatan dṛṣṭastathā mudgaro,
dṛṣṭākarpaṭasaṁhatiḥ paramato'bhāvo (6) na dṛṣṭo'paraḥ|
tenā'bhāva iti śrutiḥ kva nihitā kiṁ vātra tatkāraṇam,
svādhīnā parighasya kevalamiyaṁ dṛṣṭā kapālāvaliḥ||
adṛṣṭameva ca niṣeghakaṁ manamaśanasvabhāvama-(7)-paraṁ parāmṛśya niṣedhyamapi avyavasāya ghaṭapaṭaparṇavākhyamaparatvena vyavatiṣṭhamānamāha niṣedhyaniṣedhakayorekatvānupapatteriti| nahi vināśe koṭiśakalaśaka-(8)pālavalayavyatirekiṇi vināśakahetuprahatajanmani niṣedhakatvasupathaṁ tena vā vighaṭanaṁ ghaṭa-paṭa parṇavāde.........pratyakṣīkāritaṁ yena tanniṣedhyaṁ tataśca bhedopa-(9)-labdherlabdhavyo na cānayoraikyaṁ vicārakrurakrakacakartittaṁ yattarhi yuktitulābhalatādikaṁ sakalalokalocanālocitasvasvabhāvavyavasthitayā'tiparasparasminnānupra-(10)-viṣṭamiti bheda upapattau viśvasya vaiśvarūpyāpalāpaprasavaprasaṅgaḥ, pramāṇasaṁsargamaṅgīkṛtavataḥḥ tadviparyaye kathaṁ bādhakaḥ
sarve bhāvāḥ svabhāvena svasvabhāvavyavasthiteḥ|
svabhāvaparabhāvābhyāṁ yasmādvyāvṛttibhāginaḥ|
tasmādyato yatorthānāṁ vyāvṛttistannibandhanāḥ
jātibhedā prakalpyante tadviśeṣāvagāhinā|| (2)
iti nyāyena svahetoḥ svarūpameva hi parasmāḥ danyarūpamutpattimāsannaṁ ātmānurūpapratibhāsamutpāditasvaparaviṣayaviṣayavidhipratiṣedhasmārtavikalpadvayadarśitavaśaṁ dala-(3)-pati dṛḍhadarppamapi samapyaita prasaṅgam| ....yathā śarkarānayāgnivalayarmmanarmmadādikaṁ hi nihitajanananibaṁdhanādhīnaniveśaveśamaśeṣasya śleṣayati hṛdaye parasparā-(4)-saṁkīrṇamarṇavāntamātmānamabhāvanāmānamapahastyāpi svarūpapratibhāsaprabhāvāt tadvadidamapi yadi pratipādayati| pratikālakalama vāptā niḥsaṁ(5)-saṁsargasaṁsargaḥ svargārgalagovargādikavastusvanidānadattadaśāvadhivibhratāvadhibhāvasvabhāvasambandhaṁ viparītāsamvandhabhārabhuvaṁbhavantaṁ hanta tadā kā te hāniḥ (6) śubhaśriyaḥ tadidamāyātamḥ-
bhāvaiḥ svabhāvasaṁsiddhā pṛthagātmavthavasthitiḥ|
svīkṛtairaparaṁ pīḍā vādināṁ mahatī hṛdi|
vinaśyatīti vināśaḥ kartari bahulaṁ (7) vacanāt ghañ kṛtvāha tat hetvantarau jananahetusamutpattitaḥ vinaśvaratvaḥ padārthaḥ prajñapyate| vinaśanaṁ vināśa ityabhisandhāya punarasamarthasamāsaṁ samāveśaya-(8)-ti| na bhāvo bhavatītyuktamabhāvo bhavatītyapītyādinā kriyāpratiṣedhamātraṁ kriyā iti tathaiva pramāṇa pravṛtteḥ| astvayaṁ āyuṣmān| bhāvaḥ| dhvaṁsena vidhvastasamastārtha-(9)-kriyā ityavocadvācaspati sa evānarthanyāyasya nyāyasya vyākhyātā ākhyātavyaḥ kimīdṛśamākhyā tava āsīt|
dhvaṁso vastuvidherbalāt parighavat yadvā yathā śarkarā,
bhāvo'sau tadavastha eva tu na yatkiñcitkarāstasya te||
vyāpārāviratistataḥ kṣaṇinaye tattvādavarndhya katham,
deśākāravadasya hetuniyataḥ (2) kālo'pi yatmānmataḥ||
‘pradhvaṁsena vināśajanmanimate tenāpi nāśāntaro-
tpāde nāśa parampareti vibhavedbhāvaḥ kadācinna saḥ|
na dhvaṁsādaparā nivṛttiriti (3) cedanyo'nyanāśaḥ katham,
tasmin vastuvilokanāditi na sannāśādṛśaḥ khyāpanāt||
‘yadi ca tasminsamati vastvadarśanāt dhvaṁsākhya vastunibṛttirucyate, tadā-
nāśo mudgara (4) eva vastu śakalānyevāthaveti mitrapādairuktaṁ prasaṅgataḥ vyavahartavyarupāyāstu nivṛtterdeśakālākārādhārā ca vāriṇānurodho vyavahāraka pratiniya-(5) tapratibhāsatadviviktārthāntaradarśanākhyānupalambhanaprabhava vikalpātalpaśāyitayā tena tucchasya kīdṛśaṁ janmetyādi galapallavaprayāsaḥ phale phala (6) ruhetaḥ|
tasmātpracyutimātrakaṁ vyavahṛteḥ pātraṁ prasajyāhvaya
bhūyo'rthasya virudhyate na tu janistasyeti ki hetunā|
rodhādeva sakṛnna tadvyavahṛtirhetu kṣayānnodayo|
rodhastātvika eva tāttvikamithaḥ svābhāvyabhaṅgasthiteḥ
tasmādyo ho samagrātmā hetuḥ sa svakāryamupārjayan naśvarabhāvālaṅkṛtamupārjayati niyatānehaskamasya punarapara(4) smānnivṛttidharmā svabhāvo na janmahetoriti|
nāśanaṁ janayitvānyaṁ sa hetustasya nāśakaḥ|
tameva naśvaraṁ bhāvaṁ janayedyadi kiṁ bhavet||
kṣaṇamapyanapekṣatve bhāvo bhāvasya neti cet
bhāvo hi sa tathābhūto'bhāve bhāvastathā katham||
tena ‘yasyā sāmagrayā yatkāryaṁ tattadariktānapekṣamiti sādhanārthaḥ tadirma ko nāma nānumanuta kārya mevatu vināśa iti| kenānurodhena vyavahartavyaṁ kiṁ tadvirahavatvāt kāryasya| nādyaḥ, sahakāriṣvapi tathā vyavahāraprasakteḥ| virahasvarūpānirukteścetyā (2) di| yathā mukhasukhamanabhimatārthamādāya dāridrayādyupetā dṛṣṭabalamiti durmanasthāya tandrāmandirasaṁmadaparispandakandalitamanoharaḥ manorājyaḥ niyatakālātmanā janma (3) janmavatpareṇa niveśito bisaprasūnādivaditi darśitaiva nirukti tāṁ punarapya kṣaṇasthitidharmatāṁ svabhāvaḥ| svahetoreva tathotpatteḥ paśyannapimandabuddhiḥ| saho-(4)-palambhena sarvadā tadbhāvasaṅgavipralabdho na vyavasyati sadṛśāparāparotpattiḥ| vipralabdho vā antyakṣaṇadarśanāḥ niścayān| paścādasyānupalabdhyā vā'sthiti (5) (ra) (pratipatteḥ)| niścayakāla iti| tadā anityatā vyavasthāpyate| kāryotpādanaśakteḥ kāraṇasvabhāvatve'pyadṛṣṭatatkāryakaraṇadarśane yadi-(6)....prasiddhatadbhāvasya kāryadarśanāt tatpratipattivat| ityevamativiśadavibhramabhrājisvābhiprāye'pi yaścaratā pratisapramāṇakaṁ prakaṭite kledamatidīnamudritaṁ (7) udayanasya pratyāspadaṁ udīkṣate-
nahi paṭo jāta ityukte tantavo naṣṭā iti kaścidvyavaharati paṭasyānatirekāttantṛmātrajanmani ca bhedāgrahādavyavahāra iti cet na tarhi vyava-(4)-hārābalambanamapi visabhāgasantatau tāvadvyavahārāvalambanamastīti cet naitadevaṁ yadi tantumāleva paṭanivṛttiḥ| tarhi kathaṁ tathāśrayastadātmako vā paṭaḥ prāk anyaivāsāviti cetanatāvajjā (7) tikṛtmanyatvamupalabhyate vyaktikṛtaṁ tu nādyāpi siddhayatītyādi yat sphaṭikākṛtasya maṭhasya hastavitastiparimitabhāgabhāvanātaḥ svaghaṭitasandhi-bandhanaghaṭavighaṭanaprakaṭanapaṭuranyatkaṭakapāṭavopi sphuṭaṁ sphurati|
kvacittadaparijñānaṁ sadṛśāparasambhavāt|
bhrānterapaśyato bhedaṁ māyāgolakabhedavat||
tathāhyaliṅgamāvālamasaṁśliṣṭottarodayam|
paśyan paricchinattyeva dīpādināśinaṁ janaḥ||
iti niyatabhāvābhāvavyavahāranibandhanapratyakṣādyanulambhasambhavādapi pragalbhagarvvaḥ pragalbhate, garbhāṁrbha-(3)-kopi kiṁ punaranyo dhīradhīko'ntyakovidaḥ vyaktikṛtaṁ ca sphaṭikapaṭapaṭalavilokane pratyakṣataḥ prekṣate prekṣaḥ na khalu sphuṭita eva sphuṭitaḥ eva vā sphuṭito na bha-(4)-vati iti vyavaharaṇajanyatvavyavaharaṇaṁ tattvavyāvṛttameva hi na tvaṁ etamarthamādāya darśitā vyāptiranityatayā kṛtakatvasya|
sattāmātrānubandhitvānnāśasyānityatā dhvaneḥ||
agne na cāntarotpattau bhavetkāṣṭhasya darśanam|
avināśātsa evāsya vināśa iti cetkatham||
anyo'nyasya vināśo'stu kāṣṭhaṁ kasmānna dṛśyate|
tatparigrahataścenna tenānāvaraṇaṁ yataḥ||
vināśasya vināśirtva syādutpattestataḥ punaḥ
kāṣṭhasya darśanaṁ hantṛdhāte caitrāpunarbhavaḥ||
yathācāpyevamiti cet (7) hanturnāmaraṇatvajataḥ
ananyatve vināśasya syānnāśaḥ kāṣṭhameva tu||
tasya sattvādahetutvaṁ nātī'nyo vidyate gatiḥ
aheṁtutvepi nāśasya nityatvādbhāvanāśayoḥ||(8)
sahabhāvaprasaṅgaśceda sato nityatā kutaḥ|
asatve'bhāvanāśitva prasaṅgopi na saṅgataḥ||
yasmādbhāvasya nāśena na vināśanamiṣyate|
naśyan bhāvo'parāpekṣa (9) iti tajjñāpanāya sā||
avasthā'heturuktāsyā bhedamāropya cetasā||
na bhāvo bhūto bhūtrāntarātbhartsanabhāgī bhāvyate|
tathābhūtasyaiva svayaṁbhūterityaparāpekṣadharmapratiṣedhārthaṁ tattsvabhāvajñāpanenārthāntarameva dharmiṇaṁ cetasā vibhajya tanmātrajijñāsāyāṁ svabhāva eva tathocyate| (2) tadetanmandabuddhayaḥ kvacittathā darśanāyopamātravipralabdhanāśaṁ guṇaṁ tasya bhāvamāropya sahetukamahetukaṁ vā'pratiṣṭhitaṁ taddvayābhāvacintayātmānamākalayanti|
svato-(3)-pi bhāve'bhāvasya vikalpaścedayaṁ samaḥ|
na tasya kiñcadbhavati na bhavatyeva kevalami|| tyādi
na bhāvo bhavatī tyādi nyāyanāthasya subhāṣitamukhopyapāpīyasā prabandhenākāla-(4) ku=ṭipaṭalenebāndhakāraprakhyaṁ dhānyaṁ dhī (vanepi vī) vivarddhayatyayamityanamanalamanalasavicāre vacanacarcayā| na ca pramāṇābhābo'ntyakṣaṇadarśināṁ niścayā (5)t sāvadhitve notpattereva śakalavalayavilokane vilokro na ghaṭamālokayati| na hi yo yatra kāle nāsti sa tatra dṛśyate| deśāntara ivānyadeśani-(6)-veśitadravyam| vyavahārarītiramaṇīyaśaraṇiranupalabdhirūpavisadṛśadaśāsya svabhāvabhābanābhaṇitaiva bhūriśaḥ| kārakahetuvyūhavyastyā vikhyāpitamanapekṣatvaṁ jñāpa-(7)-kāpekṣayā sāpekṣamevedaṁ| tatkiṁ bravīti vicārakavṛddhaḥ| raṇḍākaraṇḍapiṇḍitatantubhyaḥ kuvindanandakarapaṭṭha- sitātānavitānāvasthā sthavīyāṁsaṁ bhedamā-vibhrato'nubhūyagte paṭādivyapadeśaviṣayāḥ prāva (ra) ṇādikriyāviśeṣaśālino yadavasthāṁ dravyavṛddhiprāgalbhyagarvvaguravo gaṇyante pareṇa|
rūpādiśaktibhedānāmanākṣepeṇa vartate|
(2) tatsamānaphalā'hetu vyavacchede ghaṭaśrutiḥ||
bandhanādikriyānibanthano hi dhvanistanturiti tatsamudāyaviśeṣaṁ sampādya prāvarādyarthaṁ sāmarthyamatathāvidhasamudāyāntaravyavacchedena sa-(3)-marthanīyamarthanavaiḥ paṭa iti prakaṭitaḥ śabdaḥ|
taistantubhiriyaṁ śāṭīnyuttaraṁ kāryamucyate
tantusaṁskārasaṁbhūtaṁ naikakālaṁ kathaṁcana|
kāraṇāropataḥ kaścit, ekāpoddhārato'pivā
tantvākhyāṁ vartayetkārye darśayan nāśrayaṁ śrṛteḥ|
tantukāryo hi paṭa eva, tadānīṁ na tantavaḥ tantupratyayastu kāraṇasvarūpāropataḥ pūrvasmaraṇa-(5)-sāpekṣatvāt| ekaikāpohane vā lakṣyaikaikāpohe paṭī nāmāparo'sti tadevaṁ kāliko viśeṣaḥ samastavastustomaviṣayo viśeṣato'nyatve kathanīyaḥ| (6) kathamanyathā pratyabhijñāpadaikatvasiddhau tena tūṣṇīkṛtametat, api ca tantuvināśa sāmānyatastantuvirahasvabhāvo vā syādityādivicāravaśena ca kalitaḥ (7) vināśyasvarūpāsvarūpa kāraṇākāraṇatvameva bādhakaṁ sakalakalākalāpaprāptapradārthasārthasya sarvadā vināśanāmapadārthāntaraprādurbhāvabhāṣaṇe-(8)-bibhyata iva vināśapūrvakālapratijñāsamaparaparyālocanayā'pratinivṛttaṁ manyamānena uktameva kāṣṭhaṁ kāsmānnadṛśyata ityādi padārthāntarasyābhāvasaṁjñākaraṇaṁ vā, (9) lokavyavahārasammatyā vā, pramāṇapravṛtyā vā, maheśvarasamīhāhetuprahitaprabhāvādvā, ātmecchānucaratvādvā bhāvānāṁ bhāvānāṁ bhartsitaṁ sarvatra ca sudarśanaḥ samādhiriti kimayaṁ caurārcanamiva pracapalapadaspandasamandarpyamapasarpya| ‘tatkālasatvaṁ cettarhi tadabhāvo jāta ityādi bhāṣayā, tasmāt|
ahetutvādvināśasya svabhāvādanubandhitā|
sāpekṣāṇāṁ hi bhāvānāṁ nāvaśyambhāvinekṣyate||
bāhulyepihi taddhetorbhavetkvacidasambhavaḥ|
yadyapi ca kṣaṇāni vināśakāraṇakāraṇāni santi, teṣāmapi svapratyayādhīnasannidhitvānnāvaśyaṁ sannidhānamiti mahī-(3)-madhīdhārādiṣu kaścinna vinaśyedapi niyamānavadhāraṇameva hi vyabhicāracamatkāraścetasi vicāracakrasya| ata evāha-
etena vyabhicāritvamuktaṁ kāryāvyavasthiteḥ||
sarveṣāṁ nāśahetūnāṁ (4)hetusannāśavādinām||
tasmānnidhanavivandhanacaṇḍadaṇḍābhighātāgnisaṁyogāditaḥ samanantarabhagavatakapālāṅgārādivisadṛśavikāravīkṣaṇavelāyāmapi ghaṭakāṣṭhādi-(5) kaṁ vastu svabhāvata eva vinaśvaramutpannamiti na dṛśyate tadvastu aṁta eva vinaśvaratvarūpasya bināśasya vyāpakatvaṁ kṛtakatvaṁ pratyanapekṣatvādhruvabhāvitvena pratipādi (6)-tam| tasmāt|
bhavatyeva svabhāvataḥ|
yatra nāma bhavatyasmāt anyatrāpi svabhāvataḥ|
soyaṁ bhavan kvaciddraṣṭo'napekṣatvāt svabhāvata eva bhavati tathānyatrāpi svabhāva-(7)-viśeṣābhāvāt| iti vyāpakatvamuktamasyānyathākāramutthāpya dūṣayato na svahṛdayasyāpi paritoṣaḥ|
astu tarhi dhruvabhāvitvaṁ vyāpakatvamiti cet na atādātmyādatatkāra-(8)ṇatvāccetyādi, tādātmyaṁ tadekakāraṇasambhavaśca pratipādyate sma samanantarameva, na vā bhāvatvādabhāvo na kriyata iti kaścidāha| kiṁ tarhi prasajyaparyudāsovā'bhāva i-(9)-tyābālamālāpaḥ kartavyaścābhāvaḥ kataro'stu na tāvatprasajyaḥ kriyāpadena tatra nañaḥ sambandhāt kriyāpratiṣedhamātratvamekapramāṇavyāpārapratyayajñātatvādavidyāvaśena parāpekṣapratyanīkākāratvaṁ bhāvaparihārasvabhāvatvañca(jñānamiśrayati) jñānaśrīmiśratrāti kalpanā| siddhasyāsiddhaṁ vā pāratantryaṁ sambaṁdho rūpāśleṣaḥ tathā'paropi na pāramārthikaḥ (2) iti sambaṁdhaparīkṣāyāṁ khyāpitam| tena śeṣaprabandho vidhi eva dhīvidhūta iti tadaparaprabandhavidhūtaye yatāmahe| pratyabhijñākeśakuśakardalakāṇḍaprabhṛtau padārthe pradīpavadvi (3)cchinnapunaḥ prarūḍhe samapauḍhakatve'pi ghaṭasphaṭikapratyabhijñayā na bhidyate sambandhabhāvatvāt| samasvabhāvatvamasiddhamavabuddhaṁ viruddhadharmāsaṁsṛṣṭaviṣayatvena ghaṭasphaṭikaku-(4)-ṇḍakuṇḍalamaṇḍalamaṇḍanānusandhitvāndhānapi yo'dhikatvāt baddhvā pracyuta viracāyīrti cet, na-pratyabhijñā sāmathyametat| siddhā vāśrayato'nyo'nyasaṁśrayadoṣo (5)na doṣasahasreṇāpi saśakyaḥ saṁkocayituṁ pramāṇāntarañca śatamāsitvā'pi samāḥ samārthona kaścana prapañcayituṁ kṣaṇabharṅgaṁ saṅgatamānanā nivedi-(6)-taiva| na ca pramāṇanivṛttāvapi viprakṛṣṭaviṣaye tadbhāvavibhāvanā prabhuḥ prekṣaḥ|
abhinnavedanasyaikyaṁ yannaivaṁ tadvibhedavat|
siddhayedasādhanatve'sya na si-(7)-ddhaṁ bhedasādhanam|
bhinnābhaḥ sitaduḥkhādirabhinno buddhivedane|
abhinnābhe vibhinne cedbhedābhedau kimāśrayau|
tiraskṛtānāṁ paṭunāpyekadā'bhedadarśanāt|
pravāhe cittacaittānāṁ siddhā bhedavyavasthitiḥ||
iti ācāryavacanamavahartuṁ prabandhāntareṇa na śakyam, svaragītaphalocchvāsamaprāpta prāpyate
sādhugītaṁ suṣṭugītaṁ labdhaṁ (9) gītasya te phalam|
goputrā iva gāyanti sāmo dātumayaiḥ svaraiḥ||
etenaitadapi piṣṭamaniṣṭam vivādādhyāsito bhāvaḥ kālabhedepi na bhidyate| viruddhadharmāsaṁsṛṣṭatvāt yo yadbhedepi viruddhadharmāsaṁsṛṣṭo nāsau tadbhedepi bhidyate| yathā pratisandhiparamāṇubhedepyekaḥ paramāṇustathā cāyaṁ vivādādhyāsito bhāvastamātkālabhede'pi na bhidyate iti| atra vyāptau na kaścidapi vipratipadyeta| pakṣadharmatā te prasādhitaiveti sthiratā'sthiratā bhāvārnām| tadanantaraprakaraṇanihatapakṣadha(3)rmatā siddhitvādasādhanamasādhanīyam| tadevaṁ sattvaṁ prāgabhāvapradhvaṁsābhāvamadhyamadhyāsīnasya bhāvasyāntarālabhede nisatvamavagamayitumalamutkalitānukūlaprasaṅga-(4)-tadviparyaparyavasitasapakṣatve kvacidbījādau darśitasvasādhyapratibandhamiti prabandhena prasādhitaṁ sādhīyaḥ sudhībhiravadhāryamiti sthitam| pūrvasarvanyāyasanyāsamāśri-(5)-tya laghuparalaṅghana jaṁghālahetuhatiṁ prahiṇumaḥ| yadyasya yatravyavaharaṇakāraṇamapasaraṇaparācīnatayā cintitaṁ tatra tasya vyavaharaṇakāraṇajananīyaṁ nī-(6)-latā vyavaharaṇakāraṇanīli| bhavati tadvayavaharaṇavat| nīraje pūrvāparakālayaurapikaraṇākaraṇaviruddhadharmākhyānau bījabhede vyavaharaṇakāraṇa (7) mapasaraṇaramaṇatvena mataḥ, tadatra karaṇākaraṇaṁ nāsiddhayā grastamadhyakṣaprekṣitatvāt, viruddhatā viśeṣagaṇapi pramathitapradūṣaṇagaṇaṁ prācīnapragalbhapraba-(8)-ndhatvena nāpyanaikāntikatvaṁ antikamasya gantuṁ santanoti sāmarthyam| anyavyatirekapratyākalanayā hi kāraṇatvaṁ kiñcidapi pratiparyālocanīyamu(1) pāyāntarātarkaṇāt| ayameva bhedo bheda heturvvā yaduta viruddhadharmādhyāsastasya janananibandhanañca sāmagrīlakṣaṇakāraṇasājātyavijātyaparyava sitau bheda iti abhidadhānena cācāryacaraṇena pratidarśanaṁ darśitadikkālādiguṇadravyavyāyāvyayādibhedavyavahārahetuhastakatvāt nyastau viruddhadharmādhyāso vastusvabhāvanānātve nibandhanasamastavādivyāptyavyāptiprasarānākrāntapauruṣasato'yamevabheda i-(2)-ti vyavasthāne sthirastadvyavaharaṇeṁ kāraṇaṁkalpanāropitadharmāṇāmapi bhedo viruddhadharmādhyāsalakṣaṇa evetyavyāptirasambhāvinī, nacobhedepi vimṛśyate kvā-(3)-pi viruddhadharmādhyāsa ityativyāptivyastirasti virodhabodho bahudhā bahuṣviti na sambhavaviparyayo hṛdi dheyaḥ| na ca viruddhadharmadvayabhedānupapattistatrāpi nityasa-(4)-māṁ jātirītyā viruddhau padārtho vyudasya nānyo dharmonāma kintarhi dharmāntarapratikṣepā''kṣepābhyāṁ dharmmadharmmivyapadeśepi na vastubhedastenānavasthā (15) na manasi niveśyā yathākalpanamasya sambhavāt|
yatpunaruktam-bhedo hi virodhaṁ vyabhicarati, na virodhau bhedamiti tatpāramārthikāpāramārthikabhedabha-(6) ṇyābhāṣitaṁ viruddhatāhetoḥ savidhasambandhanibandhasambandhāvyāptisiddhau hi sapakṣe pakṣapātī viruddho nopalabdhaḥ bhedavyavahārajñāpakahetuśca prati (7) bhāsa bhedaḥ| dvitoyopi prayogaḥ-sa evāyamiti parāmarśaḥ so'sadṛśaparāvṛttapadārthadhyavasānavyāpāraḥ, yathā keśapāśe cchinnodbhinne sa evāyamiti parāmarśasya vivādapade ghaṭādau atyantasadṛśe sa evāyamiti mandasādṛśye sa iveti prakaraṇavaśāt atyantasādṛśya-(9)-mihopāttaṁ jātyekatve dīpādau pratyabhijñeti vadatā'tadvyāvṛttiviṣayā syātprakāśitā, yadyatītena saha vartamānasya ekatvaṁ nāsti kartha citpūrva paścāddṛṣṭārtha kriyā bhavati| na| yathā ghaṭamekaṁ vighaṭaghaṭāṅkurāropaṇe prekṣate yathā puradhāraṇaṁ tatheva pūrvānurodhe'asambhave yataḥ bhaviṣyati tādṛśārthakriyā taccekārthakriyākaraṇādekatvantu tadakārivyavacchedalakṣaṇaṁ sāmvṛtamiṣyata eva tena kṣaṇabhaṅgo ghaṭādīnāṁ dharmastenaiva sādhanahetubhirityapakṛtam| ekamiti hi vyapadeśavikalpāstadarthasāmarthyamā-(3)-treṇa samaṅgīsajātayo na punarartharadritasāmānyadyarthasāmānyadyarthaviṣayā vyapadeśavikalpāḥ prekṣāvadbhirādriyante tatastādṛgarthakriyākāritayaikatvaṁ pratyabhijñānaviṣayaḥ tasmādyā (4) pratyabhijñā sā tadarthakriyākārivyāvṛtta sadṛśārthakriyāsamarthaviṣayāḥ yathā ghaṭānayane'pi itarābhiprāyeṇa anyamānayeti niyoge ghaṭāntarānayane punaḥ-(5)-sa evānīta iti pratyabhijñā| pratyabhijñā ceyaṁ sa evāyaṁ ghaṭa iti ājanmanaḥ praṇāśāvadhipratibhāsaprasavaprasaṅgaḥ, pratikṣaṇaṁ kṣaṇabhaṅge sati bhāvasya bhavedata-(6)-viparyaye bādhakaṁ asti ca pratibhāsaḥ prāgabhāvapradhvaṁsābhāvayormadhyārūḍhasya vastutaḥ pūrvāparakālakalatātikrāntaḥ| saḥ krāntaniścayo nikhilavastu (7) sujanānubhavabhūmiḥ| ataeva sthavīyasi svabhāve bhāvānāṁ kālaniyamau'pi siddhaḥ| atadrūparāvṛttiviṣayastvekatvādhyavasāyonāvasthābhāvamākarṣati pratyayabhijñā (8) tantu sāṁvṛtaikatvaṁ vyavahārayati| paravyāmohāpanayanena yathādṛśyānupalabdhibalimahilāgopālādigamye'pi pratiṣedhe śaṅkayaṁ lakṣyīkṛtya vyāmohaśuddhatantraṁ (9) prakṣipyate|
“tadatyantavimūḍhārthaṁ āgovālādimasaṁvṛteḥ”

tathā dukūlanīlanalina-(10)-dalāvalivalimadhyapramadānandimandirakundasindūrārtha valabhīprabhṛtīnāṁ madhyāvasthākhya grāhyākāravedanāvṛtyaikaṁ pratisaṁdhātārameva bhāṣitaṁ sakṛdatra pratibhātīti pāścātyānuvyavaśāyavaśena sphuraṇañca pūrvānubhūtasya grāhakākārasya atadrūpaparāvṛttaviṣayaikavimarśavaśena vyāptyādikañca parikalpitādrūpa (2) parāvttavastustomākāreṇa kṣaṇakṣīṇatānukūlamilitavinyāseneti na kvāpyaṁśe śaṁśanīyadoṣamanityatāsādhanamava dhātavyaṁ bhavyabhāvena tathā-
vajropalādirapyathaṁḥ (3) sthiraḥ so'nyānapekṣaṇāt|
sakṛtsarvasya janayejjñānāni jagataḥ samam||
kramādbhavanti tānyasya sahakāryupakārataḥ|
āhuḥ pratikṣaṇaṁ bhedaṁ sadoṣo'trāpi pūrvavat|| (4)
ityādyapi yathā prastāvamapahastitrāsamupanyasanīyam|
yatpunarucyate kāladidravyaguṇakarmādikamantareṇa na kaścit vyapadeśastaṁ cāntareṇa na vacanaṁ tasmādvacanādeva kāladikamastīti kṣaṇikatāsiddhiriti, tadapi nirasyate, kālaḥ parāparavyatikarayaugapadyāyaugapadyacirakṣiprapatyayaliṅgaḥ teṣāṁ viṣayeṣu (9) pūrvapratyayavilakṣaṇānāmutṣattāvanyanimittāsaṁbhavāt| yadatra nimittaṁ sa kālaḥ yatraivāparapratyayodigapekṣayā tatraivaparapratyayaḥ kālakṛtaḥ ya-(7)-trai va ca parapratyayo digapekṣayā tatraivāparapratyaya kāla kṛta iti vyatikaraḥ śleṣaḥ| yugapadetāni kṛtāni krameṇa ca etāni kṛtāni| ciraṁ kṛtaṁ kṣipraṁ kṛtamiti na rūpādyatireke kāle pratyakṣāpravṛttaḥ mandatā hi niṣpatteḥ kāraṇakrameṇa virodhaḥ, kramopi bhāvābhāvādeva bhāvasya na kālaḥ rāṁhoḥ śira itivat, punara-(9)-bhāvasyāyaṁ kāla iti vyapadeśaḥ-
‘dṛṣṭatā'tītakālatvaṁ dṛśyatā vartamānatā
bhāvitā dṛśyamāṇārcāmiti vyavasthitiḥ’|
rūpamapi cakṣurvijñānajanakatvena evaṁ śa-(10)-bdādikamapi sve svendriyanidānadarśananibandhanatvena vedyam| dravyavyavasthāpi tatsamudāyasādhyaphalāhetuvyavacchedena darśitaiveti na tadāsti vyavaharaṇaṁ na yat pakṣe tad anityānubandhīti|

ihāpohe pratyūhavyūho vyudasyate| iha jagati jāgrato jīvalokasya nīlavipulacalacetanīyanicūlanicayādau cakṣuṣo vikṣepādanantaraṁ nīlādisvalakṣaṇaniṣṭho (2) nirbhāsastadanusandhānadhīrasādhāraṇabodhapratibaddhanīlādīnirbhāsaśca niścīyate etacca dvayamapi nīlādiparicchedadakṣamakṣatamabhīkṣṇamabhilakṣyate| sārūpyavaśa-(3)-gā hi paricchedaśaktiḥ samvedanānāmasti cānayornīlabhirbhāsatā nīlanirṇayanibandhanaṁ tenobhayamapi bhayabhraṣṭaṁ nīlameva paricchinattīti sampratyayaḥ sāṁvya-(4)-vahārikalokasya| tattvatarkavitarkaviśrṛṅkhalāśrayastu vyākhyātā samaḥkhyātiprathamamavyapadeśyaṁ vyavasāyātmakamiti| prathamamālo-(5)canājñānaṁ nirvikalpakaṁ bālamūkādijñānaprakhyam, tataḥ paraṁ punarvastu dharmerjātyādibhiryayā buddhayāvasīyate sāpi pratyakṣatvena sammateti vikalpakamadhya(6)kṣaṁ jātyādiyojitajalajādivastuparicchede dīpyate| bauddhastvavadhayvasitavān, prathamameva pramāṇaṁ dvitīyantu smaraṇābhogādisāmagrījalpanārthāt (7) utpadyate netrādisamagrāt| kintarhi madhyāvasthālakṣaṇajñānagrāhyākārātsmaraṇābhogādisahitādaniṣṭhitamitīṣṭaṁ nirṇayanibandhanaṁ punaratranetranīlādyarthāpāye'pi nīlākṣismaraṇasaṁkāntanīlādinirbhāsaḥ kutaḥ saṁbobhavīṁta| nārthāttasya niruddhatvāt| na jalāde vyāpyarūpādisvabhāvatvāt| idaṁ hyuktam-
tacca sāmā- (2)-nyavijñānamanurundhanavibhāvyate|
nīlādyākāraleśo yaḥ sa tasmin kena nirmitaḥ||
śabdebhyo yādṛśī buddhirnaṣṭe'naṣṭepi dṛśyate,
tādṛśyeva sadarthānāṁ naitacchotrā (3) dicetasām||
iti tathā
yadapyanvayivijñānaṁ śabdavyaktyavabhāsiyat|
varṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaṁ gotvaṁ hi varṇyate|
dravyādyarūpādirūpam| idaṁ tu vikalpakaṁ nīlādyākṛtisākṣarākāraṁ ca sujñātamantarmātrādipari (4) vittirvirbhāvyate| tena na jātyādiparicchedadarpo dvitīyapratyayasya tatpratyanīkarūpādiḥ rūpatvāt| na hi yatra yasya pratibhāso'saṁbhāvī sa tasya grāhakaḥ pratya-(5)-yasparśākāraśūnya iva rūpa samvedī na sparśasya| tathe damapi nīlādinirbhāsi na tatsvabhāvaśūnyajātyādisaṁvedi vyavasthāpyamāpadyate| tadetarayāṁ ve-(6)-danavivartamātrāyām|

sādhyate sarvadharmāṇāmavācyatvaprasiddhaye,|

rahasyaṁ punaratra, yena nī-(7)-laṁ anīlāpohamparicchidyate pratyayena na tenaivāpohaviṣayatvamātmano vyavasthāpyate, kintarhi, pratyayāntareṇa bādhamātanvatā nīlasvakṣaṇavilakṣaṇatvādetannirbhāsasya| tenedaṁ paraprauḍhaśāstrakṛdbhirapitatpratyayamadhikṛtyocyamānaṁ na mānasasparśiprekṣasya kṣaṇikatvānupapattiścānugata vyavavahārānanyathā siddheḥ śabdaliṅgavikalpāhi sādhāraṇaṁ rūpamanupasthāpayanto na tṛṇakubjīkaraṇe'pi samarthā ityavivādaṁ, bāhyārthasthitau sthirāsthiravicārāt| taccālīkaṁ vā, ākāro vā, bāhyaṁ vastu veti trayaḥ (2) pakṣāḥ| tatra na prathama pakṣaḥ taddhi tāvadanubhabādeva tathā vyavasthāpyaṁtasyālīkatvenānullekhāt| tathātve vā pravṛttivirodhāt| na hyalīkametadityanubhūyāpyarthakriyārthī pravartate (3) anyanivṛttisphuraṇṇānnaiṣa doṣa iti cet, etadevāsat vidhirūpasyaiva sphuraṇāt| nahi śabdaliṅgābhyāmiha mahīdharoddeśe'nagni rna bhavatīti skuraṇamapi tvagnirastī-(4) ti| yadyapi nivṛttimahaṁ pratyaimītyādi|
yasmādiha dharādharaviśmbharāyāṁ vibhāvasurastīti dhanañjayākāradhāritvādvodhasya tena bodhena dhanañjaya evāvabuddhaḥ| (5) tena vidhereva smaraṇāditi sammatamevāsmākam| alīkamiti tu loke'prakāśabhṛdbādhyamalīkamāhuriti vacanāt| prakāśyamānaṁ bādhitamucyate| tatkimucyate na (6) tāvattenaivānubhave netyādi bhāṣāmapi tāvadabhyasya nirākāravādinā hi dravyavadekānekavicāracakranikṛttatayā nīlādyākārameva cetaścakramalīkamabhilapyate tadapi na svānubhavaprabhāvādapi tu bādhakabodhādhīnaṁtat| tathā nīla jalajākārākrāntameva svāntamanīlavyāvṛttirityucyate| vyatiriktāyāṁ nīlavyākṛttau tato vyā-(8) vartamānaṁ nīlamanīlameva miledanīlavatā apitu tasmāt-
tatrāpi cānyavyāvṛttiranyavyāvṛtta ityapi|
śabdāśca niścalāścaiva nimittamanurundhate||
bhedāntarapratikṣepā prartikṣepau tayordvayoḥ|
padaṁ saṁketabhedasya jñātṛvāṁcchānurodhataḥ||
tatrāpyanyāpohe śabdārthena vyāvṛttiranyānya eva vyāvṛttestu vyāvṛttairnivartamānasya tadabhāvaprasaṅgāt| tathā ca (2) pravṛttera pyabhāvaḥ tasmādya eva vyāvṛtta sa eva vyāvṛttaśabdapravṛttibhedaśca rsaketabhedānuvācyabhedo'sti|
nanu ca vācyaviśeṣābhāvāt saṁketabhedo'pyayuktaḥ dvayorekā (3) calanāt, tathā ca vyatirekiṇyā vibhakteraprayogaḥ tasyābhedāśrayatvāt|
dvayorekābhidhāne'pi vibhaktirvyatirekiṇī|
bhinnamarthamivānveti vācyaleśaviśeṣataḥ||
na vai śabdārtha kācidviṣayasvabhāvāyattā vuttirityato vṛttyabhāvaprasaṁgāt yathā vyatirikte'vyatirikte vā prayoktumiṣyante tathā nirmuktāstamarthamapratibandhena prakāśayanti| tena gau rgau (5)tvamityekārthābhidhāne'pi kasyacidviśeṣasya pratyayena virudhyate saṁketabhede vyatiriktārthā vibhaktirarthāntaramivādarśayantī pratibhātyanarthāntare'pi tathā prayoga (6) darśanābhyāsāt| na tāvat sarvatra bhedaḥ anyatrāpi puruṣa iva tasya pratibandhābhāvāt| yathaikaṁ kvacidekatra cānena khyāpyate tadaviśeṣe'pi gauravādi khyā- (7)-panārthaṁ bahuvacanena prayogābhāvāttu saṁketabhedo na syāt anyasyaiva, tathāhi bhedāntareṇa yadi bhaṇitasyārthaḥ yadāyaṁ pratipattā tadanyavyavacchedabhāvānapekṣaḥ (8) piṇḍaviśeṣe'śvavyavacchedamātraṁ jijñāsate tathābhūtajñāpanāt tathā ca bhedasaṅketena śabdena bodhyate'naśvatvamasyāstīti yadā punarvyavacchedāntaranirāṅkṣyastaṁjñā-(9)-tumicchati tadā'parityakta vyavacchedāntaraṁ tamevāśvaparicchedāntaraṁ tamevāśvaparicchedaṁ tathā prakāśanāya pramucyate anaśvāyamiti| ata eva pūrvatra pratiṣṭhitapadāntaratvācchabdapravṛtterna samānādhikaraṇyaṁ viśeṣyabhāvo vā gotvamasya śuklamiti tanmātraviśeṣeṇa vuddhe stadāśrayabhūtāyā ekatvenāpratibhāsanāt| nirākāṁkṣatvācca dvitīye tu na bhavati| tathā saṁketavyavahāreṇa saṁketasakalavyacchedadharme vibhāgavat ekasya bahujanena pratibhāsanāt vyavacchedāntarasākāṁkṣatvācca|
bhedo'yameva sarvatra dravyabhāvābhidhāyinoḥ|
śabdayo rna tayo rvvācyeviśeṣastena kaścana||
tasmānna sarvatra dharmadharmivācinoḥ śabdayorvācye'rthe niścayapratyayavirodhatvena kaścidviśeṣaḥ ekastameva pratyāyanapratikṣiptabhedāntaraḥ pratyāyati (3) anyau'pratikṣepeṇaityayaṁ viśeṣaḥ|
jijñāpayiṣurartha taṁ taddhitena kṛtāpi vā|
anyena vā yadi brūyāt bhedo nāsti tato'paraḥ||
etāvantameva ca bhedaṁ darśanaṁ śuddhistena....vāde jā-(4)-yeta pācakatvamiti kadā vā pāa iti anyena vā tathābhūtajñāpanāya svayaṁkṛtena samayena na punastathā mūtābhidhānamātreṇārthāntaramevaitadbhavati tathābhūtasyaiva jñā-(5)-panāya śabdasya kṛtasaṁketatvāt| na ca pācakatvamiti tathā ucyate, na pācaka eva atra pākena anya eva kaścitpācako nāmābhidhīyate pāka vicintyate| yat pu-(6)-narasyāmidheyaṁ tat kaścittaṁ taveva pācakatvenāpītyayam|
nāstyekasamudāyo'smādanekatve'pi pūrvavat|
aviśeṣādaṇuttbācca na gati (7) ścenna siddhayati|
aviśeṣaḥ viśiṣṭānāmaindriyatvamato'naṇuḥ|
etenāvaraṇādīnāmabhāvaśca nirākṛtaḥ||
saṁkhyāsaṁyogakarmāderapi tadvat svarūpataḥ|
abhilāpācca (8) bhedena rūpaṁ vuddhau na bhāsate|
āvaraṇaṁ hi paramāṇūnāṁ upalabdhaṁ, asaṁsargātkathamiti na yuktam| na hi avayavī pratiṣedhasādhāraṇaṁ kvāpi upalabdhaṁ yena tattvābhāve paramāṇuṣu na syāttathā pratighātādayaḥ| atha
citratvātparamāṇūnāṁ saṁhateḥ syātpaṭādikam|
kathamāvaraṇaṁ vā tasyātapasya jalasya vā||
avayavaiḥ santyāgamantareṇa parimāṇuṣu ca (10) kevalā avyāhataparasparāntarānupradeśāḥ kathamāvaraṇatvāt jātasya vātra ucyate| asaṁsṛṣṭāḥ kathamavayavinaṁ jāyante saṁsargaśca naikadā tadabhāvāt na sarvātmanā'ṇumātrapiṇḍaprasaṅgāt saṁyogasya padārthāntarasya jananena cet tameva saṁyogaṁ sāntarāḥ kathaṁjayantīti samānaḥ prasaṅgaḥ| saṁsargaścet kiṁ saṁyogenāpare-(2)-ṇa tathā vāpi nā| atha sāntarā eva saṁyogamavayavinañca janayanti tathā satyavaraṇādikāryamapi kiṁna janayanti|
vināpi paramāṇūnāṁ saṁsargāt saṁhatiḥ parā|
āghāte'pi pṛthagbhāvau (3)yasyāṁ naiva samasti saḥ||
na khalu saṁyogaḥ pratibhāsate saṁyoge vyatiriktaḥ, kevalamasaṁyuktayoḥ sāvasthānopalabhyate tau punarupalabhyete tato'nvayavyatirekābhyāṁ kalpa-(4)-nāmātrametaditi nirṇayaḥ| apratyakṣeṇa te tathābhūtaṁ sacaivaṁbhūtaṁ jātamiti pratītiḥ| tataḥ saivāvasthā pṛthagbhāvena jñāpyate saṁyoga iti| ataeva|
śabdajñāne vikalpena vastubhedānusāriṇā|
guṇādiṣviva kalpyārthe naṣṭājāteṣu vā tathā||
na śabdajñānena vailakṣyamātrādeva padārthabhedo'pitu pratyakṣalakṣaṇajñānabhedāt vikalpi-(6)-kāhi buddhiranādivāsanāsāmarthyādupajāyamānā tathā tathā plavate tato nārthatattvaṁ pratiṣṭhāṁ labhate| tathānvayavyatirekeṇa parikalpitaṁ bhedamāśritya saṁyogādibūddhayaḥ tataḥ parikalpitasyaiva cotpādanārthatatvasya kalpitārthabhedastu tīrthyāntaradarśanādapyupajāyate| tato'pyarthatattvavyaksthāyāmanavasthā (8) tathā (8) tathābhyupagamanena parasparāpavādaḥ syāt| tato bhinnaśabdaḥ jñānañca vikalpite vastuni vāsanāyā anvayavyatirekābhyāṁ pravartate kiṁ bhūto'sau vikalpo vastu-(9)-bhedānusārī vastūnāṁ bhedo vyāvṛttiratathābhūtāt| na vyāvṛttādanyā vyāvṛttiḥ tataḥ sa eva santānāpekṣayā'rthāntarabhedo bhedena pratibhāti vastubhedama-(10)-ntareṇa ca kalpanā bhedānugā gamyante, yathā eko guṇaḥ ekaḥ samavāyaścaturviśatiḥ guṇāḥ|
mato yadyupacāro'tra sa iṣṭo yannibaṁdhanaḥ|
sa eva sarvabhāveṣu hetuḥ kinneṣyate tayoḥ||
ājātāḥ putrā sthaviraṁ tāpayantītivat, atītājātayoryannibandhanamupacārasya niru-(2)-paṇānusmaraṇagṛhītatvena kṣaṇaṁ tadeva nimittamastu vartamānepi saṁyukto ghaṭa ityādāvapi||
upacāro na sarvatra yadi bhinnaviśeṣaṇam|
mukhyamityeva ca kuto'bhinne bhinnārtha (3)teti cet||
anarthāntarahetutve'pyaparyāyaḥ sitādiṣu|
saṁkhyādiyoginaḥ śabdāstatrāpyarthāntaraṁ yadi||
guṇadravyāviśeṣaḥ syāt bhinno vyāvṛttibhedataḥ|
syādanarthānta(4) ratve'pyakarmādravyaśabdavat||
nanūpacāro hi nāma mukhyanibandhanaḥ sa kathamasati mukhye bhavet| mukhyañca bhinnaviśeṣaṇaṁ daṇḍyādivat| abhinnaviśeṣa-(5)ṇatve maulī vyavasthitiḥ bhavatastu pūrvapūrvakalpanākṛtaviśeṣaṇayogādabhinnaviśeṣaṇatvenamukhyatvaṁ kvaciditi nopacārasaṁbhavaḥ| bhinnaviśe (5) ṣaṇaṁ mukhyamityeva kṛtaḥ| abhinnaviśeṣaṇamapi kalpanākṛtabhinnaviśeṣaṇamatyantābhyāsāt rūḍhimupagataṁ mukhyameva|
buddhehaskhalitā vtti rmukhyāropita (7) yoḥ sadā
siṁhe māṇavake tadvadghoṣaṇāpyasti laukikīṁ||
iti vacanāt| askhalan gatipratyayaviṣayo hi mukhyaḥ tadaparastu gauṇa iti kinna paryāpyam| yadi viśeṣa-(8)-ṇamaparaṁ nāsti viśeṣyameva tarhi sarvatra vācyam| ityabhinnārthatā paryāyatā rūpābhedena sāmānādhikaraṇyaṁ bhinnaviṣayatve hi tadbhavati na buddhaya evahi sva vāsa-(9)-nānurodhādupajāyamānā bhedābhedasāmānādhikaraṇyādivyavahāramuparacayanti na paryāyatādiprasaṅgaḥ anarthāntaratve'pi dṛśyante aparyāyā akarmmadravyam, adravyaṁ karmmeti prabhṛtayo vyapadeśāḥ| tatra kiṁ vyāvṛttibheda eva nibandhanaṁ nāparaḥ pravṛttinimittabhedaḥ gauḥ śuklo gauḥ śabdatvamiti| punaḥ
vyatirekīva yaccāpi sūcyate bhāvavācibhiḥ|
saṁkhyāditadvataḥ śabdaistaddharmāntarabhedakam||
śrutistanmātrajijñāsoranākṣiptākhilāparā|
bhinnadharmamivācaṣṭe vogo'ṅgulyā iva kvacit||
yuktāṅguloti sarveṣāmakṣipāt dharmivācinī|
khyātaikārthābhidhāne'pi tathāvihitasaṁsthitiḥ||
gauriti tadekākāraparāmarśayogī sakala eva padārtha ucyate| śukla iti tadekadeśaḥ parāmarśāntarayoginī ca vartamānā vyatirekaśca anvayavyatire-(4)kābhyāṁ apovṛtaḥ| tatastasya gauḥ śuklo guṇa iti vyatirekavibhaktistadyathā “śilāputrakasya śarīraṁ rāhoḥ śiraḥ”| yadā ca gavākārāvagrahau nāsti śuklatvameva kevalamupalabhya-(5)-te sambandhiviśeṣarahitam| tadā praśnayati kasyeda śuklatvamiti tadāpūrvadarśanāt avadhṛtagosvabhāvo nirdiśati gauriti tādātmyasambandha evāsya vivakṣito-(6)-vyatirekastu kalpakapravalasya prathamaṁ niścayāt| yadā tu kevalenānena bhavitavyaṁ yadi nāma viśeṣopalakṣaṇamandatā mandalocanānāṁ tathāpi śuklenānena gavānyena bha-(7) vitavyamiti praśnayati| kī'yaṁ śuklo gauranyo veti tadā prativacanaṁ gauriti| samānādhikaraṇatayā tadantarbhāvenaiva praśnabhāvāt| tadanurūpameva prativacanaṁ mūkaṁ ayañca tattvārthaḥ|
anvayavyatirekābhyāṁ vyatirekaviniścaye|
viśeṣalakṣaṇābhāve kutaścit kāraṇādapi||
ayaṁ śaklo ṇuṇo'śvasya prativākyaṁ vipaścitāt|
praśnasya vyatirekitvāt [9] tathaivetyatra niścayaḥ (nirṇayaḥ)
yadā tvavyatirekeṇa viśeṣāntargame sati|
pramāṇavṛttamālocya praśnaḥ praśnayiturbhavet||
tadāviditatadbhāva uttaraṁ tādṛśeva saḥ|
dātānyaprakra-[10]-masyātra naivāvasarasambhavaḥ|
pratyakṣabhedamālocya na bhedasya viniścayaḥ||
na mūlamanumānasyābhedasyāsambhavo mataḥ|
anvayavyatirekau tu yadānādī vyavasthitau|
tadā bhedasya sadbhāvāt vyavahārastathaiva saḥ|
anādivyavahāro'yaṁ evameva jarāṅgataḥ|
vastucintā tu lokasya neti bhedo na bādhyate|
evamapi dravyābhāve ghaṭasya (2) rūpaṁ rūpasya rūpamiti vat syāt tadvyatiriktasyābhāvāt na|
rūpādi śaktibhedānāṁ anākṣepeṇa vataite|
tatsamānaphalāhetuvyavacchedaghaṭaśrutiḥ||
ato na rūpaṁ ghaṭa ityekādhikaraṇā śrutiḥ|
bhedo'yamīdṛśo jāti samudāyābhidhāyinoḥ||
rūpādayo ghaṭasyeti tatsāmānyopasarjanāt|
tacchakti bhedāḥ khyāpyante vācyo'pyanyo diśānayā||
nanu samāsakṛttaddhiteṣu samvandhā-(4)-bhidhānamanyatra rūḍhi abhinnarūpā 'vyabhicarita sambandhebhyaḥ| yathā rājapuruṣatvaṁ kārakatvamaupagavatvamiti svasvāmisvakriyākārakāpatyāpatyavatsambandhāḥ| asyāpavādaḥ| (5) samāsādrūḍhātkṛṣṇasarpatvam, kṛtasamaratvaṁ taddhitāt hastitvam atra jātimātramucyate na sambandhaḥ taddhitādabhinnarūpācchuklatvaṁ matvarthīyāntopi prakṛtyā tulyarūpatvāt| a (6) trāpi guṇa evābhidhīyate| kṛdanto'vyabhicaritasambandhaḥ saditi na sattāṁ padārtho vyabhicarati tena sa eva sambandho vācya iti śābdanyāyāt| kathaṁ pācakapācakatvayoreka evārtha iti cet na kriyāsamavāyayornirākṛtatvāt, kalpanākṛtabhede'pi tādātmyākṣateḥ, kimanupapannaṁ nāma vyāvṛttivyāvṛttaśabdayorekārthatvena tenānyāpoha vi (8) ṣaye tadvatpakṣopavartalūnam|
‘pratyākhyātaṁ pṛthaktvehi syāddoṣo jātiṁtaddhatoḥ’|
taddhato na svatantratvāt asyāyamarthaḥ|
evamiti sacchabdo jātisvarūṣamātropasarjanaṁ dravyamā (9) ha| na sākṣāditi tadbhūtadhaṭādibhedānākṣepāt| sa evātadbhedatve samānādhikaraṇyābhāva na hyasatyāṁ vyāptau sāmānādhikaraṇyamasti| tadyathā śuklaśabdena svābhidheyaguṇa (10) mātraviśiṣṭadravyābhidhānāt| satāmapi dravyamadhurādīnāmanākṣepastataścātadbhedatvamevamanyatrāpi prasaṅgaḥ| jātiśca svarūpañca śabdasya ca upasarjanaṁ dravyamuktaṁ na tadvat ghaṭādibhedastadubhayavyavadhinā ṣāratantryaṁ tataścana ghaṭatvāīnākṣipati| ghaṭatvayogācca, sattāśrayo ghaṭo bhavati| svataḥ yathā rūpaśabdenānākṣiptairmmadhurādibhinnasāmānādhikaraṇyaṁ śuklamambumiti tadvat pakṣopavandanaṁ tatpratyākhyātamityācāryavacanai bhāṣyakāra vyākhyāne ca pracarati| kathamayamanucitacintācamatkāritvāt samucitacetā ṇitavān|
“na ca nivṛttimātrapratibhāse'pi pravṛttisambhavaḥ, na hyaghaṭo nāstītyeva ghaṭārthī pravartate api ghaṭo'stītyādi” yato'ghaṭo nāstītyanyanivṛttirghaṭo vāstīti aghaṭādanyā ihāstīti aghaṭalakṣaṇā-(4)-nyavyāvṛtta ityeka evārthaḥ| ghaṭākāraghaṭitaghoṣonmīṣitamanīṣāyā eva ghaṭaviśeṣe apratiṣṭhitāyāḥ aghaṭavyāvṛttaghaṭe pravṛttinimittatvena nirūpaṇāt| tatpa-(5)-ricchinattitato'nyavyavacchinatti tṛtīyaprakārābhāvañca sūcayati ityekapramāṇavyāpāra eṣaḥ|
tena aghaṭasyaiva nivṛttiriti pratītau nāyaṁ doṣa iti cet, ghaṭanivṛttyapratikṣepe niyamasyaivāsiddheḥ| tatprakṣepe tu kastato'nyo vidhiḥ, niṣedhapratikṣepasyaiva vidhitvāt iti vivakṣitamevodyotitam| yato ghaṭa sārūpyasphuraṇādevaṁ taditaranirākaraṇaṁ, tadanupalambharūpatvā diti kathitamevaṁ prathamaṁ bādhakapratyayāduttarasamayasambhavinaḥ punastadalīkatvakalpanamekeṣām|
yatpunarucyate-svarūpabheda e (8) vānyāpoho'nyāpoḍharūpatvādvidhiriti cet na alauṁkapakṣe tadabhāvāt tasya svarūpavidhānavalīkatvaprasaṅgāt| svalakṣaṇasya vikalpānarohāditi-tadapyetena dūṣitam-(9) ghaṭasārūpyasphuraṇenāghaṭanivṛttasthūlamūlavastuvidhiravibhūta eva buddhayāpyavasīyate tadūrdhvaṁ dhvaṁsate bādhakāditi ko'parādhaḥ prathamabodhasya prathamabodhāpekṣayā(10) ca idamudīryate tvayā vikalpe svalakṣaṇānārohāditi na saṅgataṁ sajātīyavijātīṁyavyāvṛttapratiṣṭhitaghaṭākārapaṭu pratyakṣāpekṣayā vastu svalakṣaṇamucyate| tadeva vastuvijātīyatvāvṛttamullikhatā vikalpena samārūpyavaśāt sāmānyalakṣaṇamadhyavasāyaṁ vikalpamityucyate-tadapi sthūlamūlasvarūpa [2] sparśādyatiriktajātyādipadārthānupalambhāt, bhede ca ghaṭādikamidānīmevaṁvidhamadhyavasīyate, ityarthamabhisaṁdhāya vikalpe svalakṣaṇametat vyāvṛttamābhātīṁtyucyate| ubhayato vyāvṛttasya hitadekasmādapi tasya vyavacchedo'stīti na hyanīlamutpalaṁ na bhavatīti bhaṇyate| tathā coktamḥ-
yathoktaviparītaṁ yat tatsvalakṣaṇamucyate|
sāmānyaṁ trividhaṁ tacca bhāvābhavobhayāśrayam||
yadi bhāvāśrayaṁ jñānaṁ bhāvo bhāvānurodhataḥ|
noktottaratvātdṛṣṭavāt, atītādiṣu cānyathā|
bhāvadharmatvahāniścedbhāvagrahaṇapūrvakam|
tajjñānamityadoṣo'yaṁ meyaṁ tvekaṁ svalalaṇam||
tasya svapara rūṣābhyāṁ gatermeyadvayaṁ matam|
vidhirapi vidhirūpatāyāmavidhi dharmatvaṁ vyavacchinnasvabhāvamapekṣamāṇaḥ kathaṁ [6] na sāpekṣaḥ|
“tataḥ pratītāvitaretarāśrayatvamuktaṁ saṅketesañcārya yatparihṛtaṁ jñānaśriyā tadetat grāmyajanadhandhīkaraṇaṁ golakādiṁvat, sthānāntarasañcārān” iti mitrapādān prati upālambho na śakyaḥ vidhisphuraṇasyaiva svīkārāt sa ca vidhiḥ śabdāt pratīyamānaḥ saṁketānusāreṇa pratyetavyaḥ, saṁketaśca nāpratīte'rthe tasmāt [8] saṅkete kathaṁ sañcārya parihṛtaḥ parasparāśrayadoṣaḥ tathā coktam
avṛkṣavyatirekeṇa vṛkṣārthagrahaṇe dvayam|
anyo'nyāśramityekagrahābhāve dvayāgrahaḥ||
saṁketāsaṁbhavastasmāditi kecitpracakṣate|
teṣāmavṛkṣāssaṁkete vyavacchinnā na vā yadi||
vyavacchinnāḥ kathaṁ jñātāḥ prāgvṛkṣagrahaṇādṛte|
anirākaraṇe teṣāṁ saṁkete vyavahāriṇām||
na syāttatparihāreṇa pravṛttivṛkṣadeśavat|
avidhāya niṣidhyānyat pradarśyaikaṁ puraḥ sthitam||
vṛkṣo'yamiti saṁketa, kriyate tat pratipadyate|
vyavahāre'pi tenāyamadoṣaḥ iti cet taruḥ||
ayamapyameveti prasaṅgo na nivartate|
eka pratyavamarśākhye jñāne ekatra hi sthitaḥ||
prapattā tadataddhetūnarthān vibhajatesvayam|
tadbuddhivartino bhāvān bhāto hetutayā dhiyaḥ||
aheturūpa vikalānekarūpāniva svayam|
bhedena pratipadyetetyuktirbhede niyujyate||
idameva paramasubhāṣitāmṛtamapi ca te sādhūriti piṣṭaṁ piṣyate [3] yatpunaratī(ti)viśaṅkarakaleva mīlanādidhana pratyayādudbhāṣitam| vidhyalīkamiti cet|”
“na vyāghātāt| kiñciditi hi vidhyarthī na kiñciditi cālīkārthaḥ| atadrūpaparāvṛttimātreṇālīkatve svala[4]kṣaṇasyāpyalīkatvāditi (prasaṁgāt)|” tadapi kaḥ spṛśantu| yathātatvamanavasāyo yathāvasāyamatattvāt| sāmvṛto vidhipratyakṣapratibhāsavidheranya evāyam| tataśca dvividho vidhiḥ pāramā [5] rthi ko yasyārthasya sannidhānā sannidhānābhyāṁ jñānapratibhāsabhedastatsvalakṣaṇaṁ asādhāraṇaṁ tattvaṁ vastutaḥ tadeva paramārthasat arthakriyāsāmarthyalakṣaṇatvā [6] dvastunaḥ| anyatsāmānyalakṣaṇa so'numānasya viṣayaḥ grāhyaviṣayabhedaścāyam| adhyavaseyaviṣayabhedastu tiryagūrdhvatātmakāni yatropayogā tadrūpaparāvṛ[7] ttaghaṭādisvabhāvaḥ svalakṣaṇamevaikato vyāvṛttamucyate utpalavat|
nāvasturūpaṁ tasyaiva tathāsiddheprasādhanāt|
anyatra nānyasiddhiścet na tasyaiva prasiddhitaḥ||
ayathābhi[8] niveśena dvitīyā bhrāntiriṣyate|
gatiścetpararūpeṇa na ca bhrānteḥ pramāṇatā||
abhiprāyāvisaṁvādādapi bhrānteḥ pramāṇatā|
gatirapyanya thā dṛṣṭā pakṣaśścāyaṁ [9] kṛtontaraḥ||
pratyakṣavikalpe ca ghaṭa eva sphurati kevalaṁ ekatra sphuṭatayā anyatrāsphuṭatayā na ca viśeṣaṇabhedena viśeṣyamapi bhidyate| tenobhayathāpi ghaṭa evāyamudayanācāryaḥ dṛśyavikalpyāvarthau ekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛttiriti vyākhyātarambha alīkānalīkatvādiyathāruci racayanti na vyavahartāraḥ iti puruṣadvayāpekṣayā pi tu jñānasya svākāravaśādgrahaṇaṁ [2] sādhāraṇameva| anyathā hi bādhakapratyayabalāt alīkākāravikalpacalanādeva tathātva kathaṁ sthāpyaṁ tadarthākāratvañca| atha grahaṇanibandhanaṁ pratyakṣetarayoḥ samānam| parastu pāramārthi [3] kaḥ śabdajñānagṛhīto ca iti manyate tena tadabhimānasthalo'yaṁ bādhakāvatāraḥ tadevamubhayato vyāvṛttaghaṭākāraṁ jñānagrāhyaṁ grahaṇamekato vyāvṛttākāraṁ jñānaṁ grahaṇam [4]vyavasāya iti pratītidvayavyavasthā| avidyamāne'tyarthe'nubhavāvidmāvāsanāvaśagavikalpākāravaśāt grahaṇamatrāropaṇaṁ tadviṣayaścāropita ucyate| sa ca vidhirapi pratītyartho [5] pi na sambhavati, vikalpe svalakṣaṇasyānyavyāvṛttatayā saṁsparśāt virodhāt ubhayato vyāvṛttasyāpi ghaṭasya vijātīyavyāvṛttaghaṭamātragrahaṇāt sajātīyabhe-[5]-dagrahaṇa sāmarthyāt| na ca svalakṣaṇasya bhāvanāvidhitvaparihāreṇa sphuraṇam| na cālīkamapyalīkatvena tenaiva jñānena gṛhyate,
‘apramāṇāṇāmapi svārthe pramāṇamiva lakṣyate’ iti nyāyāt|
ubhayorāpi grāhakavikalpaāsthākāravilāsāt prakārāntatveṇāprathanām prathamā na rūpasambhavavācyakālpanikasyāpyaṁśa(8) bhāvasyāta eva na mūlo niṣṭhuranyāyakṣaṇaraprahāra pratyāśāparasya|
anyopohalakṣaṇaśabdārthe jātidharmmāpi kalpyamānā ekatvanityatva nityatvapratyekaparisamāptatvalakṣaṇā vya-[9]-vatiṣṭhante| abhedāśrayā vicchedāt kaścārtha (tenārtha) pratīteśca| tathāhi|
yāpyebhedānugā buddhiḥ kācidvastudvayekṣaṇe|
saṁketena vināsārtha pratyāsattinibandhanā||
pratyāsattirvinā jātyā yatheṣṭā cakṣurādiṣu|
jñānakāryeṣu jātirvā yathānveti vibhāgatḥ|
yathā tāvadabhedapratyayajananasāmagrī yadutārthamekaṁ śrāvaṇeyaṁ avalokya dvitīyaṁ cākaleyaṁ anyaṁ vā govyaktibhedamavadhārayanna bhinnapratyayavān bhavati ayamapi gaurayamapi gauriti aparāparālokane ca vardhamānā bhinnabuddhitvādvardhamā (2) naṁ sāmānyamāmnāyate abhedaśca gopiṇḍamaṇḍalānāṁ khaṇḍamuṇḍādibhede'pi vijātīyamātrābhinnārthapratīteḥ| padārthānāmeva dharmmaḥ sajātīyādapi viśeṣapratītau bheda pratītiriti vyavahāraḥ samastagopiṇḍamaṇḍalapradhvaṁsābhāvān, kālākalākalāpakalamānnityatvamapi vijātīyāpohapadārthasya sarvātmanā ca pratyekamanyāpoḍha (4) pratyaya ḍhaukanāt| pratyekaparisamāptiḥ sudṛḍhā alīkatvañca asya bādhakādhīnamiti, tadapekṣayāmi yadamunā pratītaṁ tadātadanyathākartumaśakyaṁ alīkakalpanayā vastupratibaddha(5) metat nabhavati pratyakṣapratibhāsavat, tadabhāve'pi smaraṇavadasyotpatirityeva syāt, yatratu pratibaddhā vyavasāyaprasavastatra bhāvikatvamevālīkatve'pyākārasyāpoḍhatva-(6)-sya bhāvepi bāhye bhāvāt anyopoḍhatvamevānugamaḥ, sa ca vāstavo'pi samvādāt kālpaniko pi kalpanā buddhau vivartanāt| nahi kṣaṇikābuddhirananugamāvā bāhyapadārthā (7) gamamakṣikatcaṁ vā pratyetuṁ akṣamāsmaraṇavat, yathā hi smaraṇamanatītamapi svayamatītatvaṁ smarati tathedamapi āropitastūcyate, yacca padārtho vikalpārūḍhagrāhyākārapratibhāsādgahītaḥ sa āropita ucyate, yathā bāhyārthābhāve'piṁ saṁnidhāne'saṁnidhāne vā śītārthena vahniñcintitastatra vahnirubhayavyāvṛtto nāsti vijātīyavyāvṛttastvāsti cintā sā-(9)-rūpyavaśāt pratītaḥ sa āropita ucyate asatvyāpītyapi bādhakapratyayavaśena tathātvāvasthābhedāgraho'pi vijātīyabhedapratīte sajātīyādbhedagrahaṇasāmarthyam|
tenevaṁ nirastaṁ “sādhāraṇaṁ ca rupaṁ vikalpagocaraḥ, na cālīkaṁ tathā bhavitumarhati| tasya hi deśakālānugamo na svābhāvikaḥ, tuccharūpatvāt| na kālpanikaḥ tasyākṣaṇikatvāt| nāropitaḥ anyatrā (2)pyaprasiddheḥ|
bhedāgrahādekatvamātramanusandhīyate iti cet na bhāvikasyabhedasyābhāvāt, bhāve vā kālpanikatvasya vyāghātāt| paramārthāsataḥ paramārthābhedaparyavasāyitvāt| āropitasyāgrahānupapatteḥ abhedāropānavakāśācca| āro pitāsattvasya paramārthasatveprasaṅgam catuḥkoṭivinirmuktasyāpratisañjakatvāt| tadagrahasya trailokye'pi sulabhatvāt|
anyatrāpi pāramārthikabhedapratīto kathamabheda āropyatāmiti cet evaṁ tarhi yasya pratibhāse yannāropyate niyamena tasyaivāprakāśe tadāropyaṁ na tvevannāmamātrakasyātiprasañjakatvāt| ata eva na vyadhikaraṇasyāpi sato'sato vā bhedasyāgrahī'bhedāropopayogīti|
ṭīkākāramatamavagamya kiṁmava valayitabhava anena tanmate (6) kilāropo nāma sādharmyadṛgapekṣaḥ kvaci t kasyacidupacāro rajatasyaiva śuktau vivākṣitaḥ| tato'yaṁ kugrāmavāstavya baṭujavyapetavyaḥ| jalpanīyamanalpaṁ pa (7) ryante kimapi bhaviṣyati labdhaṁ tāvat granthakārayaśaḥ ityāśayenābhihitavān| ‘nāpinyāyādapohasiddhitadabhāvādityādyapi prativihitam|
yatpunarbhāvābhāva-(8)-sādhāraṇyaṁ vikalpitaṁ na tāvat ubhayarūpatvaṁ virodhāt| na taddharmatvam anamyupagamāt| nahi gotvamabhāvasyāpi dharma ityamyupagamyate| na taddharmitvam, anekāntāt| vyakti(9)rapi hi bhābābhāvaśālinī na niṣedhaikarūpeti| na tadubhayāsādṛśyamasambhavāt| atannivṛttyaiva tathātve sādhyāviśeṣāt| nāpyasti nāsti sāmānādhikaraṇyaṁ vi (10) rodhādanyathā siddheśca| nahi yadasti tannāstīti pratyayagocaraḥ syāt| prakārāntaramāśritya syādeveti cet evaṁ tarhi tameva prakārabhedamupādāya vidhivyavasthā yāṁ ko virodhaḥ yena pratibandha siddhayet| “tasya vidhirūpatāyāmastinā kimadhikamupaneyamiti cet niṣedharūpatve'pi kimadhikamapaneyamiti samānam| ata eva sādhāraṇyamiti cet tathāpi kimetadubhayātmakamubhayaparihāro veti aśakyametat| tasmādastināstibhyāmupādhyantaropasaṁprāptiḥ prāptopādhi niyamo beti sārthakatvaṁ tayoḥ| tadetadvidhāvapi tulyam| śāntā (3) śeṣaviśeṣatvādalīkapakṣe kvopādhyantaravidhistanniyamoveti viśeṣadoṣaḥ| tato gośabdo gotvaviśiṣṭavyaktimāyābhidhāyī paryavasitaḥ| tāstu viprakīrṇadeśakālatayārthakriyā (4) rthiprārthanāmanubhavitumīśata iti pratipattā viśeṣākāṁkṣaḥ| sā ca tasyākāṁkṣāsti goṣṭhe kālākṣī dhanurghaṭoghnīmahāghaṇṭānandinīnyādibhirniyāmakai rvidhāyakairvā nivāryata iti (5) vidhau na kaściddoṣaḥ| iti| tadapi nirlakṣaṇaśaramokṣaprakhyāmīkṣyate| tathāhi vṛkṣa, śabdena vṛkṣavidhireva kṛtaḥ, satuvidhiryathā pratyakṣeṇa anupālambhātmanā vā tena (6) pratiṣedhaḥ kriyamāṇaḥ śakyate naivāsti nāstiśabdābhyāṁ sambaddhamasti niyatatvāt nāsti niyatatvādeva vā tathā kimayaṁ śabdo vidhiḥ ‘ābhyāṁ padābhyāṁ sambaddhaṁ yogyaṁ (7) upadarśyate’| tathā cedasti nāsti padasambandhasādhāraṇa upadarśitaḥ| tat sādhāraṇañcāvṛkṣavyāvṛttaṁ vā vṛkṣārthavidhāyitayā tathābhūtaścārthaḥ bāhyapadārthasya (8) abhāvaniyatasya bhāvaniyatasya vā sajātīyavyāvṛttayā tathākhyātasyānena tathākhyānābhāvātaṁ| sa ca śabdārthaḥ sādhāraṇo vā bhāvābhāvayordṛṣṭatvāt sādhāraṇaṁ tu (1)ko yathā nityāninyayordṛṣṭatvāt, prameyatvaṁ vastutvaṁ vā sādhāraṇamuktaṁ tadvat| na tu bhāvābhāvātmakatvādubhayasādhāraṇaḥ śeṣamapi kalpanaṁ aphalamanyathaiva vivakṣitatvāt| sarvasyaiva hi dharmarūpasya śābdasya tādṛśadharmmadvaye dṛṣṭatvāt| sādhāraṇyamābālamavagatam| tathāhi|
āvirbhāvatirobhāva dharmmakeṣvanuyāyivat|
taddharmmi yatrāvābuddhiḥ, jñānaṁ prāgdharmagrahaṇādbhavet||
iti bhaṭṭamatam|
ekaṁ dharmiṇamudṛśya nānādharmasamāśrayam|
vidhāvekasya tadbhājamivānyeṣāmupekṣakam||
niṣedhe tadviviktañca tadanyeṣāmapekṣakam|
trayavahāramasatyārtha prakalpayati dhīryathā|
taṁ tathevāvikalpārtha bhedāśrayamupāgatāḥ|
anādivāsanodbhūtaṁ dhāvante'rtha na laukikam||
tatphalo'tatphalaścāryo bhinna ekastatastataḥ|
taistairupaplavairnītasañcayāpayairiva||
dṛṣṭiṁ bhedāśrayaiste'pi tasmādajñātaviphlavāḥ||
iti siddhāntatatvamācāryīyamādāveva likhitam|
śabdebhyo yādṛśībuddhirnaṣṭe'naṣṭepi dṛśyate|
tādṛśyeva sadarthānāṁ naitacchobhādicetasām||
bhāvābhāvayordarśanādvikalpa prati (5) bhāsasya sādhāraṇyamuktaṁ pūrvārddhena| dvitīyārdhena aparamārthaviṣayatvasādhyadharmābhāvena sādhanadharmasya bhāvābhāvasādhāraṇyasyābhāvo darśitaḥ| śrotrādi (6)cetasi vipakṣadharmiṇi tataścāyaṁ prayogaḥ prajāyate| yaḥ pratyayo yasyārthasya bhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsaḥ sa paramārthatastadviṣayo na bhavati| yathā (7) saṁśayapratyayapratibhāsaḥ svārthasammataḥ śarkarādyarthabhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsaśca śarkarādivikalpapratibhāsaḥ vyatirekeṇa yaḥ paramārthataḥ (8) pratyayo yadviṣayaḥ sa tasyārthasyānvayavyatirekāvanuvidhatte| yathā madhuragāndhāradhvanibhāvābhāvānu vidhāyīśrotrabodhaḥ| śarkarālakṣaṇasvārthabhāvābhāvā (9) nuvidhāyī ca na bhavati śarkarāvikalasya pratibhāsaḥ paramārthatastadviṣayatvaṁ tadutpattisambadhanibaṁdhanaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ śrotraprarūpa pratyayapratibhāso yadi tadabhāveti (10) paramārthatastadviṣayatvaṁ syāt| tadā saṁśayaviparyāsapratyayapratibhāsasyāpi syāt na ca tayostathātvamanumanyate prāmāṇikena nāvālambanapratyayatvā bhāvādaparamatau kāraṇaṁ śakyaṁ kalpayitum| yathā go jñānaṁ tāvat viṣayaṁ aparamapi ca na yuktam|
tacca sāmānyavijñānamanurundhan vibhāvyate|
nīlādyākāralekṣo yaḥ sa tasminkena nirmitaḥ||
iti yat yat pratibhāsaṁ vijñānaṁ na bhavati na tattadviṣayaṁ vyavahartavyam| yathā go jñānaṁ aśvaviṣayaṁ na vyavahṛyate varṇakṛtyakṣarākārābhāsaṁ kalpavijñānaṁ, na varṇakṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaparasammatasāmānyapratibhāsaṁ tadviṣayatvaṁ hi pratibhāsatvena vyāptarūpābhāsasya rūpaviṣaye dṛṣṭaṁ rase (4)canopanaddhaṁ paramārthata iti viśeṣaṇāt sāṁvṛtaṁ na pāryate| paramārthaśca pratiṣṭhito bhāvasvabhāvo'rthakriyāsamarthaḥ| pratyakṣapratibhāsitaḥ sarvavyavahartṛṇāṁ hānopādānasamī (5) hāviṣayaḥ prakāśyate-
arthakriyāsamartha yattadeva paramārthasat|
anyat saṁvṛtisat proktaṁ te svasāmānyalakṣaṇe| ityarthaḥ|
tenedamasaṁlagnam ‘tadyadigovikalpasyāśvaviṣayatvameva tadbhāvāsādhāraṇyaṁ gavyapi bāhye tathā, tataḥ sādhyaviśiṣṭatvam’|
arūpādiviśeṣākā'ṅkṣā tadā'sādhāraṇyam, nahyudāhṛto govikalpo'śvāityādiviśeṣamākāṅkṣati| niyamavidhau tu virodha eva| na hyatadviṣayasya tadviśeṣaniyamākāṅkṣā nāma, gojñānasyāśvaviśeṣa niyama' kāṁkṣāprasaṅgāt| tadīyasadasatvānupadarśanaṁ cet tato'siddhirdoṣaḥ| nahi govikalpo gośvarūpaṁ nopadarśayatīti mama kadāpi siddham, tava cādyāpi| upādhya (9)ntaraṁcedanekāntaḥ| na hi yo yasya upādhyantaraṁ nopadarśayet nāsau tadapītiniyamaḥ’ iti|
punaścoktaṁ kathaṁ pūreta asya agotvavyavacchedaḥ, śabdaliṅgābhyāṁ (10) pratipādyate na viśeṣaḥ vastusvarūpayeveti pramāṇantarasya śabdāntarasya ca vṛtteḥ| tathāhi-
ekasyārthasvabhāvasya pratyakṣasya ca sataḥ svayam|
ko'nyo bhāvo na dṛṣṭaḥ syāt yaḥ pramāṇaiḥ parīkṣyate||
sahi-pratyakṣaḥ prasiddho dharmiṇi sādhanāsambhavāt| yathā pratyayatvasādhye śabdastathā pratyakṣeṇaiva siddheḥ sarvākārasiddhe tadanyasya'(2) siddhasyābhāvāt, bhāve vā na tatsvabhāvatvaṁ nahi yat..........na bhavanti sa tatsvabhāvoyuktaḥ tanmātranibandhanatvāt bhedavyavahārasya| anyathā abhāvaprasaṁgādi (3) ityuktam, tasmātpratyakṣeṇa dharmiṇi tatsvabhāvāsākalyaparicchedāt atrānavakāśaḥ pramāṇantarabuddhiḥ syāt|
“no cedbhrāntinimittena saṁyojyetaḥ guṇāntaramḥ
‘śuktau vā rajatākāro rūpasādharmyadarśanāt||
yadi dṛṣṭasarvatatvasyāpi bhrāmyaddhetoḥ niścayapratirodhinā bhrāntinimittena guṇāntarā na saṁyojyeta, yathā śuktau rajatākārau, na hi śuktau te rūpe samānaṁ viśiṣṭañca tathāpratipattiprasaṅgāt| apratipattau vā vivekena tvavikalpāyogān atiprasaṅgācca| tasmāt paśyan śuktirūpaṁ ca (6) viśiṣṭameva paśyati niścayapratyayavaikalyāt|
aniścitaṁ tava sāmānyaṁ paśyāmīti manyate’
tato'sya rajatasamāropaḥ tathā sadṛśā'rtharopi notpatte(7)ralakṣitanānātvasya bhrāntisamāropāt sthitibhrānti yā'vanto'sya parabhāvā tāvanta eva yathāsvaṁ nimittabhāvinaḥ samāropāiti tadvayavacchedakāni (8) bhavanti pramāṇāni saphalāni, teṣāntu vyavacchedaphalānāṁ tu nā pratītavastvaṁśapratyāyane pravṛttistasya dṛṣṭatvāt| phalāṁ śasya caikadeśena darśanāyogāt|
tasmāt [1]dṛṣṭasya bhāvasya dṛṣṭa evākhilo guṇaḥ|
bhrānternaniścala iti sādhanaṁ saṁ pravartate||
vastu grahe'numānācca dharmasyaikasya niścaye|
sarvadharmagraho'pohe nāyaṁ doṣaḥ pra [10] vartate|
tasmādapohaviṣayaṁ iti liṅgaṁ prakīrtitam|
anyathā dharmiṇaḥ siddhau kimataḥ sādhakaṁ param||
kvaciddṛṣṭepiyajjñānaṁ sāmānyārthavikalpakam|
asamāropitānyaṁśe tanmātrāpohagocaram||
niścitāropamanaso'rtho bādhyabādhakabhāvataḥ|
samāropaviveke'sya pravṛttiriti gamyate||
yāvantoṁśa samāropastannirāse viniścayāḥ|
tāvanta eva śabdāśca tena te bhinnagocarāḥ||
anyathaikena śabdena vyāpta ekatra vastuni|
buddhayā nānyaviṣaya iti paryāyatā bhavet||
iti svamatamupadarśya viṣayama [3] paramohahataye proktam|
yasyāpi nānopādherdhī grāhikāryasya bhedina-|
nānopādhyūpakārāṅgaṁ śaktyabhinnātmano grahe||
sarvātmanohakāryasya ko bhedaḥ syādaniścitam|
tayorātmani sambandhādeka jñāpe dvayagrahaḥ||
atmabhūtasyopādhestadvatorūpakāryopakārakabhāvasya grahaṇāt| ekajñāne dvayorapi grahaṇamiti ekopādhiviśiṣṭepi [4] tasmin gṛhyamāṇe sarvopādhīnāṁ grahaṇaṁ tadgrahaṇanāntarīyakatvādupādhikṛdgrahaṇasya| anyathā tathā na gṛhyeta| na hyanyaevānyopakārako yo na gṛhī [6] taḥ syāt| na cāpyapakārake tathā'gṛhīte tadupakāryāgrahaṇaṁ tasyāpyagrahaṇaprasaṅgāt| tasmādarthāntaropādhivāde'pi samānaḥ prasaṅgaḥ|
dharmopakāraśaktīnāṁ bhede tāstasya kiṁ yadi|
nopakārastataḥ tāsāṁ tathā syādanavasthatiḥ||
ekopakārake grāhye nopakārāstato'pare|
dṛṣṭe tasminnadṛṣṭā ye tadgrahe sakalagrahaḥ||
ityanena pāramārthikapāratantrya lakṣaṇopādhisambandhayonyasvabhāvāṅgīkāre sakalagahaḥ ekenāpi pramāṇena śabdena vā pravṛttena syāt| yadā tu
bhāve bhāvini tadbhāvo bhāva eva ca bhāvitā|
prasiddhe hetuphalate pratyakṣānupalambhataḥ||
etāvanmātratatvārthāḥ kāryakāraṇagocarāḥ|
vikalpā darśayantyarthān mithyārthā ghaṭitāniva||
bhinne kā ghaṭanā'bhinne kāryakāraṇatāpi vā|
bhāve hyayanyasya viśliṣṭau śliṣṭau syātāṁ kathaṁ na tau||
saṁyogi samavādyādi sarvametena cintitam|
anyo'nyānupakārācva na sambandhī ca tādṛśaḥ||
iti kalpitopakāryāpakārakabhā [2]ve sambandhenāyaṁ prasaṅgaḥ, kena hi kāryāṁpekṣya paścāt kāryakāraṇabhāvabhājaṁ bhāvamakalpamapi pratyakṣamīkṣate yenāyaṁ prasaṅgaḥ syāt| ata evoktam apohenāyaṁ doṣaḥ prasaṅgataiti| sūryavadevā (sūryādervā) viśvopakārisvabhāve grahe viśvagrahaḥ [3] syāt| ata e vāha-
‘yadi bhrāntinivṛnttyarthaṁ gṛhīte'nyadiṣyate’
syādetannirbhāgasya vastuno brahe ko'nyastadā na gṛhīto nāma sa tu bhrāntyā nāvadhāryate iti pramāṇāntaraṁ yadyevaṁ-tadvyavacchedaviṣayaṁ siddhaṁ tadvattato'param|
tadvayaccheda viṣayaṁ siddhaṁ tadvattato'panparam|
asamāropaviṣaye vṛtterapi ca niścayaiḥ|
yanna niścīyate rūpaṁ tatteṣāṁ viṣayaḥ katham||
yattarhi bhrāntinivṛttyarthaṁ pravṛttaṁ pramāṇāṁanyasya samāropavyavacchedaphalamiti siddhamanyāpohaviṣayaṁ tadvadanyadapi asa [5] māroparviṣaye vṛtteḥ yatrāsya samāropo na tatra niścaya iti samāropābhāve rktamāno'nyāpohaviṣayaḥ siddhaḥ, pratyakṣantu pratiṣṭhitapratibhāsavaśāt gṛhṇīta pāratantryādi svabhāvabhraṣṭhaḥ [6] akaṣṭena apakarṣitaprakṛtāvadyasaṁdohamadehamevaṁ samarthayate|
pratyakṣaṇa gṛhīte'pi viśeṣeṁśavarjite|
yadviśeṣāvasāye'sti pratyayaḥ sa pratīyate||
iti vikalpapratyayahetuścāyaṁ abhyāsa pā[7]ṭavā santi tāratamyādiḥ| yathā
parivrāṭkāmukaśunāmekasyāṁ pramadā tanau|
kuṇapaḥ kāminī bhañjamiti tisro vikalpanā||
ityādi vartikakāradarśite prasaṅge yannipuṇamasṛṇamanīṣayā dharmmā [8] na na sarpavadapaviṣavisarpaṁ sphāraphūtkāraprāyaṁ pralapitamamunā lekhitumapi (likhitumapi) urjjāmahe| maheśvarapraṇatalabthavarṇavarṇitatvena na prahasanāya prastūyate|
upādhyantaraṁ cedanekāntaḥ| na hi yo yasya [9] upādhyantaraṁ nopadarśayet nāsau tadapīti niyamaḥ| nanu niyama eva, tathāhi yanna yatsamevatadharmabodhanaṁ na tat tatsvarūpabodhanaṁ yathā govikalpaśabdauturage| tathā ca tau gavyapi nīlatvā[10]pekṣayeti vyāpakānupalabdhi dharmibodhe'pi ki dharmāṇāṁ kasyacidbodhaḥ kasyacidabodhaścetyupakārabhedānniyamaḥ syāt| upakārabhedaśca śaktibhedāt bhavet| na caiva prakṛte anavasthāprasaṅgāt| tataḥ śakternabhedāt| upakārābhede sarvopādhisahitabodhi'bodhoveti dvayī gatiriti pratibandhasi ddhiḥ|
duṣprayuktametat, upādhiṁ prakalpya mede pratiniyatasāmagrīvodhyatvasyāpi svabhāvavaicitryanibandhanatvāt, tasyāpi svakāraṇādhīnatvāt, tasyāpyanvayavyatirekasiddhatvāt tasyāpi kāryonneyatvāt iti|
yattu śakterabhedādityādi, tattadā śobheta yadi dharmimātrādhīnastadbodhamātrādhīno vā, tāvanmātrabodhasāmagrayadhīno vā yāvadupādhibhedabodhaḥ syāt, na caivam|
yayā [4] kayāpi sāmagryā jñānamutpadyatāṁ tat kiṁ pāramārthikasvarūpadvayaniṣṭhopakāryopakārakabhāvabhāgidravyaṁ dṛṣṭamiṣṭaṁ na vā, tena jñānenayadi dṛṣṭaṁ, sarvātmanā upādhibhiḥ sārdham| yadyaṁśenāpoha vi [5] ṣayatvasya svīkṛtamapāramārthikopādhyapakārayogyasvabhāvatvasya bhāvasyātadvyāvṛttiniṣṭhasya tena nirūpaṇāt nipuṇaṁ nirūpaya tāvat| grāhakajñānāpekṣayā prasaṅge datte ke [6] śe spṛṣṭa śiraśca nayasi sāmagryā vaicitryāditi tataḥ ki jñānameva sakalopādhi upakārayogyavastusvarūpamanyonyāpekṣaṁ na lakṣayasi| vastusvarūpameva cānyathākṛta (7) svabhāva eṣa jñānasya kṛtastena tatpadārthamekopādhiviśiṣṭaṁ niṣṭaṁkayati| paryantavikalpaviśvāse dantaniṣṭhoṣikāyāḥ kimetadanyat| anyavikalpālambane tu vyaktameva prakṛtadoiṣānatikra-(8)-maḥ kārakahetuprasaktiśceti yatpunarūpahāsya evaṁ upahasati|
etena bhedāddharmiṇaḥ pratītāvapi śabdaliṅgadvārā dharmāṇāṁ bhedapratītirindriya dvārāpi mā bhūta ityādikaṁ tu karṇasparśeṁ kaṭicālanamapāstam| tattadupādhyupalambhasāmagrīvirahakāle prasañjitasyeṣṭatvāt| vicitraśaktitvācca pramāṇānāṁ, liṅgasya prasiddhapratibandhapratisandhānaśaktikatvāt, śabdasya samayasīmavikramatvāt, indriyasya tu arthaśaktera pekṣaṇāt na tu sambaddho'rtha ityevaṁ pramāṇaiḥ pramāpyate, atiprasaṅgāditi-tadapi samyak pūrvavicārānatikramāt, api ca tadasyaparihāreṇa pravartateti ca dhvaneḥ ucyate| tena te syāt vyavacchede kathaṁ ca sat śabdastathāyuktaṁ anyacca niṣparihāreṇa pravartate'tiprasaṅge, tatrānyatra ca pravṛttyanujñāyāṁ tannāmagrahaṇavaiyarthyaṁ sat pravṛttinivṛtyanujñāyāñca ekacodanā, nā (2) nātva etadvacanameva syāt vyāvṛtyākhyāne tasmādavaśyaṁ śabdena vyavacchedaścodanīyaḥ| sa cābhinnastadanye vyaktijātidharmāpyasti tanniyatāsūpagamaṁ, niyatacodanaṁ jātyarthaprasādhanañca, paritya (3) jya avāntaraparikalpanaṁ anarthanirbandha eva yathākalpanamasyāyogāt| na vai vyavacchedo na kriyate, pravṛttiviṣayantu kathayanti jātirūpā, vyavacchedo'sti bhedasya nanvetāvatprayojanaṁ śabdānāmiti| (4) kiṁ tadasāmānyo nāpareṇa vaḥ| na jātirarthakriyāyogyeti pravṛttiviṣayaḥ| taddvāreṇa codite na pravṛttirapi pratyuktā, tadvat codane ca vyavadhānaṁ jātivatoḥ pravṛttiviṣayatve vyāvṛtti taccānto (5) kinneṣyate vyāvṛtteravastutvenāsādhanatvāccet tattulyaṁ jāteḥ tadvatsādhanādadoṣa iti cet tulyaṁ tadvyāvṛttimataḥ avastugrāhī ca vyāvṛttivādināṁ śābdaḥ pratyayaḥ sacitramavajātajanma kārake'pi kārakāvyavasāyī pravartayati, vastusaṁvādastu vastūtpattyā tatpratibandhesati bhavati, anyathā naivāsti vastutpatte rna bhrānteriti cet nātat pratisiddhastatastadavyavasāyāt| maṇipra [7] bhāyāṁ maṇiprabhāyāṁ maṇibhrāntidarśanena vyabhicārācca bhrānteravastusaṁvāda iti cet na yathoktenaiva vyabhicārāt| vitathapratibhāso hi bhrāntilakṣaṇaṁ tannāntarīkatayā saṁvādo na pratibhāsā-(8) pekṣī jātergrahaṇamevaṁ bhrāntigrahaṇe vā na tatra pravṛttiriti kiṁ tenānyavyāvṛtā ca kriyāyogyanīlādyarthākārapratyayaprādurbhāvāt, tadupanīte'nyapravṛtti nivṛttī samañjasa janmāno vināpi ca sā (8) mānyena prakṛtibhinneṣvartheṣu bhede cedamiti pratyabhijñānaṁ yasmāt-
jñānādyarthakriyāṁ tāṁ tāṁ dṛṣṭvā bhede'pi kurvataḥ|
arthāstadanyaviśleṣaviṣayairdhvanibhiḥ saha||
saṁyojyapratyabhijñānaṁ kuryādapya[10]sya darśane||
bhede'pi prakṛtyaiva cakṣurādivat jñānādikā arthakriyā tathānyeṣu padārtheṣu tāmeva arthakriyāmatadrūpaparāvṛtteṣu paśyato'nyāvṛttaviṣayatvavisaṁsṛṣṭaṁ tadevedamiti svānubhavavāsanāprabodhane saṁsṛṣṭabhedaṁ mithyājñānamā(ma) jāyate, anyathā bhedasaṁsargavatī buddhiḥ syāt daṇḍivat| na hyekadaṇḍadarśanenānyatra sa evāyami (2) ti bhavati, kiṁ tarhi, tadiheti| na caivaṁ pratyabhijñānaṁ kiṁ tadevedamiti, tanna tadekamanekatra paśyatopi bhedasaṁsargavat muktam| vibhramavaśāttu tathā jñānena virodhaḥ nimittābhāvādvibhramo na mukta iti cet (3) ta eva bhāvāstadekārthakāriṇo'nubhavadvāreṇa prakṛtyā vibhramakalāyā vikalpavāsanāyā hetutvānnimittaṁ| marīcikādiṣvapi hi jalādibhrāntestāvevābhinnāhāraparāmarśapratyayanimittānubhava (4) jananau bhāvau kāraṇaṁ bhinnāvapi na hi tatrānyadeva kiñcitsāmānyamasti yattathā pratīyate| sattve vā sadarthagrāhiṇī buddhirbhrāntirna syāt, abhūtākārasamāropādbhrāntitve sa evākāro'syā viṣayaḥ, (5) aviṣayasyānāropāt| sa cāroposāmānyamekakāryakārigrahaṇa iti nirarthikotpattiḥ yathāvasthitasvabhāvagrahāsāmarthyaṁ vikalpānāṁ svakāraṇapravṛtteḥ svakāra (6)ṇañca avidyāvāsanā'pi keśavibhramasyeva timiraṁ tena|
astīyamapi yā tvantarupaplavasamudbhavā||
doṣodbhavā prakṛtyā sa vinayapratibhāsinī|
anapekṣitasādharmyadṛgādistimirādivat||
parasyāpi na sā buddhiḥ sāmānyādeva kevalāt|
nityaṁ tanmātravijñāte vyaktyajñānaprasaṅgataḥ|
ekavastusahāyāścedvayaktayo jñānakāraṇam|
tadekaṁ vastu kiṁ tāsāṁ nānātvaṁ[4] samapohati|
nānātvāccaikavijñānahetutā tāsunekṣyate||
atha vaikalyaṁ jananavirodhitenatatsāhitye jananaṁ cet
anekamapi yayekamapekṣyābhinnabuddhikṛt|
tābhirvināpi pratyekaṁ kriyamāṇāṁ dhiyaṁ prati||
tenaikenāpi sāmarthya tāsāṁ netyagraho dhiyā|
atha yathā nīlādiṣu ekāpāye'pi cakṣurvijñānaṁ bhavatīti na samūhe'pi teṣāmasāmarthyam| tathehāpi pratye (10) kāṣāye bhavatīti na sarvvadā'sāmarthyam| na,
nīlādernetra-vijñāne pṛthaksāmarthyadarśanāt|
śaktisiddhiḥ samūhe'pi naivaṁ vyakteḥ kathañcana||
na hi vyaktayaḥ sāmānyarahitā anvayijñānajanane dṛṣṭaśaktayaḥ tato na tāstatra samarthā iti na tena gṛhyeran|
tāsāmanyatamāpaikṣyaṁ taccecchaktaṁ na kevalam||
tadekamukuryustāḥ kathamekāṁ dhiyañca na|
pūrvakasahakārivicārātsāmānyamupakāryamāsāṁ prāptaṁ sāmānyāntaramivāpekṣiṇāṁ ka āsāṁ pratibandhodhiyamādhātumekānto hi tena vinotpannā mithyā svaviṣayādṛte| iti mithyā (2) tvamāśaṅkya mānasavivādā uktameva bauddhadhiyām| tathā
dharmiṇo naikarūpasya nendriyātsarvathā gatiḥ|
svasaṁvedyamanirdeśyaṁ rūpamindriyagocaraḥ||
sarvato vinivṛttasya vinivṛttiryato yataḥ|
tadbhedonnītabhedā sā dharmiṇo'nekarūpatā||
te kalpitā rūpabhedā nirvikalpasya cetasaḥ|
na vicitrasya citrābhāḥ kādācitkasya gocaraḥ||
yadyapyasti sitatvādi yādṛgindrayagocaraḥ| [5]
na so'bhidhīyate śabdairjñānayorūpabhedataḥ|
ekārthatve'pi buddhīnāṁ nānāśrayatayā sa cet|
śrotrādi cintānīdārnī bhinnārthānīti tatkutaḥ||
jāto nāmāśrayo'nyonyaḥ cetasāṁ tasya vastunaḥ|
ekasyaiva kuto rūpaṁ bhinnākāravabhāsitat||
cakṣuliṅgañca śabdañcāśritya yadi citrācitrābhāsatvaṁvikalpanirvikalpakacetasorbhavati| tarhi tayorekaviṁṣayatvaṁ kathamastu paramārthataḥ athaika paramārthaviṣayamaparaṁ timirakāmalābalādiva śukle pītādyābhāsadhāyino'vidyādyaparapratyayāditaḥ sarvato vinivṛtte'kha'ḍātmani (8) vivakṣitārthakriyāhetopratiniyatānyavyāvṛttadharmmadharmibhāvalabdhakhaṇḍatvānarthakriyāsamarthapratibhāsavikalpakāriṇaḥ samutpannamaparamārthaviṣayakāraṇaṁ kāraṇabhedāt prati (9) bhāsabhedācca samarthyatāmityuktau kledaṁ sambadhyate|
citrācitrapratibhāsābhyāṁ mitho viruddhābhyāmekanīlaviṣayābhyāmanaikāntāt| na rhi citrādhyakṣe yannīlaṁ cakāsti tadeva vā puruṣāntarasya yenākāreṇaikaviṣayatvaṁ tayo rna tenaiva virodho, yena ca virodho na tenaikaviṣayatvam, dharmāntarākāreṇa virodho nīlamātrākāreṇa cai kaviṣayateti cet-nanvihāpi dharmāntarākāreṇa virodho gotvavatpiṇḍamātrākāreṇa ekaviṣayateti tāvanmātranirākaraṇe'siddho hetuḥ| pūrvatra siddhasādhanam| na hi śābdalaiṅgikavikalpakāle deśa (2) kālaniyamādayo'pi sarva eva dharmaviśeṣā viṣayabhāvamāsādayantītyabhyupagacchāmaḥ” nirvāhabhraṁśarūpe na hyavyaktamuktavato pi prameyānusaraṇenānistaraṇameva bhavataḥ dharmmidharmatayā citrateha vivakṣitā sā kathamanekāntā| citrābhyāṁ nīlābhyāṁ tayaurnirvikalpakaṁ cet gaurarthakriyāsamarthapratiṣṭhitaṁ nīlapratibhāsayoḥ vikalpakā niyatapratibhāsavikalpena saha kathaṁ savyetaranayanadṛṣṭavadekaviṣayatvaṁ sphuṭāsphuṭāsphuṭamapi sannihitāsannihitatayā nīlasya grahaṇaṁ tatrāsannihitatayā deśakālābhyāṁ vikalpakamavaiti deśādisannihitatayā nirvikalpakam|
dūrāsannādi bhedena vyaktāvyaktaṁ na yujyate|
tasyādālokabhedāccet tatpidhānāpidhānayoḥ||
tulyā dṛṣṭiraduṣṭirvā sūkṣmo'śastasya kaścana|
ālokena ca mandena dṛśyate'to bhidā yadiṁ||
ekatve'rthasya vāhyasya dśyādṛśyabhidā kutaḥ|
anekatve'ṇuśobhinne dṛśyādṛśyabhidā kutaḥ|
māndyapāṭavabhedena bhāso buddhibhidā yadi|
bhinne'nyasminabhinnasya kuto bhedena bhāsanamḥ|
mandaṁ tadapi tejaḥ kimāvuteriha sā na kim|
tanutvaṁ tejaso'pyetadastyanyatrāpyatānavam||
atyāsanne ca suvyaktaṁ tejastat syādatisphuṭām|
tatrāpyadṛṣṭamāśritya bhavedrūpāntaraṁ yadi ?||
anyo'nyāvaraṇātteṣāṁ syāttejo vihatistataḥ
tatrekameka dṛśyeta tasyānāvaraṇe sakṛt||
paśyetsphuṭāsphuṭaṁ rūpameko'dṛṣṭena vāraṇe|
arthānarthau na yena stastaddṛṣṭaṁ karoti kim||
adṛṣṭaṁ dṛṣṭaṁ vā kāraṇaṁ kalpyatāmekatve bāhyasya sphuṭāsphuṭaghaṭanāpāṭavāpalāpāt| pratyayasya pratiniyatākāritaiva prāptakālā| anyathā jaya (10) parājayādivyavasthāvādināṁ viparyasyet| adṛṣṭavaśājjayaḥ parājayatayā pariṇataḥ parājayo pi jayatayeti śakyamabhidhātum|
tasmātsaṁvit yathāhetu jāyamānārthasaṁśrayāt|
pratibhāsabhidāṁ dhatte śeṣāḥ kumatidurnayāḥ||
yathā ‘nanu dharmiṇyeva sphuṭāsphuṭapratibhāsabhedaḥ na kathañcit| yathā yathā hi dharmāḥ pratibhānti tathā tathā sphuṭārthapratibhāna vyavahāra” ityādi, dharmmadharmmitayā hi pratibhāsanaṁ deśakālābhyāṁ asaṁnihitatayā kalpanamasphuṭapratibhānamāropitārthatvādityasakṛduktaṁ paramārthatastadviṣayatā neṣyate| sāmvṛtī tu jaga (3)dgītāstyevātaḥ parāmarśāvatāraḥ, tattvadarśinaḥ samvādopi sthūlaparāmarśinā tadrūpaparāvṛttanīlaviṣayaḥ, avāntaraparāmarśena sajātīyaparāvṛttānekanīlagocaraḥ sadvastutvādayo (4) kriyāmātranibandhanā vyapadeśāstasyaiva nīlasya śliṣṭāḥ svabhāvantaratā spṛśaḥ tadvāreṇāpyabādhanaṁ gṛhītasambandhānusandhānadvāreṇa śabdaliṅgaṁ lakṣitā pratītirūtprekṣākā-(5)-ratayā parokṣaviṣayā antasambandhena vā purovartinivṛttervyaparokṣaviṣayā na tayo rapi tatvata eka viṣayatā sāṁvṛtabodhasvīkrāre kva pratītirbādhānupalambhakukṣau (6) kṣiptatvādupādhicakrasya na śakyaṁ śakrasyāpi taddvāreṇa saṁdigdhānaikāntikatvaṁ kīrtayitum|
jñānamindriyabhedena paṭumandāvilādikām|
pratibhāsabhidāmarthe vibhradekatra dṛśyate||
arthasyābhinnarūpatvāt ekarūpaṁ bhavenmanaḥ|
sarva tadarthamarthāccet tasya nāsti tadābhatā||
arthāśrayeṇodbhavatastadrūpamanakurvataḥ|
tasya kecidaṁśena parato'pi bhidābhavet||
tadā hyāśritya pitaraṁ tadrūpo'pi sutaḥ pituḥ|
bhedaṁkenacidaṁśena kutaścidavalambate||
mayūracandrakākāraṁ nīlalohitabhāsvaram|
sampaśyanti pradīpādermaṇḍalaṁ mandacakṣuṣaḥ||
tasya tadvāhyarūpatve kā prasannekṣaṇe'kṣamā|
bhūtaṁ paśyaṁśca taddarśī kathaṁ copahatendriyaḥ||
śodhitaṁ timireṇāsya vyaktañcakṣuratīndriyam|
paśyato'nyākṣadṛśye'rthe tadavyaktaṁ kathaṁ punaḥ||
ālokākṣamanaskārādanyasyaikasya gamyate|
śaktirhetustato nānyo'hetuśca viṣayaḥ katham!||
ityanyasyopādhigrahasya tadvato cānanvayavyatirekādhyāsāt, tatkathaṁ taddvāreṇāpi pratibhāsabhedo bhāvīti dharmādupādhīnāmativi jñānasadbhāvāt|
vastudharmatayaivārthāstādṛgvijñānakāraṇam|
bhede'pi yatra tajjñānaṁ tāṁstathā pratipadyate||
jñānānyapi tathā bhede'bhedapratyavamarśane|
ityatatkrāryaviśleṣasyānvayo naikavastunaḥ||
vastūnāṁ vidyate tasmāt tanniṣṭhā vastuni śrutiḥ|
bāhyaśaktivyavacchedaniṣṭhabhāve'pi tacchrutiḥ||
vikalpapratibimbeṣu tanniṣṭheṣu nibadhyate|
tato'nyāpohaniṣṭhatvāduktānyāpohakṛtśrutiḥ||
‘bāhyaśakti’ ityādi ślokapūrvvabhāgaḥ pramāṇasya bādhakasya sūtra [3] kaḥ, ‘vikalpa pratibimbeṣvityādi prakāśya dṛśyavikalpāvartho ekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛtterityevamarthaḥ saṁketādikāraṇasya|
vyatirekīva yajjñāne bhātyarthaṁ pratibimbakam|
śabdāttadapi nārthātmā bhrāntiḥ sā vāsanodbhavā||
tasyābhi dhāne śrutibhirartheko'śo'vagamyate|
tasyāgatau ca saṅketakriyāvyarthā tadarthikā||
śabdo'rthāśa kamāheti tatrānyāpoha ucyāta|
ākāraḥ sa ca nārthe'sti taṁ vadannarthabhāka katham|
śabdasyānvayinaḥ kāryamarthenānvayinā sa ca|
ananvayī dhiyo'bhedāt darśanābhyāsanirmitaḥ|
tadrūpāropagatyānyathāvṛttādhigateḥ punaḥ|
śabdārtho'rthaḥ sa eveti vacana na virudhyate||
iti bādhakapratyayavaśāt atadrūpavyāvṛttavirodhe'pi śabdasyārtho'poha kathyate| sa ca vidhi pratītyanantaraṁ vidhiguṇatvena pratibhāti| anbayavyatirekābhyāṁ lokavyavahāra pravṛtteḥ| yathā ca tatparicchinatti ityādi [2]

arthaścaiko'dhyāsato bhāsato'nyaḥ,

etāvatyarthe vivakṣite svavodhavaidhuryaṁ bodhayannāha-
varṇakṛtyakṣarākāra śūnyaṁgotvaṁ hivarṇyate||
iti etāvatyarthe vivakṣite svabodhavaidhuryaṁ bodhayannāha-‘yadapyatyantavilakṣaṇānāmityādi, tadapi sandigdhānaikāntikamm vidhināpi tathābhūtena sālakṣaṇyavyavahārasya nirvāhāt tathāhi ayaṁ vyavahāro na nirnimittaḥ, nāpyaneka nimittaḥ nāpyanekāsaṁsargyekanimittaḥ atiprasaṅgāt| tatau'neka saṁsaryekanimittaḥ pariśiṣyate ityādi, tadapi
varṇākṛtkṣarākāra śūnyaṁ gotvaṁ hivarṇyate|
varṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnya (3) sāmānyam, (2) bahulābhisandhau dhautādhautamūlakasamānasatyatāvṛttāntapāmarasyāpi na lakṣyate ko hi viśeṣo'bhāvo'pohaḥ samastavarṇākṛtyakṣarākāraśūnyaṁ vā sāmānyaṁ atadrūpaparāvṛtta nī (4) lākāravikalpena pratītiviśeṣo'dhyavasāyaśabdārthaḥ vācyaḥ, pravṛtteraśeṣāyā aṅgamityuktau, ko'yamadhyavasāyaḥ kimalīkasya vastutayā'vabhāsaḥ kiṁ cāvasthātmakatayā tato bhe(5)dāgraho vā vastuvāsanāsamutthatvaṁ vetyādyanabhimatamukhyo'pya prastutabandhabandhutāpratānaḥ, arthasārūpyamasya pramāṇaṁ tadvaśādarthapratītasiddheḥ dṛśyavikalpyāva-(6) rthāvekīkṛtya vyavahārapravṛtteḥ pramāṇaphalavyavasthātrāpi pratyakṣavadityādivacanāt nīlākārādviśiṣṭatadviśeṣagrahaḥ| atadrūpaparāvṛttanīlākārā tanmātragrahaṇamiti vyavasthā (7) yāṁ “nāpiviṣayasārūpyaṁ, (tadabhāvān) kā hi paramārthasadalīkarūpayoḥ samāna rūpatā nāme tyādi guḍagorasayorekatākaraṇaṁ kvopayuktam| bādhakapratyayāddhi tadalīkatvaṁ kiṁ prāgā (8) ropya cintā kriyate śeṣaśca doṣo'bhimānasyaiva cintyatvādityādirajatapratītiparāmarśādgataḥ| yadi rajataṁ kiṁ vācyam| tasmādbhāvābhāvasādhāraṇapratibhāsa(9)..........sādhakena vidheḥ pratyayāntareṇāstīti vā sthāpyo nāstīti bādhakena āśaṅkitasyāropitasya vā pratibaṁdho deśādipratiṣedhe prītiprasiddhameva|
deśakālanisiddhaścet yathāsti sa niṣidhyate|
na tathā na yathā so'sti tathāpi na ni[10]ṣidhyate||
yat tu jñānasārupyāt ka.....pravṛttiriti prastutya sphurita eva pravartayanīti tatsiddhameva sādhyate| yato jñānasārūpyamanumānasiddhamiṣya (1) te| sa cāvasthātuṁaparokṣarūpājñānāntargatāpyanumānena siddhā| ahaṁkārāspadagrāhakākāraparāmarśāntargatatvāt bāhyabhūtā sphuritaśabdavācyā|
sārūpyāt bhrāntito vṛttirarthe cetsyānna sarvadā|
deśabhrāntiśca na jñāne tulyamutpattito dhiyaḥ||
tathā vidhāyāḥ, anyatra tatrānupagamād dhiyaḥ|
bāhya'rthapratibhāsāyā upāye vā'pramāṇatā||
....vasthā svabhāvabāhyamākārā paravyapadeśatā parokṣatārūpa prakāśātmakānahaṁkārasya ca nīlabhāvādeva ca tathokta tadrūparāvṛttiviṣayābuddhi svahetorālocyate prava........................śuktau rajataśuktivad tenedamapi nirdalitam|

mukhyāviśiṣṭavijñānagrāhyatvānnaupacārikaḥ||
ananyahetutā tulyā sā mukhyābhimateṣvayi|
padārthaśabdaḥkaṁ hetumanyaṁ ṣaṭkaṁ samīkṣate||
yo yathā ruḍhitaḥ siddhastatsāmyāt yastathocyate|
mukhyo gauṇaśca bhāveṣvapyabhāvasyopacārataḥ||
saṁketānvayinī rūḍhirvakturicchanvayī ca saḥ
kriyate vyavahārārtha chandaḥ śabdāṁśanāmavat||
vikalpasaṁskāra mātrāśrayasamudbhavaḥ||
bāhya hetvāśrayāt sākṣātsaṁbhavāddheturodhakaḥ|
sambandha bodhiśabdo vā tadvodho vāpi bodhayet|
tadabhāvai'pi tirohe saṁjñāvadanapekṣayeṁt|
tanmātraparatantra setyuccāryatumīhe bhayā|
ya mātratā saṁvittatrāvasthiti darśanāt|
samayoyamanādyupajñabdaśakti nirākṛtam||

śabdaḥ prasthāpakatve syānnārthasyāpi tu saṁvidaḥ||
sā tu tasyetya sambandho pracyavedakatādhikaḥ|
nābhidhānaṁ parodharmaḥ pratītikaraṇājjanaiḥ||
karaṇatve'pi kāryālpā kriyā na dvaya niṣṭhatā|
pratīteranutadvitve taddhetustatpratiṣṭhitaḥ||
mā carannabhi kuto'bhedā tadviparyasaṁvidā|
sarvāsāmarthasaṁvitve saṁvidāte viparyavaḥ||
sarvameva pramāṇaṁ syātvarūpādiṣṭa saṁśrayāt|
parokṣatā pramāṇaṁ syāddhetubhede viśeṣatat||
utaḥ [4]pramāṇaṁ tattvaistu svayamuccāraṇe tathā|
garthapratīti nivṛtti svātaṁtryavati vācake||
nākākṣādikṛtaikāryaviṣayatve'svatantratā|
ekamevārthaṁ vijñānaṁ jñānaṁ mindrivasaṁśrayam||
nāto[5]'nyamtannimittastadvastu pratvāyakaṁ kṛtaḥ|
vastusambandhasāmārthyākṣiptavastvāśrayāgatiḥ||
tatra nānyatra taccaitatprāpitaṁ saṁkaraṁ paraiḥ|
tadabhāve pi yā jātā tadvākyapraṣṭapekṣayā||
